Madam Web is one of the most obscure characters in the spider verse and the first time I saw her was in Marvel's event known as Spider Island. She was the first papalegic super hero being she is both blind and in a wheel chair with almost the same psychic powers as Marvel's Dr. Strange. This origin story starts with Cassandra's mother's years before searching the Peruvian jungle for a rare spider and finds it before her supposedly trusted assistant, Ezekiel, shoots her and leaves her for dead not realizing a tribe of spider men find her save her child. The child grows up in New York City as Cassandra, an EMT, who also happens to also have the psychic ability to see visions of the future but nobody believes her or even takes her seriously. One night she has visions of three teenagers with abilites like Cassandra's and she finds them only to be pursued by Ezekiel and they flee to the country. She learns not to leave them alone and tracks them down to a diner dancing on a table where five high school athletes are enjoying it only to be tracked down by Ezekiel in costume and doing the best destruction of a diner since The Terminator. They flee back to the city and make their final stand and come together as a team to battle Ezekiel. I liked the performances in this movie especially Dakota Jennings as Cassandra and Tahir Rahim, last seen in Black Adam as the villian once again shines as the evil Ezekiel. The action was fun especially when all four were bonding reminiscent to last years The Marvels but with slightly better action. I did love the chase scene involving Madame Web and the rest of her future team driving an ambulance and using explosives in a fireworks warehouse with Ezekiel in pursuit. I hope to see a sequel to this movie it was that good and I hope that psychic vision comers true.
