Inside the office of Venom at GUNS arena we find, shocker, Venom. He’s tapping away at his keyboard unobstructed until his door swings open abruptly and his son El Rey rushes in.
El Rey: What the hell is going on here!?!?
Venom takes a beat and looks his son up and down.
Venom: I’m sure you mean something else, but I’m working here.
El Rey: Of course I mean something else. No one even knows what you do around here. I mean what is this bullshit that Dylan booked me into a Junior Heavyweight Championship match.
Venom raises an eyebrow and then slowly shuts down his computer before turning full attention to his son.
Venom: Oh that. That wasn’t Dylan’s doing. It was mine.
El Rey: What?!?!
Venom: You dodged my gauntlet by weaseling your way into that match and you thought I’d just forget about it? Did you forget about the times I was there during your upbringing?
El Rey: So this is your punishment?
Venom: Something like that.
El Rey: Well the jokes on you. You picked quite possibly the worst member of that joke of a stable. He can’t do anything by himself, and this proves it.
El Rey reaches onto Venom’s desk and picks up a plane ticket and holds it up.
El Rey: The loser can’t even get himself here by himself. You have to fly out to get him. This is going to be a cakewalk. I’ll retain my title and you can move me on in your little gauntlet too.
Venom snatches the ticket out of his sons hand and places it back on the desk.
Venom: I’m sure you’ll do just that.
El Rey: You’re damn right I will… Wait. What?
Venom: You have proven me wrong time-and-time again son. This gauntlet is just a formality now. I already paid these guys so I’ve got no choice but to follow through. But I’ve got no doubt you’ll come out on top.
El Rey: Do you, believe in me?
Venom: I do and always have.
El Rey: No. You’re trying to get in my head. I’ll prove you wrong, or right, or something. Damn it!
El Rey turns on his heels and exits the office slamming the door behind him as he does.
Johnny Styler.
What a joke.
When I look at you I just can’t believe that you once held this belt.
I’m told you were once a great champion in this and the tag division. I’m told you were ahead of your time. That the work you and Quake did changed the game. No, though, I doubt you could even change a light bulb.
You’re in what people say is a dominant stable, in Japan, but you’re the fourth most important member in that group! Both of the Angel Brothers are in that group, and you’re below both of them! How am I supposed to take that seriously? How am I supposed to look at you and see a real challenger.
I’ll be honest with you Johnny. I didn’t even know you wrestled anymore. I thought you were just a mascot for Natural Selection. A token fourth there to keep Quake happy because you know if you weren’t there he’d dump that loser Randy in a heartbeat.
But alas, this isn’t about them. This is about you and the joke you’ve become. When’s the last time you were in the ring? When’s the last time you were even on screen and not bleeding for the joke? You probably can’t remember because no one else can either.
Don’t think too hard on it, though. I wouldn’t want you to hurt yourself before I get the chance to do it. My dad may still see you as a threat, but I know what you are Johnny, just another step on my way to greatness.
