“What in th’ Blue hells was goin’ on with you boy?!”
Jesse cussed some more down the phone at him as Kyle frowned and said.
“Look , that boy just straight up out fought me it’s no damn Mystery Jesse, I’m dissapointed sure but Jus’ means I gotta work some more.”
Jesse could almost be sure to shake his head.
“NO! Boy what you gotta do is you gotta worry less about bein’ friendly and more about takin’ heads I I’m on my way to Boston its clear you ain’t gonna make it up there on yer own!”
Kyle rubbed the bridge of his nose as he sat by the bar and took a sip of beer phone pressed to his ear and sighing.
“Uncle I don’t need a chaperone it’s just one match.”
A derisive snort from the other end of the phone.
“I’ll be there tomorrow Kyle don’ you worry.”
Kyle put the phone down and cursed to himsel a left looking into his beer with a shake of his head.
“Goddamn”
It was whilst he was nuring the drink that the shadow fell over him and he looked into the face of a blonde, blue yes man wearing a cowboy hat and a smile as he spoke.
“Kyle Frye. It’s been a hell of a long time.”
Kyle smiled brightly and stood up with a chuckle.
“Shit, If it isn’t Clint Travis! Th’ hell you doin’ in Boston?!”
Clint laughs returning the hand shake as he greets his old friend nodding as he explained.
“Yer in my Bar Kyle, that’s why I’m here, I saw you were doin’ th’ ‘rasslin’ hows it going?”
Kyle shook his head.
“Got my ass beat in my first match.”
Clint shook his head and smirks a bit before asking.
“Where you staying?”
Kyle shrugged.
“Somewhere, nothin' pretty.”
Clint nods and spoke evenly.
“Well since you did me right a few years again.. I got myself a spare room upstairs with your name on it, be nice to have a friend a from th’ South around again.”
Kyle blinked that and his face said it all even as Clint pushed up with a winning smile and patted his shoulder.
“Ain’t takin’ no for an answer Outlaw.”
Maybe Boston wasn’t so bad after all.
We fade in on Kyle hands clasped as he rubs his hands and smiles just a bit.
“Howdy.”
He wrinkles his nose.
“They figure that vengeance is a dish best served cold, but whoever in the back office dun reckoned that Redemptions is something’ you only gets one shot at and this week I gets my shot in a match between myself and Lucas walker, and Aiden Reynolds an’ Shun Lei reckonin’ an’ redemption is somethin’ me and Walker got in common.”
A small slight grin.
“Folks have worked together for worse reasons. I‘ll help you Walker, you help me you hear?”
He smirks.
“And I’ll sure as shit help you, neither of our starts been the best in this place, but I figure together we can make somethin’. Now onto our opponents, Aiden Reynolds the Australian nightmare.”
He shook his head.
“Some folk would argue Austrialia is and was a brave new frontier, lot o’ your history iin a way followed a bloody parralell o’ ours and you wear you pride like a badge of honour lookin’ to strike down anyone who stands in yer way boy.”
A slight smirk.
“Lemme tell you kid, Pride comes before a fall, and your ass is gonna fall real far, real hard. Tyring the knots in your own rope as you go ain’t no way to live.”
He smirks.
“But between Lucas an’ Me? It’s sure as hell gonna be the way it goes.”
A shake of his head.
“Shun Lei, damn boy you are quick ain’t ya?”
A sly smirk.
“You’re a hard man to figure out, always looking to improve it seems Adjustments will be made am I right but this match will involve you puttin’ trust in someone else, I figure you can do that but I dunno if you can handle the intensity of it I came within a hair’s breadth of takin’ your damn head off and I’ll be damned if I miss your ass a second time.”
He shook his head.
“No way, no how, then you can go back and make yer damn Adjustments.”
He smirks.
“Happy Trails.”
