WCW Nitro August 7th 2023
Nitro opens cold with a shot of Vince Russo arriving at the arena. We hear cheers from the arena crowd in the background in reaction to his arrival.
Joey Styles: There's a live shot of outside the arena. Vince Russo has just arrived tonight.
Mark Madden: Mr. Arquette ordered Russo to be here tonight Joey.
Within moments the shot switches to David Arquette in the middle of the ring. The crowd is booing him. He has a mic.
David Arquette: Vince Russo! I see that you just got here. Listen up Vinny. There's only one reason why I even let you be here tonight. You see I'm the sole owner of WCW at the moment. But you are the booker. Matches are not official until you sign off on them.
I am ordering you to authorize a match. Next week. Me and Jamie Kennedy. One on one for the WCW United States Championship. The thing between me and Kennedy ends next week. Once and for all.
But I don't want just any match. I want a steel cage match. I don't want anyone interfering trying to screw me in this match. And another thing..
Vince Russo you are gonna be the special guest referee. I don't trust you but I don't want you attacking me from behind in a ghostface mask like you did Freddie and Sarah.
Immediately the lights go down in the arena. But before it goes pitch black we catch a glimpse of a figure in the ring with Arquette.
We hear the crowd making noise in a pitch black arena. There's a nervous energy. We only see the lights from cell phones and glowsticks for a few moments.
Mark Madden: What the hell is going on here Joey?!
Joey Styles: Hell if I know. Ladies and gentlemen this is live television. We are in the dark here at the arena.
Just then the lights come back on and we see only David Arquette. He's on the mat and he looks pretty banged up.
COMMERCIAL BREAK
Joey Styles: Welcome ladies and gentlemen to WCW Nitro live on TNT. Joey Styles and Mark Madden here on what has already been an eventful night. Before the commercial break. The arena went pitch black and when the lights came back on. It appears that the Co-Owner of WCW David Arquette was attacked.
Mark Madden: Joey, that frickin' ghostface guy attacked the SOLE owner of WCW. I know it!
Mark Madden: Joey, that frickin' ghostface guy attacked the SOLE owner of WCW. I know it!
Joey Styles: We are getting word from the back that we are going to hear from Head of Creative Vince Russo after the following match regarding what just went down.

COMMERCIAL BREAK
Vince Russo Responds to Arquette
Vince Russo is seen walking backstage. Abraham Washington catches up to him midstride with a microphone in hand.
Abraham Washington: Mr. Vince Russo. Did you hear what Mr. Arquette said earlier tonight?
Vince Russo: You know Abe. Bro. I was just barely getting to the arena when David was flapping his gums earlier. I heard about what he said bro.
He wants me to give him a title shot against the new WCW US Champion Jamie Kennedy? Well I don't think he deserves a shot bro. But that's not my call. As long as Kennedy is cool with it. It's a done deal bro. In a steel cage, next week on Nitro. I'm the ref and I'll make sure Arquette doesn't try to weasel his way to a championship like he did back in 2000.
Abraham Washington: Mr. Russo thank you for making that announcement. Did you also get a chance to see what happened to Mr. Arquette after the lights went out?
Vince Russo: Listen Abe. I watched the replay of what happened on a monitor here in the back. Like I said I wasn't even inside the arena when everything went down. But David Arquette thinks he's a real tough guy. Well welcome to professional wrestling bro.
Abraham Washington: Thank you Mr. Russo.
Vince Russo nods and walks off.

