Mongo the Destroyer, Spike Kane, and 3 more like this

The tea room is gloomily lit as usual. Among the clutter of mismatched vintage furniture, diagrams of a sheep's hoof and a sketch of the crucifixion of Jesus, except the main focus is on the Roman soldiers walking away, but they're not important.
There's some old posters on a musty couch, for Tapout 12, 18 and 19, haphazardly draped about. The air feels old and still, but the tea set on the little table is fresh and clean. Full bowl of spotted sugar cubes
Random: This widnae be right as a lecture, or a lab session. Doubt the cave is the right place. This is the place for reflection, and the past
She's in full casual mode, her voice not drifting off anywhere potentially weird or complex, maybe about 0.9 on the "Americans will understand this easily" level
Random: Life does that. The universe does that. Ye cannae avoid losing people, that's just how life works. And there's always losing people in this world. Less now, but it still happens. An intense world of expression, emotion and extroversion. Throw everything oot in front of people, and do it to excess. There's always casualties. There's no really anything like wrestling that produces those highs, and the lows of the losses.
I never got to meet Steve Awesome, but I knew him. His t-shirts did the rounds at my wrestling school. He was one that got talked about there. Some people gushed about him, some quietly appreciated what he was doing.
A few of them used to get high and binge the Shitstorm series over a weekend off, if they could get away with it. But fuck it, he was making his money, his name and making titles his own before I could dae a Muta Lock. Or Higher Maths.
But this vocation, ye know... there's always that cursed side. People can just drop out of nowhere, and that's it. That unique fear and risk that anybody could be no' turning up and there's a sombre production meeting...
Another flashy glitch cut, black and white cars on tracks lined with haybales, grainy 70s footage of the fastest racing cars taking the jumps at the Nürburgring, two marshals running across a South African track to tend to a minor fire before it thankfully glitches back to the tea room
Random: ...it's us and motorsport, naebody else can fully compare that experience beat Unless you grew up in a town wi' an industrial asbestos action group or something like that.
Naebdy else has a job where you get to go to three friends' funerals a year, on average
She looks down at the bowl of sugar cubes, then the milk, flicking her eyes for something else.
But there's nothing but an awkward, brief silence
Random: But the universe is always in flux. Everything goes on somehow, and those that aren't coming with us become the good memories and inspiration for the rest.
Some memories seem better or worse. But after, once it's over, they're all cherished, and all full of stuff you can learn from...
Random makes an aside glance
Random: Always check for weapons on the apron before the first bell, you don't get a chance to sort that out after
Glitch cut to shaky alternate angles from Tapout 18, mostly two pairs of legs, and an out-of-focus whiskey bottle on the apron, before we cut abruptly again
Random: I've nae idea how he managed it, and I doubt he knew, but after Tapout 18 I passed a concussion test perfectly. And that was a full bottle as well!
He came up to me after and checked in. He said I must've got lucky...
...and he's probably the only one that could've got away with saying that to me. He had that smile, where you just know his intent like. He's wild... and wild is alright. Sometimes it's predictable, sometimes you dunno... Tommy wiz hardly me though...
He got his Christmas present, and his big title match main event.
It's funny that, the man who was always in flux, was the most regular guy for a Tapout title match. Had more chances at it than anybody.
More than me. I've had none. So far.
She playfully smirks
Random: It's no' like it's a good sample size. He was only around for three champions. And there's been one since. Tommy got the chance at Aiden Merric that I didnae. And Aiden learned from my match...
Random: And noo, it's up tae me and Aiden Merric to put on something.
This isnae gonnae be a contest, or a vicious, personal blood feud.
This is aboot the last connection to Tommy Strychnine in the ring, that everybody saw collectively. The performance. He wisnae a scientist, he wisnae a technician, and he wisnae an artist. He was something else, and he's synonymous with Tapout title matches. Honestly, it's kind of fitting his last match was a title match.
And he got there by defeating me. Two matches that summed up what Tommy was really aboot. Turn up against perfect...
She stumbles, looking for something other than 'order' to say, then finds it
Random: ...tion, and some how win it. Then have the wildest time in a big main event. Again.
I suppose he finished how he started, and how he continued.
And noo we've all got to continue somehow. It's fitting Aiden Merric's there next week. We're no' the big title match that could have been. Maybe I'm no the right challenger for him. Maybe there was another champion for me?
The meticulous hunter and the ethereal mathematician. Two wrestlers, the last entries on Tommy's Cagematch page. Showing what we picked up from two matches, one bottle, zero titles and negative grudges. Just seeing what we can do in his honour, just that.
A pure exhibition of hitting with power, against perfect technique. Maybe it'll be ten minutes, maybe twenty, maybe half an hour? Who knows, these shows are strange. The one time it's no' actually aboot winning. Nae titles or rankings or points, just that
It's two wrestlers, the last on Tommy's list, showing what we picked up from two matches. One bottle, zero titles, negative grudges. Just about seeing what we can do in there to honour the guy
She picks up the teacup and sips gently
Random: What else is left to say? It's a memorial show, it's about Tommy. And Steve, no' us.
This is our closure for everything they two brought to us. It's the first time we go with them no longer current.
The tide flows like that, and we cannae stop it. Just appreciate who's all there while they're there...
we end there, no slide, and no cute text. What is there you can put there right now, anyway?

McConalogue collapses backwards, stunned and bleeding. Tommy scrambles over and covers, making sure to discard the broken bottle neck before the referee can spot it…
ONE!
TWO!
THREE!
Rhod Williams calls for the bell!
DING! DING! DING!

Tommy barely suppresses a laugh but manages to keep a straight face as “Big” John points towards the corner where a bottle of Jack Daniels sits. The Rock ‘Em, Sock ‘Em Wrestler shrugs his shoulders nonchalantly as Quinn continues to lay down the law.
Steve Morrison: We’ve seen the challenger unleash the Whiskey Tango Foxtrot to win matches in recent months.
Cross Recoba: Again, the Match Official and ring crew here are well-versed in how to deal with foreign objects!
A ringside crew member removes the sourmash whiskey and passes it to the timekeeper as Quinn sends the two fighters to their respective corners.
