Okay, guys, I have a question for you all, I asked this on FaceBook and it went crazy. So what are your thought's on recycling roleplays or reusing roleplays for a different fed or different match? Should you not do it or should you add to them change them up, what? I have seen a lot of people arguing over this and it seems to be a problem so let me know what you all think.

i kinda may or may not have done this in the past and as recently as last year...
if it's a cd like thing that portrays to a character and said character is in like 3 or 4 feds then i say it's totally ok. if your doing it for a purpose then awesome! if your doing it to just be lazy or something then... why?

Unless it's a small bit in a flashback or something, I think you shouldn't recycle RPs. Things you've already written shouldn't be resurfacing in RPs. That's just lazy.

I disagree. Let's say you are moving an older yet well established character to a new fed, I think you could copy their origin story. Like if it explains who their are then it's essentially their bio.
Now it may have to be tailored per fed, and also it would have to be a whole new site too. Like I could move StormCrow somewhere else on the network and report his origins.

I think it's an interesting gray area in fedding. Generally recycling is looked down on- but if it's your own writing who's to tell you not to reuse it?
From my perspective; in terms of character development rps I don't really see an issue with it. Like you guys have mentioned, re-writing your origin story when it hasn't changed for a new fed is sort of repetitive.
HOWEVER, having said that, I think that it's best to always make match rps fresh. If your rp is for a match, don't just dig up your old stuff and call it in like that; that's lazy and might give you a bad reputation if it's found out (even if it is a gray area). I've seen at least one guy here do the same basic rp between feds and it was really easy for me to catch.
The entire point of our game is creative writing. Now if you've written a great creative intro to your character; sure, throw it up as a CD rp. But if you're trying to win a match and you're not creating something new then you really haven't been playing right now have you?
It's kind of one of those "letter of the law" vs "spirit of the law" debates. I'm a "Spirit of the Law" kind of guy anyway so that factors into my feelings on it
That's my two cents anyway

My Rumble RP "In This Ring" was a conceptual recycle of something Taane's father did. I think that's legit because it plays off the whole conflict between being his own man and being his father's son that I was trying to play up.

Why is this such a issue on facebook? I saw that post where people were getting really stupid about it.
If you copy and paste the same stuff from previous roleplays.. it's not right.
If someone is using the same ideas, or general theme... then sure why not. Like, am I going to use the exact same stuff I have written out for Rossdale several years ago? No way. I make up my own stuff as I go, and try to keep it original and add to the character.
The term "recycling" can mean different things. No one should ever be copy and pasting their old stuff and editing it out to make it relevant. That is what recycling means to me. That is lazy... and stupid.
