He admired the quiet moments between storms, watching the dust devils kick up on the Texas sands, even the biting cold of winter reminded him that summer was never far away.
Even a cowboy couldn't escape the needs of modern technology, Horses and maps had made way for Trucks, ATVS and GPS however some of the classics never went out of style.
And that's where Tornado came in.
Tornado was a black Morgan standing at just over 14 hands, and He’d have to leave her in David’s Capable hands whilst he was away, but he couldn’t really resist a last fare well, brushing his mane and keeping him.
David was his father and pretty much head ranger on the farm, he didn’t always approve of Kyle’s profession choices but couldn’t argue that a chance to stand in front of bright lights and go north to show those boys how it’s done wasn’t entirely a bad thing.
It was back in the house that he Found John reading the letter and shaking his head as he peered over the glasses and smirked.
“Boston?! Have you gone and lost your damn mind? I know you think the ‘rasslin’ game will see you right Boy but You sure this is what you want?”
A sly smile crossed Kyles face as he examined his hat and he nodded.
“’s right Pa, it’s what I want, I’m just gonna wait for Uncle Jesse and we’ll head out t’ Houston and that’ll be it I got myself a little place set up, but I promise I’ll fly back and help out when I got time.”
David nodded and finally stood up to clasp a hand about Kyle’s shoulder.
“If your Momma could see you now..”
Kyle was about to respond as the sounds of people moving out of the way could be heard a few shouts, Jesse’s Voice rousing over the cries as the faint glow of sparks were seen through the window.
“Out of my way, you bastards.”
Jesse Frye was a thin gaunt man, who and a thin moustache and wildness in his eyes, along with a cattle prod in his right hand and a wide grin as he lays eyes on Kyle.
“Nephew! We gotta go Git your ass to Boston before your pa persuades to stay behind on th’ ol’ ranch, c’mon Get!”
Tender farewells became hurried good byes and it wasn’t long before Jesse leaned back and smirked whilst he drove.
“So I’m going to join you Boston…”
Kyle blinked and jumped to look at his Uncle.
“The Hell you are!”
Jesse smirked and blew breath as he waved his hand.
“Pffft, I’m just cracking the whip.”
Kyle shook his head and stared out the window as Jesse rattled on about some nonsense his mind turning to the adventure ahead.
We fade in on Kyle smirking into the camera hat pulled low as he speaks.
“Howdy, my name is Kyle Frye, and if you hadn’t reckoned by now I’m new around these parts.”
He smiles more and beams into the cameras features just peeking from under the hat as he keeps speaking.
“Seems the folks in the back are keen on putting me to work, facin’ the other newest member of this roster Shun Lei A case of East meets west and South in th’ North”
He chuckles obviously finding honour in the situation.
“Funny how that works out right? I figure this will be one of those timeless battle of speed and precision against good ol’ grunt, but that’s where you’d be wrong boy, I’m no greenhorn here and I know it takes more than power to work this, I know it takes more than smarts it takes grit.”
A small smirk.
“When we meet Shun Lei, You’re gonna find out I’m full of sand, full of grit I’m not gonna shoot off and make promises, Everyone knows game plan goes out th’ caboose the minute the fists and kick start flying but I’m gonna show those folks out there that I ain’t nothin’ to mess with.”
He nods.
“We don’ know each other that well, we only got rep and whispers to go on, so I reckon we’ll have plenty of time to figure each other out once we square up.”
That gets a chuckle.
“I give you my word Shun Lei You won’t find me some push over, Nothin’ to drop down and stomp on. I garundamntee that I’ll fight you with every inch of my bein’. Don’ matter who you are or where you’re from ‘m a believer in equal opportunity ass whuppin’.”
He smiels again and flexes an arm.
“You take care, Shun Lei and may the best of us win.”
He smirks eyes burying into the camera as he tips his hat.
“Happy Trails.”
