“We are made of flesh and bones.
Without our dreams, recycled, we wouldn’t be more worth than a roll of toilette paper”
The young man sits on a sofa, in a dimly lit room as usual, with a bottle of whiskey standing above a small, wooden, table which is placed in front of him. He takes the bottle and fills the small glass with whiskey, then takes a small sip out of the glass.
“Questions
The need for answers is what has brought civilization to its current standards. Humans have always had questions, and the attempts to answer those questions have brought forth evolution.”
He leans back on the sofa, arms wide open and resting on that same sofa. He stares at the ceiling above takes a deep breath, and then slowly sighs.
“Answers
We don’t always have them, but when we do, we should attempt to fill the empty question places in our hearts. Because the hunger for them is almost insatiable and the suffering brought up by the very lack of those very answers is almost insurmountable.
Almost.
Because we act and fight to find those very answers, until we do, and then move on to other questions. It’s the Human Nature at its simplest. So, Kasper Van Zant, I will do my best to answer questions, your questions. And in doing so I will attempt to make you understand why I am who I am, and why I have managed to achieve what I have achieved.
And why I think that I might, just might, emerge victorious in our upcoming clash.”
He crosses his arms on his chest, staring holes in front of him. His mood is calm, his voice placid, he is not angered nor hateful toward the object to whom he is speaking.
“As I said, Dreams are the Alpha and Omega of Human Existence. Without them, we would be mere pieces of flesh. Not much worth it. And thus, I have always said, meaning it, that humans should always fight for their dreams. Always. Kasper, you come at me asking why I am attempting to crush your dreams…
…I am not.
What I am actually doing is fighting for MY dreams, letting you know that you should do so for yours. But when two dreams clash, what is the end result? One of them fighters and his Dreams are bound to let the victor, the other Dreamer pass through, and bow down for a simple instant. Does that mean that that fighter and his Dream are forever lost?
No.
It actually means something entirely different. In losing to another Vision, we merely accept the fact that we are bound to fight harder for ours. That our Vision, our Dream is worth fighting for, even if sometimes we have to accept the fact that we took a beating and that the road to be traveled is a bit tougher and longer. So, what I mean is that sometimes losses just strengthen our Ideas and Ideals, and although the path traveled is arduous, we cherish the moment in which we will achieve what we want, even if the route has had some side-tracking in it.
So, what I mean is that fighting for what you believe in, even if that fight might be lost on that day, is better than doing nothing and becoming a vegetable. Kasper Van Zant, even if the path in front of you is arduous, even if you have to take some losses, do not ever give up Hope. Never ever give up hope, for one day, if the will is strong and the desire plenty, you will achieve what you are yearning for.
Even if that desire and that dream take a beating from another dreamer and his dream.”
Eron stops for some instant and then takes a drag out of the cigarette he is holding. After one or two drags, he resumes his speech.
“That brings me to your second question, Kasper, that being why I fight for what I fight. Why do I cling to this belt with so much effort and might? That is an easy answer, Van Zant. I do that because it has been the dream of my life. Being the best fighter possible. Ever or at that given moment. And now that I am? Now that I am I find so much pleasure in the status and the challenges it brings forth, that I am unwilling to let that go.
That is why I fight, Kasper.
That is my wish
Dream
Raison D’etre.
It is what I have longed for, for so many years that it has become a part of me. That I cannot and will not give up, whatever the cost for me. At least not without fighting. So, if you have the will and desire in your heart and manage to beat me? I will understand and respect that fact. But do not wait for me to handle you that belt, that championship belt without a grandiose fight.
That is what I do and who I am
Kasper Van Zant.
And now that you have your answers, now that your questions are no longer such, what will you do? Will you stand up and fight or will you fret and despair while giving up? It is your choice, fighter. Mine is to stand tall for my beliefs and my Desires. Embrace my Dreams and become one with them, while fighting to maintain them.
See you in the Ring.
And may the Deity of Combat bless your spirit.”
