I have no power or authority, so the results of the show probably won’t match-up. I used to do this back in the day, and Don has been asking me to bring it back. This is completely subjective. You might be doing brilliant work that 99% think is flawless. I may be that 1% who can’t see what he’s supposed to see.
Also, this is relative to where you were in the recent past (if this happens in the future). It is not something that examines your character’s entire history. Typically shows after big PPVs tend to have a lot of "downs" because most ease up as they catch their breath.
Wesley Crane (World Champ) - UP The champion looked like a champion. He’s willing to be an antagonist and do things differently. He’s the smug champ the fans would like to see get his comeuppance. His work was daring anyone to lean face or work outside the box. Bringing Timmy Draven into his second RP was interesting because not everyone here knows the lore. It’s a calculated gamble.
Rob Riot (Commonwealth/Tag Team Champ) - MOSTLY UP Really liked his first RP. I found it to be dynamic. The second RP seemed to walk back what he established. I would have preferred for Rob to keep hitting the gas and push “fuck all y’all, I’m getting mine” narrative more. When he backtracked, he let his work blend too much with Billy Fowler’s. It’s risky in a match like the Elimination Chamber. I would have preferred to see him build on his 1st RP instead of walk some of it back.
Billy Fowler (Tag Team Champ) - UP I think Billy leaned into the “I’m an old guy, and I know the brotherhood is the most important thing” narrative, and I thought it fit. This Billy with Crane being expertly vapid and Riot being overly ambitious would have been a fun dynamic. We didn’t get all of it, but Billy was who he’s always presented himself to be.
Frank WIndsor (Tag Team Champ) - UP I didn’t know what to expect from Frank because I’m used to seeing his work when he’s with the Bastards as opposed to his solo work. Frank was creative and fed me a lot of material. His defender of the kingdom, whether they want him to be or not, was a fun turn.
Havok - NEUTRAL I struggled to get his second RP. I might kick myself for missing what he was going for, and I’ll own that. I think he also burned up his A+ work in the first match, which put him, ironically, considering he’s the last one in, in a tricky spot. I think everyone else paced themselves while Havok went for it. It’s admirable, but not without risk.
Psychotic Goth - NEUTRAL I got a lot of menace from his work. I got the feeling that he’s set up to be the guy who fucks others over in the chamber like some demon or evil spirit. Human suffering is preferable to some belt. I thought he finished strong, but started a little incomplete.
Armand von Krauss - NEUTRAL AVK has a lot of lore with him of which I am completely ignorant. I think he leaned into the “agent of evil” thing, too. With someone else in the match going in a similar direction (though AVK was first), it robs some of his menace. I like the thought of him aiding someone, whether they want it or not, then making demands of them after the match a la Mafia “protection”.
Shizuku Yamamoto - DOWN I didn’t see any work, so I think that qualifies as “down”.
Donzig - UP This may sound wild, but Donzig might be one of the highest-ranking babyfaces in WUK. He’s not a face in his approach, mentality, or views on humanity, but he’s WUK’s “devil that you know”. He’s also our pilgrim sailing into foreign waters. Don also has refined his RPs to be a nice 1-2 punch. This iteration of Donzig tends to avoid disparate work leading into a show.
Salt and Pepper - NEUTRAL I’d like to see Salt and Pepper showcase more of their individuality and give us a glimpse into “How do they work together?”. They’re doing a Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, which is fine if they are mere agents of their master. For that approach, I think the master should be RPing against their opponents more.
Rage and Cage - UP Lots of manic energy, which is fine for a new team. I think they’ll be interesting to view when initial energy is up, and they have to develop and maybe step out of Crane’s shadow.
Oblivion Death Squad - NEUTRAL They are faithful knights.
Glucks - DOWN Didn’t see anything from my fellow statesmen.
I’m not doing everyone in the battle royal because that would be a little too much.
