INT. PRESS ARENA IN DUBLIN ARENA
KALMIN WATTS is already standing behind the podium when the feed cuts in. The WUK British TV Title is folded in a way where the front plate stands up and faces the camera.
REPORTER #1
What are your thoughts on your defense against Takaru Matsui?
WATTS
There’s still unfinished business. I’m happy I’m still British TV Champion, but he needs to pay for what he’s done. I still plan to make him tap out. If I have to wait until the gauntlet, then so be it. I’m not done with Takaru Matsui.
REPORTER #1
Any words for Ace Sky?
WATTS
Yeah. He has great timing.
The pool of reporters chuckle at that.
REPORTER #2
Kalmin, where is Anthony Jordan?
WATTS
After his dust up with Graves, he’s running around celebrating. He said it felt good to be involved for two straight shows. That Spinning Toe Hold is no joke. Hopefully Graves learned something from that.
REPORTER #3
You were named as the “poison” for Wesley Crane. How do you feel about that?
WATTS
I’m pretty sure Ronnie Long and I don’t have a good relationship, but he must have enough confidence in me to put me up against the World Heavyweight Champion. I see every match as an opportunity, so I’m excited for this one in Wolverhampton.
REPORTER #3
So you weren’t expecting this announcement?
WATTS
No, I wasn’t. I guess he sees me as someone who can either soften Wesley Crane up or maybe expose some flaws in his style. It’s only fair as Long has had to go through Eddie Havok and, now, Billy Fowler. It’s pretty obvious that Crane is hoping to grind Long down before Dominion. I’ll even the odds as best I can.
REPORTER #4
While it seems obvious this will be a non-title match, can you confirm it?
WATTS
Which title? (said with a sly smirk)
REPORTER #4
The World Title.
WATTS
No, it’s not on the line. It wouldn’t make much sense for Ronnie Long to give away a shot when he still has to wait a month.
(beat)
As for the British TV Title, I’m willing to defend it. I’m not afraid of the World Heavyweight Champion. I know I can beat him. If he agrees to it, I’ll be happy to defend my title.
Knowing when to leave, Watts picks up the British TV Title and walks out as the reporters murmur to themselves.
