The scene opens to a cold and rainy morning in the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York. Instead of a custom Hummer Limo, we see a plum purple Jeep pickup truck. Inside is none other than the Wrestle: United Kingdom World Extreme Champion, Wesley Crane and his (don’t you dare call her girlfriend) “lady-friend,” the lead interviewer for WUK, Katie Moss. As they drive through the country settling, there’s tall pine trees all over the place. Katie looks out the passenger side window, really enjoying the view. She reaches over and grabs Wesley’s right hand so she can hold it. With their fingers intertwined with one another, Katie can’t help but smile. She looks over at Wesley who has a smile on his face as well. It’s obvious that Katie’s feeling pretty happy about things. She’s the one who wanted to go to the Adirondacks to visit Wesley’s mentor, the Professional Wrestling Hall of Famer, Timmy Draven and his family for the holidays. Katie leans in and places her head on Wesley’s right shoulder.
Katie Moss: “I’m really happy that we’re doing this. It’s about time I met Timmy’s family. I met him when he was at Wrestle: United Kingdom for that one match, but we didn’t spend any real time together. I’m excited to meet them all. Do you think his wife and I will get along?”
Wesley gets a smile on his face.
“The High Roller” Wesley Crane: “What’s the matter, are you nervous?”
Katie lifts her head up and slaps him on the shoulder.
Katie Moss: “So what if I am?!? I just want them to like me. It’s important to me.”
“The High Roller” Wesley Crane: “Stop worrying… they’ll love you. Speaking of “they”... I need to tell you something before we get there.”
Katie looks concerned.
“The High Roller” Wesley Crane: “Draven Acres is… well… how do I put this… Well, it’s either a commune or a cult. I’m not sure which one it is, but regardless, the people seem nice.”
Katie smiles at Wesley.
Katie Moss: “Don’t worry, Wesley, I already did my fair share of research on Timmy Draven and Draven Acres. If I didn’t think this was going to be a fun time, I wouldn’t have asked to come here. I’m not worried about all of them. I love people. I work with people. I’m surrounded by people. I’m excited to see this community.”
“The High Roller” Wesley Crane: “Okay, good… We’re almost there.”
Katie looks back out the window. As they reach the dirt road entrance to Draven Acres, Katie looks out the window again. She gasps and points.
Katie Moss: “It’s a deer. Do you see that? It’s beautiful.”
“The High Roller” Wesley Crane: “And tasty.”
Katie reaches over and slaps Wesley on the shoulder.
Katie Moss: “Not funny.”
“The High Roller” Wesley Crane: “Uh, I should probably warn you, everything you’re about to eat for the next few days are all things that were raised and killed on this land. Including venison.”
Katie raises an eyebrow a little.
Katie Moss: “Give examples.”
“The High Roller” Wesley Crane: “They raise their own cattle for milk and for meat. They raise their own chickens for meat and for eggs. They raise their own turkeys. So when we sit down for our Thanksgiving meal, our turkey is extremely fresh… and delicious. You’ve never had a real Thanksgiving meal until you’ve had fresh turkey.”
Katie Moss: “I can deal with that.”
“The High Roller” Wesley Crane: “When I say these people are self sustainable, I mean it. They grow their own food. They raise and kill their own food. They use solar panels. Some live completely off the grid. They believe in wind power. They have creeks on the property. They have water barrels to catch rain off of their metal roofs. I’m not going to lie, part of it weirds me out… but at the same time, there’s something about it that intrigues me.”
Katie Moss: “Oh, I’m fascinated by it.”
“The High Roller” Wesley Crane: “Look, we’re here.”
Katie looks out the front window. In the distance you can see a smaller log cabin with a wrap around front porch. There’s smoke coming from the chimney. Off to the side is another smaller cabin that sits there. The main cabin belongs to Timmy and his family. The smaller cabin is their guest cabin. As they pull up front, the wooden porch door opens and out walks Timmy with an umbrella in hand. He waits for the Jeep pickup truck to stop moving and then he opens the passenger side door. He reaches the umbrella out, letting Katie have it to stay dry.
Katie Moss: “Oh, thank you. I really appreciate it.”
Timmy leans in and gives Katie a half hug.
Timmy Draven: “You’re welcome. Welcome to Draven Acres. I know it’s a little rainy today, so we’ll spend most of our time inside my cabin. Follow me, my wife, Desiree, is in there doing some prep work for tomorrow’s Thanksgiving feast.”
Katie Moss: “Oh, perfect. If you don’t mind, I think I’ll head inside to meet her and see if I can help with anything.”
Timmy hands her the umbrella.
Timmy Draven: “Thank you. The community appreciates you. I appreciate you.”
Katie heads off toward the cabin. Wesley walks around the truck and gives his mentor a hug.
“The High Roller” Wesley Crane: “Where’s my umbrella?”
Timmy laughs.
Timmy Draven: “Being that you’re not sugar, I figured you wouldn’t melt. Here, why don’t you let me help you with your bags. You two will be staying in the guest cabin. I took the liberties of starting a fire in the woodstove for you. Wanted to make sure it was comfortable for you both.”