Abraham Washington: Thank you Mr. Russo.
Vince Russo nods and walks off.
"Ken's Theme" by ToxicEternity plays throughout the arena and the crowd comes to life with thunderous cheers.
Joey Styles: Well, that music can only mean one thing, Mark.
Mark Madden: Our newly-crowned WCW World Champion, Sean Parker! A history-making win at Bash at the Beach for the young Scotsman.
Joey Styles: That's right, Mark, the first World Champion of this new age of WCW but also taking co-owner David Arquette's mantle of youngest WCW World Champion in history.
Sean Parker appears from behind the curtain, his music playing and he stops on the stage, the WCW World Championship draped across his shoulder. He smiles broadly as he takes in the adulation of the fans as he begins to walk down the ramp, slapping hands with the fans on both sides of the ramp along the front row. He jumps up onto the apron in a swift motion, climbing up to one of the turnbuckles and raises the WCW World Championship aloft and the fans cheer again. Sean hops inside the ring and raises the belt again as his music fades out.
Joey Styles: My god, what an ovation for this young man. He left the safety net of his uncle's wrestling promotion only a month ago and he's just gone from strength to strength, especially here in WCW.
Mark Madden: But now, he's going to have a target on his back, Joey. From what I understand, this is Parker's first ever championship reign of any kind. We'll see in the coming weeks whether he can thrive or whether the weight of that belt will get the better of him and he crumbles under the pressure.
In the ring, Sean beckons to the timekeeper's area for a microphone and is duly handed one. He goes to talk, raising the microphone to his mouth but the fans interrupt him with a chant of "You deserve it!"
Sean smiles and acknowledges the chant with a gesture of his hand before he finally speaks.
Sean: Thanks everyone, I appreciate that...you know, I think of all the greats that have held this prestigious, beautiful championship before me. Sting... Flair...Vader... Ron Simmons...Goldberg....Bret Hart...even you, Hogan, back on the roster after how many years?
Sean shakes his head incredulously.
Sean: You know, I remember Hulk Hogan's face-to-face altercation on HWA Havoc back in 2011 with my uncle, Butch Parker. It was a mixed six-man tag team match... Logan Neilson, Heinrich von Richtoven and Butch Parker against the new NWO of Talon Wilkinson, the late Eddie Phoenix and Merlyn. Hogan was the special guest referee. He was clearly not being impartial whatsoever and Butch pushed him to the mat, Hogan got up to his feet and the two of them went nose-to-nose; the fans went wild.
Sean exhales deeply through his nose as he fondly remembers the moment in his mind's eye.
Sean: It was like time stood still....Butch Parker, "The One Man Tartan Army" and "The Immortal" Hulk Hogan face to face in the middle of the ring... and now here we are, over ten years later and there's the distinct possibility he'll possibly get to run it back with another Parker!
Sean smiles as he takes the belt from his shoulder and holds it by the strap almost directly near the base plate.
Sean: You know, when I arrived in WCW, I wasn't even meant to be in the tournament to win this title. But I'm a firm believer in fate...everything happens for a reason. Obstacles are put in our way to test us and less-travelled roads are put in our way to help us deviate from the easy road. Well, I took the hard road, I've paid my dues and I showed that if you take control of your own destiny, you stay the course and believe in yourself, good things happen. And let me tell you all something, I plan on being a fighting champion and I plan on taking on any and all challengers who come my way and I will make this belt worth fighting for... and speaking of challengers...
….I've been champion less than a week and, as I knew would happen, I've already got potential challengers knocking at my door. Riot, you and I already have some sort of connection through our HWA ties but it's been a lot of years since you've been consistently inside a wrestling ring. Granted that was an impressive victory you had at Bash at the Beach but it's gonna take more than an impressive debut to stake your claim for my title... that being said... whoever management decides to pit me against, I will be more than happy to step into the ring and put this belt on the line because like I said, I plan on being a fighting champion, the champion this company deserves! No eye pokes of doom, no lying down for anyone, no cattle prods, no spray-painting belts, no goddamn Ghostface! Simply put, no bullshit! This is a new era of WCW and I intend to make it memorable for the right reasons!
The crowd cheers loudly as Sean tosses the mic aside, as "Ken's Theme" by Toxic×Eternity plays again. Sean holds up the WCW World Championship and leaves the ring, slapping hands with more fans as he makes his way to the back.

CJ Walker vs Hollywood Hogan
Joey Styles: We were scheduled to have CJ Walker make his debut here tonight against WCW Legend Hollywood Hulk Hogan. We have gotten word that Terry Bollea was actually too afraid to show up to the arena to face his opponent here tonight.
Vince Russo has ruled that CJ Walker. Who showed up here tonight ready to compete has indeed won the match by default.

The winner is CJ Walker.
EL BORRACHO Called Out
Abraham Washington is standing next to EL BORRACHO with a mic. BORRACHO has a ringside ticket once again.
EB: It's great to be here thank..
Suddenly WCW Legend Buff Bagwell walks into the shot much to the surprise of the fans of EB, Abe, and the fans. Abraham Washing puts the mic in Buff's face.

Buff: We all know you BORRACHO, we all know who you are and how you are.

I'm gonna be here in your face every week you are here. IM GOING TO GET YOU IN THAT RING AND IM GOING TO SHOW WCW AND EVERYBODY OUT THERE WHAT A PHONIE YOU ARE.
EB: So you want EL BORRACHO to come out of retirement and get in that ring. Just so you can try to prove a point?
Buff: Like I said BORRACHO. I'm gonna be here every week until you get in that ring.
EB: Thinking...... Ok... EL BORRACHO will fight again to prove to you, the fans, and all of WCW the EL BORRACHO has changed
Buff Bagwell looks pleased with himself as he walks away.

Inside the WCW Nitro arena, a spotlight shines on the ring. Jamie Kennedy, dressed in his wrestling gear and wearing the WCW United States Championship belt around his waist, stands in the center of the ring. The crowd's cheers mix with jeers as he holds a microphone, ready to address the audience. He smirks.
Jamie Kennedy: Well, well, well, look who's standing in the center of this ring, bathed in the spotlight, with gold around his waist. It's none other than the Blockbuster Brawler himself, Jamie Kennedy!
The crowd's reaction intensifies.
Jamie Kennedy: You know, last week at Bash at the Beach, I promised you all that I would become the United States Champion. And guess what? I delivered, just as I said I would. But this isn't just a victory for me; it's a victory for each and every one of you, whether you realize it or not.
Speaking of MY Championship.. On to you David Arquette. You see, I was REAL broken up about your misfortune earlier tonight. No, really it sucks. But you challenge me to a cage match? Title on the line? Next week with Russo as the guest referee? Done. Moving on..

