"So, here we are. Less than twenty-four hours away from Fury, and where do I find myself this week? Right where I was two weeks ago: Opening the show!"
Mercedes pumps fists in excitement.
"Yes!"
And adds a few twirls in there for good measure.
"This week, though, more of a promotion. I get an opportunity to get one step closer to a title match, and looking at the competition, it can't be that hard. A Power Rangers fangirl, a gamer girl, and a tough girl. Perfect way to spend a Friday night, but this isn't going to make me start tap dancing down the isle. A contendership match? I've won plenty of those, so what's one more?
"Just as I said, Thin Lizzy found out who she was messing with. Tomorrow night, I get to make believers out of three opponents."
Mercedes gives the camera a dismissive wave of her hand, the excitement in her voice remains as she continues.
"Unlike, well, most of you, I'm not going to get myself worked up just to earn a title shot. Lord knows it's hard to be humble when you're successful as I am and I wouldn't want to embarrass the competition or the champion herself. That would be too easy. See, Dawn will face just about anybody to prove herself as a fighting champion. I'm going to through everybody until she has no one else left to fight. The way I see it, it's up to Dawn to keep that championship warm until then because I won't be going anywhere. I guess the same can be said for this Kimberly Williams person. Now, there's some notable family trees out there: the Kanes, obviously. There's the Knites, too. But I'll never understand how the Williams clan got to be where they are. At this point, I've lost count how many of them I've either beaten in my career. It may just come down to genetics, but I can't remember a single one who has ever been successful in the wrestling business. Anyway, the chances of Kimmy winning this week is slim to none, so why bother seeing her as a threat?"
She pauses for a second, then again snaps her fingers
"Caitlyn Wright seems like a pretty good wrestler - when you ignore her cosplaying fetishes - and I do see her as a credible threat. But that was on the last show. This show, she's got two other opponents, and she's got me: The real final boss. Chances are, she probably doesn't take me seriously. Well, I hope she takes me seriously tomorrow night."
Mercedes tucks her checklist under her arm again, then starts rubbing her hands expectantly.
"But this match wouldn't be the spectacle it is without Gwen, and I think after the last few video submissions I've seen from her, she has quite the mouth on her. I can already tell we're going to be the best of friends."
Mercedes swipes a hand over face. The once proud smile she had has transformed into a serious expression.
"Sounds like someone is a little threatened. Sweetie, you don't have to have to say another word. Because we can leave the kids out of it and I'll show you just how wrong you really are."
A pause is met as she starts speaking in Spanish.
"Estar preparado para lo peor, esperar lo mejor."
"Prepare for the worst, hope for the best."
“Y que la suerte está siempre en su favor.”
"And may the odds be ever in your favor."