“The High Roller” Wesley Crane: “Thanks, Timmy. I appreciate it.”
Timmy Draven: “You’re welcome. The community appreciates you. I appreciate you.”
“The High Roller” Wesley Crane: “Yeah, yeah, yeah. Here, you can carry MY bags.”
Timmy grins.
Timmy Draven: “Don’t get too used to it.”
Timmy grabs Wesley’s bags while Wesely grabs Katie’s. They walk into the smaller cabin and place the bags down on the floor.
Timmy Draven: “Warm enough in here for you?”
“The High Roller” Wesley Crane: “Yeah, but where’s the television? Football’s on television on Thanksgiving.”
Timmy laughs.
Timmy Draven: “Not at Draven Acres.”
Wesley shoots Timmy a look.
“The High Roller” Wesley Crane: “How about an AM radio? I’m sure I could get the games on one of those old radios.”
Timmy Draven: “Yeah, we have a radio, but it won’t be used on Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is a day to spend with family, not to indulge in American sports.”
“The High Roller” Wesley Crane: “Fine… I’ll accept it… but I don’t like it.”
Timmy Draven: “Shall we head to the cabin?”
“The High Roller” Wesley Crane: “We shall… but before we head over there, I’ve got something I need to talk to you about.”
Timmy Draven: “Alright, what’s up?”
“The High Roller” Wesley Crane: “So as you know, I’ve been seeing Katie for over 2yrs now.”
Timmy Draven: “Good, I like her.”
“The High Roller” Wesley Crane: “I’m thinking about asking her to become more serious. Like, maybe making this thing official.”
Timmy Draven: “Wesley Crane, the settled down man… I like it.”
“The High Roller” Wesley Crane: “So you think it’s a good idea?”
Timmy Draven: “I think it’s a great idea. When are you thinking about doing this?”
“The High Roller” Wesley Crane: “I thought I’d do it right now.”
Timmy Draven: “Great. Let’s go see the ladies.”
Timmy and Wesley walk out of the guest cabin and walk across the yard to get to Timmy’s cabin. They enter the porch. Timmy looks at Wesley.
Timmy Draven: “You ready for this?”
“The High Roller” Wesley Crane: “Never been more ready for anything.”
Timmy Draven: “Here, grab some wood. You never go in empty handed.”
They enter the cabin. Inside, Katie and Timmy’s wife, Desiree are talking at the table, enjoying a cup of coffee. As soon as they see Timmy and Wesley, they stand up. Desiree walks right over to Wesley and gives him a kiss on the cheek.
Desiree Draven: “Oh Wesley, it’s so nice to see you again.”
“The High Roller” Wesley Crane: “Where would you like this wood?”
Desiree Draven: “Right over there.”
Desiree points next to the fireplace.
Desiree Draven: “Would you like a coffee?”
“The High Roller” Wesley Crane: “Sure… but first, I need to talk to Katie about something.”
Katie looks in the direction of Wesley. He has placed the wood down and is now walking back toward her. He walks up to her and grabs her hands.
Katie Moss: “What is this, Wesley?”
“The High Roller” Wesley Crane: “Well, it’s been a couple of years since we started hanging out… and well… I think it’s time for us to become more serious.”
Katie gets a huge smile on her face.
Katie Moss: “Okay…”
“The High Roller” Wesley Crane: “So Katie, I have a very serious question to ask you.”
Katie can’t take the suspense. She has a huge smile on her face.
“The High Roller” Wesley Crane: “Katie, my dear… Will you do me the honor…”
Katie interrupts him.
Katie Moss: “YES!”
“The High Roller” Wesley Crane: “Of being my…”
Katie Moss: “YES!”
“The High Roller” Wesley Crane: “My personal manager?”
Katie immediately looks crushed. She lets go of Wesley’s hands and takes a step back.
Katie Moss: “No! No, I won't be your personal manager. I’m not some piece of arm candy that you can trance around the ring. I can’t believe you. Of all the smug asinine things you’ve said and done, this one really tops it off.”
Wesley gets a smile on his face.
“The High Roller” Wesley Crane: “Be my girlfriend.”
Katie stops yelling.
Katie Moss: “Wh- What?”
“The High Roller” Wesley Crane: “You heard me. Be my girlfriend!”
Katie Moss: “But what about the personal manager thing?”
“The High Roller” Wesley Crane: “Well, that’s up to you… but that’s not what this is about. This is about you and me, taking things to the next step. So, what do you say?”
Without saying anything else, Katie leans in and wraps her arms around Wesley’s neck and gives him a kiss.
Katie Moss: “My answer is yes. Yes, I'll be your girlfriend.”
With that said, Timmy and Desiree begin clapping for Wesley and Katie as the scene ends.
Katie Moss: “I’m really happy that we’re doing this. It’s about time I met Timmy’s family. I met him when he was at Wrestle: United Kingdom for that one match, but we didn’t spend any real time together. I’m excited to meet them all. Do you think his wife and I will get along?”
