At a grocery store in Tokyo, Japan, “Zolothach” Tabitha Osborne is pushing a shopping cart and shopping for what she’s planning on having for dinner for the few days before she boards a flight for Ireland so that she can wrestle a match against Sinclair Godfrey for Wrestle: UK.
What she has in the cart is essentially tv dinners and a bag of mochi treats. Nothing much, but she doesn’t want food to spoil while she’s gone. She pushes the cart to the front where she waits in line to pay for her food. She looks out through the store's front window to see that it has started to rain outside.
When it gets to be her turn, she puts her groceries up on the counter for the cashier to scan in so that she can pay for them. She frowns as the landscape outside goes from the light of day to darkening to nightfall within seconds. The colors of the outside world become dull green, seeming to take on a sinister glow. Everything in the outside world remains the same, except for spirits floating by the window as if going about their everyday lives. Ancient things flow through the sky, their forms never settling on permanency. A few people scream and run away from the window, Tabitha’s cashier included. She watches as green flames take on a large humanoid shape, solidifying into a man.
Nomi Genjo.
Tabitha’s eyes go wide as they make eye contact. Nomi Genjo walks through the window, shattering the glass as he does so. He makes a beeline for Tabitha, who shoves her emptied cart at him. Genjo knocks the cart to the side as he begins a charge.
Nomi Genjo: You won’t escape me today, little one!
Tabitha points all ten of her fingers at Nomi, the tips glowing with untold power as she screams the words of power.
Tabitha Osborne: FERRUM SPECTRIS!
Streams of power escape her fingers and race toward Nomi Genjo, striking him in the chest, face, and arms. The spirit knives cut deep, but the wounds close almost instantly. He slams his shoulder into her, sending her nearly twenty feet down an aisle where she slams into the side of the aisle to knock canned goods on top of herself.
Nomi laughs as he walks over to where Tabitha lays half-buried. He pulls her out of the mess by the front of her shirt and holds her in front of him like a rag doll. Blood streams from a gash by her temple from where a can had struck her.
Nomi Genjo: Every defeat I suffered has made me more powerful until your petty magics can no longer defeat me.
Tabitha Osborne: Is that so? I have learned a few things since we last met. Pluviae mille laminae ab inferis!
The ceiling for the store explodes in a fiery wave and from the hole comes a thousand blades made of Hellfire that rain down on Nomi Genjo. He drops Tabitha and screams in pain as the fiery blades sink into his not-quite-solid flesh as if he were. The blades vanish as soon as they do damage, leaving behind the scent of brimstone and burned flesh.
Nomi palms Tabitha by the face, lifts her into the air, and slams her into the shelves opposite of him. This motion sends another avalanche of canned gods on top of Tabitha.
Nomi Genjo: New tricks will not save you.
Tabitha rises from the canned goods, knocking them to the side as she stands up. She is cut, she is bruised, and yet she still stands. She smirks at the man that she had exiled into the ether.
Tabitha Osborne: I will defeat you and for the last time, Genjo. I will shatter your spirit form so that it can no longer reform. Just like I will defeat Sinclair Godfrey in the ring coming up in Ireland. She can handle a lot of violence, but I am on another level. I have been locked away in the asylum to be forgotten. To die alone. They say I’m insane. Let me share that with you.
Nomi Genjo: What?
Tabitha Osborne: Amnis insaniae!
A stream of energy goes from Tabitha’s eyes to Nomi’s. All of her experience of the past, all of her abuse, all of her madness, is reflected in Nomi’s eyes as he experiences twenty years of abuse in seconds.
He drops to his knees, tears streaming from the corners of his eyes and down his cheeks.
Nomi Genjo: I had no idea that you suffered so much. I am…sorry.
Tabitha stops concentrating on the spell to release Nomi from her grip.
Tabitha Osborne: You are sorry?
Nomi Genjo: I am. I am sorry that your father did not murder you first.
He grabs Tabitha by the top of the head and begins punching her in the midsection over and over until the loud crack of ribs breaking can be heard and she is lifted with both hands and thrown down to the end of the aisle where rice is sold in bulk. Bags burst open and cover her in rice, absorbing the blood that streams from her many wounds and is coughed from her insides. She slowly gets back to her feet, using one of the shelves as support as she pants.
Tabitha Osborne: Defeat you…
Nomi Genjo charges down the aisle and seizes Tabitha by the throat and lifts her into the air on a one-armed choke hold.
Nomi Genjo: No more spells, little witch! Now…you die.
Everyone else has left the building to escape the battle. Even the police merely watch as if helpless in this fight.
Still, few are shocked more than Tabitha Osborne and Nomi Genjo when a black sword trailing purple energy slices through his arm holding Tabitha in the air. She lands on her feet and backs away while the arm hits the ground and dissolves.
Tabitha stands by Armand von Krauss, who wields the black sword.
