Inside the small dimly lit casino, David Slam II sat at a table staring at a pile of chips. He looked at the cards before him, and reached for the nearly empty glass at his hand. He lifted it, downing a shot before he shook his head. He tapped the cards, and the dealer flipped them.
‘Bust!’
Slam muttered, and started to rise before a cold voice growled.
‘Get my friend another.’
A chip hit the table, and Slam II stared at it before he looked up. His own face looked back at him, distorted and warped in the metal visage of the Scourge. He shook his head looking away, but he took the drink when the waitress brought it.
‘What do you want?’
Donzig hissed, and he leaned closer.
‘What do you think I want? I want to wallow in your misery, David. I want to bask in it. I want to look in your eyes, and see how once I again? I have broken you.’
Slam took a drink, swallowing it with a slow nod. Donzig had been cheap, but the Scourge seemed to love showing off how much money he had. This was top shelf shit really.
‘Kasper is going to kick your ass, old man.’
Donzig sniffed.
‘Don’t do that, don’t lie. You know that isn’t true. Kasper is very good, better than you were, better than your father. She might even be great, but–’
Slam took another drink, and he didn’t answer. He knew exactly what the thing was saying, Donzig was on a different order.
‘God, I hate you.’
‘Why? I made you. As much as Drake, as much as Donzig-gun, you are one of my creations. Made in my image. I am as much your father as that piece of shit David Slam. All of your life? The lives of your children? My work.’
Slam grunted, and he turned to face Donzig.
‘You killed my father! My wife! You took everything from me! Everything! Nothing I can ever do will even touch you! Why can’t you leave me be!’
Donzig stared at him, and he tapped his fingers against the table. Then he scooped up a chip, slowly turning it in his fingers before he flicked it into the air. He snapped it from the air, and his head tilted.
‘Your father betrayed me. I made your father, I made David Slam great! And everything I ever gave him! EVERYTHING! He threw back in my face and crawled over to eat scraps from the table of my enemies! But he’s the victim? You’re the fucking victim! No, no, no, I don’t think so!
I could have had anything I wanted at Dominion! They would have given me anything! And I decided I wanted to destroy your precious daughter, I would lay her low like I did your son! I will take the WUK Heavyweight Title, and you will watch the fucking despair enter her eyes!’
Slam hit the table, and he started to rise. Then he froze, and drew back.
‘You want me to attack you.’
‘Yes. And I will leave you bloody, one more distraction for your precious Kasper. So take your shot, David! Take your fucking shot!’
Slam sat back down, and he shook his head as he drew the glass close. He stared down at it, and he shook his head.
‘Why me?’
Donzig stared at him, and he looked at the chip in his hand before he murmured.
‘You’re part of the past, David. When I broke your arm, and looked at you from Donzig’s eyes? Well, that was a beginning. You see I hate Timmy Draven because he looks at me, and all I can see is love. He loves me, I am his brother, his flesh and blood. He loves me no matter what I do. I am his last link to the Ringmaster.’
A hiss.
‘Anthony, sees his old friend. He wants Donzig back, his Donzig. I am the part of him that he fears, but he still thinks of me as his old partner. A tame beast.’
Donzig dropped the chip, and he looked into the darkness.
‘But you? You and Fox? You have looked into my eyes. You know what I am. And that is why I hate you both. You know what I am: nothing. All that is left of me is hatred of them all.’
Slam shivered, and he took a long drink. Then he turned to find the mask looking at him again, and Donzig hissed as he leaned closer. Head tilting as dark eyes lingered on his own, and Donzig reached out to smooth his jacket.
‘I am many things, David. I am a demon given flesh, a monster, the shadow of a ruthless man. His nightmares and regrets given form. But you see, David? Inside of that ring? I am as a God. And that is what your little girl is walking into. I will show her no mercy, David. You know that.’
Donzig leaned closer.
‘And you know that I will make sure Fox knows what I am capable of before I make him hand me the WUK Heavyweight Championship.’
Slam growled.
‘Go fuck yourself.’
Donzig laughed, that horrible rasping laughter echoing across the casino. The patrons blinked, a few actually shuddering as the laughter of the Scourge rolled and hissed through the room. He flicked the chip towards Slam, and he slid away from the table.
‘See you soon.’
‘Bust!’
