For Pedro Benevides, EWE'S head booker this is the most probable scenario if he ever manages to open EWE. Fans have to be conquered over time in order to succeed in the industry. Surely there aren't many other creative minds in Portugal like Pedro Benevides an ex-wrestler himself. But the closing of the beloved company that Benevides was heading really broke the Portuguese hearts.
The financial resources that EWE has at their disposal are quite limited and when the deal with the mayor of Portimão broke, the hopes of seeing the promotion debuting soon in the big venue that is Portimão Arena, 6000 square meters, are flushed down the toilet. We are 100% sure. That won't happen soon.
It has also been hard for Pedro Benevides to get workers to work for his company, mostly because there aren't many Portuguese rookies in the industry and wrestlers from around the world reject to come into EWE for the small sum of money that Benevides can offer to them. But, EWE marketing team wrote a statement today on the company website that might change some wrestlers and fans opinion! And we quote:
"The mayor of Portimão always seemed as a man "with a word". But it's our fault. We forgot that in a corrupt system like the one we live in Portugal, respect, word, honor no longer exists. Money speaks louder than actions and words and he has become a "yes, man!"
But Benevides and the EWE staff still have a word. And we will promote an event in Portimão in the near future!
It's with pleasure that we announce our connection to the XHF Network to help us start building our own roster! Wrestlers from XHF Network will occasionally appear at our events!
Names from all over the world are being contacted as well to form a regular roster but things aren't going to be easy as our budget took a major cut.
As for the fans in Portimão, the promise of the first event will be honored...
We know that you're eager to see the action back on the Portuguese rings as we are!"
The posted ended with a quote from the head booker, Benevides.
"You don't want things to happen more than I do."
