Kyle wasn’t quite celebrating even after the offered victory, as uncle Jesse was still coming to Boston and he had spent the last few hours listening to the man cussing out everything from the Government to the state of Boston ever since.
“Jesse, will you shut the hell up?”
His Uncle looks ready to throw something at Kyle when the door opens to his little apartment and the winning face of Clint steps in with a sigh.
“Jesse, get outta here.”
Jesse opened his mouth has Clint gestured to the door.
“Leave him Be, You’re driving’ away my customers.”
Jesses Glared at Clint before getting in his face and was about to snarl before he moved out the door with a shake of his head and then Kyle let loose a deep sigh.
“Thanks Clint.”
Clint shook his head and strayed further inside locking the door behind him as he sighs.
“Your Uncle isn’t going to be a problem is he?”
Kyle managed a chuckle.
“Constantly.”
Clint sighed and moved over to put a hand on Kyle’s shoulder even as he gave an exasperated sigh that said it all.
“Shit Kyle, I’m sorry.”
A small chuckle and Kyle took a slow seat even as he shrugged picking out a glass to pour himself a drink.
“It’s ok Clint, Jesse’s heart is in th’ right lace he jus’..Well he just figures I should go out and be a shit kicker all the time , figures That I gotta be a man every second and hell he figures I’m runnin’ away from the ranch by comin’ up here.”
Clint raises a brow and smirks concern lilting his voice.
“And?”
Kyle shakes his head.
“Given Jesse also encouraged me to come out here and make a name for myself doin’ somethin’ else I told him he was fulla shit.”
Clint smirked.
“And that’s when he started ranting?”
Kyle just nodded.
Clint grabbed Kyle’s arm an started to try and pull him for the door and Kyle didn’t move for a second as he looked at the hand and then along to Clint who blinked.
“We gotta get your ass outside Kyle. Listening’ to your uncle and all that shit? It’s toxic, cmon..les’ go. Live a little Kyle.”
And out they go.
We open up on lyrics in the background sung softly a s Johnny Cash's voice strokes the air.
I've wept for those who suffer long
But how I weep for those who've gone
Into rooms of grief and questioned wrong
But keep on killing
We find Kyle straightening up by the ropes and rolling the Lariat arm around as he moves to start working weights voice picking up again.
It's in the soul to feel such things
But weak to watch without speaking
Oh what mercy sadness brings
If God be willing
He Picks up the bar and weights in a clean and jerk eyes bulging out as the plates push past his head in slow motion and the song continues.
There is a train that's heading straight
To heaven's gate, to heaven's gate
And on the way, child and man
And woman wait, watch and wait
For redemption day
We spring back very suddenly to full speed as we have quick cuts to Kyle’s matches in the ring, Luca’s Walkers nasty Spill from the apron and the lariat that earned him victory and then slowly ease back to Kyle sat down , sweat still on his brow as he stares into the camera with that light smile.
“Howdy”
He gives a quiet little salute, twi fingers touching the brow of his head to pint at the camera.
“Let’s not remunerate on the past, I hope Walker will be ok, but. Les’ face it the boy took a hell of a spill, leaves folk like me an’ th’ other to carry on ‘s a sad thing but this business ain’t Ballet.”
That gets a sigh.
“That said, I welcome in my next opponent, The man that is known as Tod Williams, th’ man that since hs arrival ahs promised big things and jus’ ain’t delivered. I got news for you boy, you come in here and try and limp dick me?”
He shakes his head.
“I’m aiming to lariat your ass so hard they’ll hear it in Japan….Twice.”
He shakes his head.
“No I don’t think you figure me for a fool, and I might be amite predictable in that prediction, but a man of your accolades should be tyrin’ harder than he is, and if it’s one thing I can’t abide?”
A smirk and a shake of his head.
“It’s Goddmaned Idleness, so bring yo ass to Boston Boy an’ we’ll see who it is end up they’re countin’ three for.”
He picksup his hat and puts in on over his head tipping it to the camera with a wily grin.
“Happy Trails.”
Fade out.
