۞ I WON’T LET THEM CHOOSE MY WAY ۞ ۞ BECAUSE I’M STILL BREATHING! ۞ With Battle of Britain Two taking place inside the O2 Arena it could possibly make sense for at least one competitor from the namesake ‘Battle of Britain’ rumble to be at the arena at least once before the event…right? So here we are at a table in Five Guys as sitting in front of us, sipping from the straw of a milkshake in front of her, is Maxine Salt. Why is Maxine here by herself when both her and her tag partner Pepper are entering this rumble? “Again and again we let our liege down and time and time again our liege had to do something she didn’t want to. From the harder and harder training to even going to hire a man - one who she would usually consider too much of a wildcard to let into her Kingdom - to keep an eye on us so she can deal with less stress. And even more stress may come her way as me and Pepper are entering the Battle of Britain to not only get a Title shot at New Years Brawl but to also get our first victory since coming to W:UK…though failure could result in even more harsh training… I know what you people are wondering…with all this treatment from her, why do we continue to fight for our liege? Why do we, regardless of the consequences, continue to dive headfirst toward whatever hell our liege commands us to go to? Why are we so loyal to our liege?” Miss Salt takes a moment to make a more lengthy sip out of her cup, one lengthy enough to finish said cup if anything, before answering said question. “It is true that neither me nor Pepper were given a chance to chase our dream to wrestle until Shizuku took us in…but that is where the similarities end. For while Pepper had the money, the supporting family and boyfriend to bring her up whenever she goes down…all I had for ‘support’ was a waitressing job here, which wages I used to barely afford the rent of a dodgy bedsit and whatever scraps of food I could get on the cheap. If anything I was just one more bad shift away from giving up on my dream and becoming a miserable nine to five girl…but then, a couple years ago on this very day, Shizuku came to this Five Guys restaurant. I don’t know what she saw - be it talent, potential or obedience - but the briefest moment our eyes met when I was taking her order she suddenly asked if I ever wanted to become a wrestler. At the end of that conversation I handed in my notice and Shizuku took me under her wing…it was that moment that someone finally noticed me and without that moment, without Shizuku, I would never have got to achieve my dream of becoming a professional wrestler. Everything good that I have, everything good I’ll ever get…all of it…is down to the kindness my liege has shown me on that day and that day is the reason why I’ll be forever loyal to my liege, no matter what command she deems me worthy of. So when I say that there is nobody in that match more willing to fight to the death than me…you better damn well believe every word of it.” Sharply leaves the Manx’s lips before she gets up to head off and throw her cup in a nearby bin. Afterwards Maxine would approach the counter, have a brief conversation with the counter woman - involving an exchange of money - and get a new milkshake from her before coming back to us to indicate that we should start following her towards the restaurant’s doors. “Yeayeayeah, I know that there are many obstacles that stand between me and victory. My win-loss record may be lacklustre but neither me nor Pepper are stupid. Three different mystery entrants, a wide range of powerhouses and tricky speedsters and then you also have some who have fought either with or against the likes of-” The blonde pauses to the spot and glances around the restaurant, as if checking to see if a certain someone was nearby, before returning her attention back to leading us outside. “-Donzig. I know I ain’t the strongest, the fastest or the most experienced person entering this match. I also know better than to attempt to understand why anyone else in this match wants to win. After all, history is written by the winners. Any second that I waste trying to think about any of them is another second I could be spending instead on thinking and plotting how to topple any one of them. Outpower the quickest, outspeed the strongest and out…out…tough the roughest. That is what I’ll do not to merely survive his ‘match’ but to be one who turns this O2 Arena into the twenty-first century Hastings and become the conqueror who wins the Battle of Britain.” It was only when opening the door to step outside of Five Guys that the blonde in front of us stopped walking away to turn her head back to look directly at us. “All for my liege.” Proudly leaves Maxine’s lips as she finally takes her first sip of this new drink before walking off, letting go of the door she was holding open in the process and causing it to crash us in sudden static. > = = = ۞ = = = < 🧂 911 words ۞ I’d rather be possibly late than fully no-show >.< 🌶️ |
