The days have been melancholic and reminiscent of times past. He is sitting near the fireplace in the living room of the Hunter Villa. Nobody else is there, but him. Fire burns kindling, in the chimney corner and the sound of burning wood timidly engulfs the room. He sits on the Chesterfield, arms crossed on his chest, breathing slowly in and out. He feels saddened by the absence of his father, although he hasn’t truly left, he is there within their hearts, and his presence is everlasting. The young man shakes his head, slowly, and starts speaking in his usual, calm, tone.
“A man is not measured by his words, Goth, but by the weight of his deeds. You say you are a loner, and even so, you have longed for your wife forever, and even so, you two have found each other in the end. Because, Goth, nobody is an absolute loner in the end. In the end, no man is an island. We are all intertwined with each other and cannot do without other people.”
Eron stops for some instants, takes out a pack of smokes from his right trouser pocket, and lights a cigarette. After a few deep drags, he resumes his speech.
“Even me, a complete loner by deeds am not alone in my existence. I have my dreams accompanying me and the cheers of the fans supporting my fights. That’s why even I, have never felt lonesome even being alone most of the time. Because if a man has true Dreams and Passions to follow, he is never by himself. Even on my most gloomy days, I have never been all by myself, because I had wishes to follow and goals to achieve.”
Eron stops and waves his hand in the air as if he would want to chase away a fly.
“Now, if you would take away my dreams and my passions, then I would really and truly be alone. That’s why I will never allow you, Goth, to take away my accomplishment. I will not allow you to take away this belt, the W: UK World Champion Belt, because then I would fall and it would be difficult to be able to stand up In the bitter end…”
He stops again for some instants. Apparently reevaluated what he said, and then started to speak in a more passionate tone.
“Well, maybe I expressed myself wrongly there. You might even be able to win the fight and take away the belt, but what you can never take away is my fighting spirit and my dream of being the best there is right now. That you can never take away, Goth. No matter if you win or lose, what you will have to accept is that the fight against Eron Hunter is one of the most tough fights you have ever had, because I fight for what I dream, Goth, and that will never change.
The fact that I give it all in the ring, might heart and soul, will never change. Because if it was otherwise I wouldn’t be able to look myself in the mirror. Because if it was like that, I would truly be lonesome, melancholic, and hollow.
But it isn’t like that.
It will never be like that.
And that is why you respect me Goth. That is why almost everyone does. Because win or no win, I give my all in the squared circle and the fighters facing me, as well as the fans, know and sense that. That is why I am never alone, although I might be a loner in the end. A man is defined not by what he says or not, Goth, he is defined by his deeds. You might have all the good intentions in the world, but if you do not act according to your heart's wishes and do not fight to make them a reality, you are nothing but a great theory crafter who abstracts all the time but has not the might to turn his words into facts. And theory without practice is as empty as only practice without wishes and theory.”
Eron stands up, hands in his trouser pockets and cigarette on the left corner of his mouth, and starts pacing around the room, slowly.
“So I have earned your respect, and that is a great thing indeed because you have to earn mine too, and sometimes things are mutual. Fight for what you believe in, with all your might Goth and you will earn my respect. Win or no Win. Because a man is defined by his deeds beyond his words. Goth, this will be a tough fight, because you are facing a World Champion who has been a World Champion since the age of childhood, why? Because ever since then I dreamt big and had the might to turn my dreams into deeds.
Fight strongly Goth
With all your might
With all your Heart
And maybe, just maybe, you might find the power to overcome any hindrance.”
Eron stands there, looking in front of him, as everything fades slowly into the dark.