He gestures to the audience.
Jamie Kennedy: Now, let's talk about my Bash opponent, Sebastian Truegrove. You were just another steppingstone on my path to greatness, and I must admit, you put up a decent fight. But the fact remains that you couldn't stop the Blockbuster Brawler. The United States Championship belongs to me now, and I'm going to make sure it's synonymous with my name.
He pats the championship belt.
Jamie Kennedy: And then there's Sean Parker, the World Champion. A couple weeks on Nitro, you managed to get the better of me. I'll give credit where it's due, but don't think for a second that I'm done with you. The Blockbuster Brawler doesn't stay down for long. I may have lost the battle, but I won the war at Bash at the Beach, and my sights are set on that World Championship.
He raises the microphone to his lips.
Jamie Kennedy: But enough about my past opponents and future opponents; let's talk about something more important – the United States of America. Yes, the very nation we call home, a land of opportunity, a land of dreams, and yes, sometimes a land of absolute stupidity.
The crowd's reaction is mixed.
Jamie Kennedy: I'm not here to sugarcoat things. I'm here to tell it like it is. America, you've given me the platform to shine, to become the Blockbuster Brawler, the United States Champion. And despite the idiots that roam your streets, I stand here as a beacon of hope, as the embodiment of the true American spirit.
He looks around the arena, his voice ringing with conviction.
Jamie Kennedy: You may ask, "Why? Why should the Blockbuster Brawler represent a nation that can sometimes be so damn foolish?" And my answer is simple – because I'm the only one who can. I'm the only one who has the charisma, the talent, and the determination to be the leader you all deserve.
He clenches his fist.
Jamie Kennedy: I may not be what you want, America, but I'm what you need. The Blockbuster Brawler will rise above the chaos, above the ignorance, and I will represent every single one of you, whether you believe in me or not.
He pauses, his expression intense.
Jamie Kennedy: WCW, listen up. The Blockbuster Brawler era has begun, and I'm not just here to be a champion; I'm here to be a force of nature. I will redefine what it means to be a true champion, and I'll do it on my terms.
He points at the camera.
Jamie Kennedy: To the rest of the roster, the locker room, and all those who think they can step up – understand this. The Blockbuster Brawler is the measuring stick, the one you'll have to surpass to prove your worth. But rest assured, none of you are on my level.
He paces around the ring, his gaze fixed on the audience.
Jamie Kennedy: And now, to the fans, the ones who cheer me and those who boo me, I welcome you all. The Blockbuster Brawler thrives on your energy, your passion, and your emotions. Whether you love me or hate me, I'm here to captivate you, to make you feel something.
He raises the microphone high.
Jamie Kennedy: So, WCW universe, get ready for an era of greatness, an era where the Blockbuster Brawler stands tall as the true face of this company.
He unfastens the United States Championship and raises the belt high above his head, the arena lights illuminating his triumphant pose.
Jamie Kennedy: The journey has just begun, and the Blockbuster Brawler is about to make WCW the hottest ticket in town.
He drops the microphone as the crowd's reaction is a mix of cheers and boos. Jamie Kennedy exits the ring and walks up the ramp ignoring the few fans that actually have their arms outstretched looking for high-fives.
Mantaur vs Layla Lavoie
LaLa is hanging out at catering loading a K-Cup into a Keurig machine. The very moment she closes the Keurig pod, Mantaur shows up out of nowhere. Mantaur hits her in the back of the head with a strange looking object.
Mark Madden: Joey, that appears to be a replica of the severed head of Pamela Voorhees from the Hollywood movie Friday the 13th Part 2!
Joey Styles: So you're saying LaLa just got hit in the back of the head with a head?!
Mark Madden: Technically, its a movie prop Joey. But yes. That is correct.
Mantaur hands the ref the WCW Hardcore title belt. The ref signals for the bell to ring to start the hardcore match.

Immediately after the camera shot of Mantaur with his hand raised holding the WCW Hardcore title. The scene switches with no warning to a shot a hooded figure standing over someone. It appears that we are in the arena parking lot. With the hooded figure standing over them we are unable to see the person who was attacked.
The hooded figure looks around. He has a ghostface mask on. Ghostface then proceeds to walk away revealing who is laid out on the pavement.
Mark Madden: Joey, that's Jamie Kennedy!
Joey Styles: At the beginning of the show we saw the lights go out and it appears as if David Arquette was attacked. Now the WCW United States Champion Jamie Kennedy has been laid out as well. Hopefully we can get some answers next week. We are out of time!
The scene fades to black.
