INT. ARENA IN SEATTLE, PRESS AREA – NIGHT
After a few seconds, the British TV Champion walks in. KALMIN WATTS enters the room and walks up to the podium with his title resting on his shoulder. He is in a pair of University of Oklahoma shorts and some sneakers. He’s still in the process of wrapping up the night when his name was called for the conference. Behind Watts is his manager, ANTHONY JORDAN. Jordan walks in with confidence and a subtle, happy demeanor. Watts starts the interview.
WATTS
It’s been a good night. I kept my British TV Title and was able to beat both challengers, so neither could say I avoided him. I’ll take a few questions.
REPORTER #1
Kalmin, congrats on the win. Anything you want to say about your opponents?
WATTS
Nothing really about Onyxx. He ran his mouth and couldn’t back it up. Now, Devon D'Andre fought his hardest. I could tell that he wasn’t at his best, but he kept fighting. That won my respect. He must have been something great in his prime.
REPORTER #2
That’s putting it mildly. He’s one of the illustrious nine who have beaten Donzig in a singles match in XHF. What do you say about that?
Watts goes to answer, but Jordan puts his hand over the microphone and shakes his head. He’s not about to allow the gaze from the abyss to lock on to Kalmin Watts. From Hell’s heart, he would stab at them. The Beast would never give up the spear.
JORDAN
Next question.
REPORTER #3
There is an open invitation for a battle royal at the St. Patrick’s Day Massacre. Can you confirm if you will be in it or not?
WATTS
If they’re offering me a match, I never say “no”. I’ll be there, and I plan to win it.
The reporters murmur after hearing the news.
REPORTER #3
Can't say I'm surprised. After all, the winner gets a World Title shot.
Can't say I'm surprised. After all, the winner gets a World Title shot.
After hearing the news, Watts whoops and gives out a yell. The news sits well with him. Jordan gives his goofy grin like he's the cat who ate the canary.
REPORTER #4
That makes for a busy night as you will also be defending your title.
Watts and Jordan look at each other. The news got to the press before it got them. After a quick conversation away from the microphone, Watts addresses the press.
WATTS
We didn’t know about that, but it doesn’t change anything. I’m happy to defend my title. That’s the job of the TV Champion. When we’re on TV, the belt needs to be defended.
Jordan claps and praises Watts in quite a show for the cameras.
WATTS
Since we haven’t been told, yet, who am I defending against?
REPORTER #4
Frank Windsor.
Jordan’s clapping rapidly slows down. He wasn’t expecting to hear that name. While Jordan looks displeased, Watts nods with intrigue, then smiles as he looks at the camera.
WATTS
That sounds like a big-time match to me. Bring it on!
Watts holds his belt high, and the press takes pictures. He slings it back on his shoulder and walks out of the room.
