The scene opens to a long dirt road in the Adirondack Mountains of Upstate New York. More importantly, it’s the land and home that Pro Wrestling Hall of Famer, Timmy Draven owns. For those of you who have never met Timmy Draven, he’s the mentor and father like figure to “The High Roller” Wesley Crane. Driving down the dirt road in a plum purple Jeep pickup truck, Wesley looks determined… he looks serious, compared to the cocky grin that he usually sports across his face.
As he drives down the dirt road, he looks around at the leaves that are in peak season. The colors of yellow, red and orange can be seen everywheres. Leaves falling from the trees as he drives down the road. Suddenly, in the distance he can see a log cabin with smoke coming out of the chimney. In the front yard is Timmy Draven chopping wood with his ax. Once he sees Wesley’s Jeep coming, he leans the ax up against a tree that’s close by and wipes his hands off on his jeans. The Jeep stops and Wesley steps out. He reaches over to the passenger side and grabs his jacket.
“The High Roller” Wesley Crane: “Brr, it’s fucking cold. This weather makes Syracuse feel like a tropical island.”
The footsteps get louder as Timmy steps on the fallen leaves from the trees above. Wesley turns around to see his mentor. As soon as they see one another, they embrace in a hug.
Timmy Draven: “I know I’ve told you before, but when you’re at Draven Acres, you need to watch your mouth. We have families that live on the land who have children.”
Wesley Crane: “Fair enough. My apologies.”
Timmy Draven: “Follow me.”
Timmy and Wesley walk to the fireplace. Timmy has a small fire going. They both sit down on the wooden Adirondack chairs.
Wesley Crane: “Do you remember when I battled Billy Fowler?”
Timmy Draven: “I do. The only way it could end was inside a Terror Dome because there was so much hatred between you two.”
Wesley Crane: “Exactly. Well, now there’s a new war.”
Timmy Draven: “With Kasper Van Slam?”
Wesley Crane: “Yes. She’s gone too far and now I must end her.”
Timmy Draven: “Too far? You mean like making everyone think you were one of the good guys, just to turn around and stab her in the back?”
Wesley Crane: “That was pretty genius wasn’t it?”
Timmy Draven: “Many years ago I would have said yes… but that’s not who I am anymore. I haven’t been the same guy in many years.”
Wesley Crane: “Timmy, I called for this war to end… inside the TerrorDome.”
Timmy Draven: “Like you did against Billy Fowler.”
Wesley Crane: “Exactly… but this match is going to be more dangerous than ever. The hatred between Kasper and myself is unlike anything I’ve ever been involved in before.”
Timmy stands up, grabs a couple pieces of wood and then places them on the fire. He stands there and rubs his hands together, trying to warm up.
Timmy Draven: “Be careful with that kind of hatred in your heart. Do you know what the bible says about having hatred in your heart?”
Wesley Crane: “No, but I’m sure you’re going to tell me.”
Timmy Draven: “Ephesians 4:31 and 32 says: 'Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.'”
Wesley Crane: “No offense, Timmy, but that biblical stuff won’t work with me.”
Timmy Draven: “That’s fine. It’s not my job to judge you. It’s my job to love you and help you as much as I can. So what do you need from me?”
Wesley Crane: “I need… a place to focus. I need to train for this match in peace. I can’t have High Roller Club distractions. No casino business. I need to focus, Timmy, and I don’t think I can do that at home. Can I stay here for a few days?”
Timmy smiles.
Timmy Draven: “Wesley, you know you’re always more than welcome to stay here at Draven Acres.”
Wesley Crane: “And can I use the Draven Barn to train in?”
Timmy Draven: “It’s not the same type of workout equipment you’re used to, but you’re more than welcome to it.”
Wesley Crane: “Do you feel like helping me train?”
Timmy Draven: “Like old times?”
Wesley Crane: “Yeah, exactly.”
Timmy Draven: “Alright… but know this, there’s no cursing, no drinking and no drugs at Draven Acres. You’ll have everything you need as long as you follow those rules, deal?”
Wesley nods in agreement.
Timmy Draven: “I need to hear you say it.”
Wesley Crane: “None of the fun stuff, got it.”
Timmy Draven: “Alright, but remember, I’M training YOU… so you drop the ego and start listening to what I have to say… speaking of listening, grab that ax. Training starts now. That stack of wood needs to be split and stacked.”
Wesley isn’t sure what to say. The last thing he was expecting was to start immediately.
Wesley Crane: “Uh, I thought we’d start tomorrow morning or somethi-”
Timmy Draven: “Training starts NOW. Get up and start chopping wood.”
Wesley Crane: “And what in the hel-”
Timmy Draven: “Language.”
Wesley Crane: “What are you going to be doing?”
Timmy Draven: “I’m going to go inside, kiss my wife and kids and get a cup of coffee. I’ll grab you some water and then come back out. While I’m gone, make sure the fire doesn’t go out.”
Wesley Crane: “Okay.”
Wesley stands up and grabs the ax. Timmy walks toward the log cabin. Wesley yells out to his mentor.
Wesley Crane: “Hey Timmy?”
Timmy Draven: “Yeah?”
Wesley Crane: “Thanks.”
Timmy Draven: “Anytime, my boy. Anytime.”
Scene Ends.
