The people in the airport scattered before him as he headed down the narrow hallway. He didn’t blame them, he was in a foul mood after the recent events in London. As his head slammed against the Two Kingdoms title? He had felt the Scourge stir in his mind, the raspy voice of the Great Dark rising up again. He had shoved him back down, but he knew he was still there.
He was always there. He had always been.
He lifted a hand to drag across his mouth, shaking his head as he looked around the airport. He needed a drink, he needed to drink away that darkness. The song of the Abyss, the whispers of the Void. They wanted him back, he could feel it.
But he was alive again, terribly alive. He wanted more life.
He stomped into the airport bar, grumbling to himself as he dropped down a stool. He waved a hand, calling for a beer. The bartender nodded, and he slid a beer over. Donzig stared at it, frowning slightly as he inspected the label.
‘What the hell is Kirin Light?’
Donzig shrugged, he didn’t care. He used the edge of the table, popping off the lid before he leaned back to take a long drink. A faint grunt, and he took another drink before he leaned back against the bar. He shook his head, and he watched the TV on the wall.
Not bad, really.
Why was he here again?
Oh. yeah. SKY Force. The King of All Failures.
An exploding demolished house match.
Where exactly did the Scourge get his ideas? Well, he supposed from the depths of his own mind. The Great Dark longed for destruction, and including his own. That being said Donzig was not willing to back down, in fact he might have longed for his own destruction as well. He and the Scourge were of the same mind weren’t they? Two halves of the same soul.
His entire life had been a ruthless search for glory. A cold merciless conquest of the only thing that mattered to him. He had always promised he would make it right, that one more thing, one more crime, one more betrayal, one more act of terro. And it would be better, he could stop.
But he never did, it was so easy.
And what waited for him at the bottom?
Oh, he knew.
He took another drink, and nodded to himself. Then the door opened, and he turned to see Carbrey walk inside. He knew him, but he was not sure he trusted him. The Scourge tainted everyone around him, he left his darkness inside of them. Donzig-gun had been taken by Armand, but as soon as he was around any of them?
He felt it.
The hunger for blood, the taste of ash on his lips, the desire for destruction.
Malice.
He took a drink, and then turned to regard him.
‘Luthor.’
Carbrey stared at him, tugging at his own jacket before he called for a beer of his own. And he sat down, sipping at the beer before he looked to Donzig.
‘Armand wanted to know if you showed up in Japan, but you know what? I haven’t seen you.’ A wink, and Carbrey took another drink with a shrug. ‘If you know what I mean.’
Donzig laughed.
‘Good enough.’
‘SKY Force wants a war? Let’s give them one.’
The pair clicked their beers together, and Donzig stared at the TV again.
