He lays there in a 10 by 15-foot cell staring up at the ceiling, the anticipation of his release building up more and more by the minute as the clock on the wall outside his cell ticks away each minute. He received his answer from the parole board about two months ago and has less than twenty-four hours left before the guards come and tell him to grab his stuff and follow them out the gates of the prison. Words he has been waiting to hear for the past ten years, the past 3,650 days, the past 87,600 hours. Now as he lays there in his small cell staring at the grey walls as he has done for so many years he has something new to think about.
A friend of his has set him up with a job through the XHF Network a wrestling company, something he has always wanted to do and it's with a foreign Federation called Suzuki Blitz Wrestling located overseas. Not only will he be leaving this prison, this small country bumpkin town of Jefferson City, but this hillbilly state of Missouri. To go to the fast-paced beautiful country of Japan to begin a wrestling career. Hell, he has already been sent his plane ticket, along with everything he needs to have and know to get there along with the information on his first match.
While he lays there thinking about his future and whats in store for him, his homie in the next cell is calling out for him.
Homie...
" CHRONIC... HEY CHRONIC... YO CHRONIC... "
He hears him yelling over to him through the air vents between the two cells as he lays there, after a few more minutes he slowly sits up and yells back over at him.
Eric Chronister...
" What's up Brother? "
Homie...
" So tomorrows the big day huh? "
Eric Chronister...
" Better believe it brother, better believe it! "
Homie...
" So you got plans, you going to go get laid, smoke some chronic whats up? "
He shakes his head and chuckles a bit as he hears the goofy questions from his homie before he replies back.
Eric Chronister...
" Hell, no homie, as soon as I get released I'm on my way to Japan, I have a big-time job over there. Already approved by the parole officer and everything. Plus brother can't smoke anymore against the rules and I ain't coming back here for smoking the CHRONIC!!! "
Homie...
" Yo, you serious what company you, working for? What are you going to do? Sell fish or something. "
He shakes his head again at the racist remark but he knows it's not meant to be racist just his ignorance showing.
Eric Chronister...
" Homie chill I'm going to be wrestling for a new upcoming company called Suzuki Blitz Wrestling already got a match and everything. "
Homie...
" For real CHRONIC? "
Eric Chronister...
" Better believe it brother, I'm facing this thick gorgeous Asian hottie called Kitsune, and another chick by the name of Mulan Li. I don't know much about them but trust me I will before my match. "
Homie...
" That's jacked... "
As he listens to his homie talking he thumbs through the envelope with all of the papers and tickets he will need when he is released and notices there is a disc in there marked "WATCH ME!!!" on it. he put's it back in the envelope and makes a mental note to watch as soon as he gets out.
Homie...
" Do you think you can win CHRONIC? Them chicks are probably trained in martial arts and stuff being from Japan and all. Plus they have probably been wrestling forever only thing you been doing is fighting in the prison league fight club. "
Eric Chronister...
" No worries brother, I wrestled in school, I have watched wrestling my whole life besides the prison league has pretty much prepared me for anything, you know damn well these guys never played fair anyways. "
He picks up the racket ball from the shoebox under his bunk and begins to bounce it off the cell wall as he talks to his homie.
Homie...
" But CHRONIC, these are professionals these are athletes will you be able to hang with them? "
Eric Chronister...
" Hey brother, it's nothing but a chicken wing, like pops over in C-Block use to say 'You never know what you can do until you try!' so come RoseStorm July 26, 2018, at The Yokohama Cultural Gymnasium we will see just what I can do. "
Eric Chronister...
" Plus I'm stronger, bigger, meaner when I want to be and I'm sure as hell more dominant than anyone over there. I will use my first match to make a statement and show the roster that I mean business. "
As he continues to bounce the racket ball off the wall one of the prison guards walks by telling him thirty minutes till chow time. He thinks to himself only three more meals until he walks through the gates and is a free man again. "
Homie...
" Yo CHRONIC, you know we're having beans and cornbread tonight you think I can get your cornbread? Since you fixing to be a free man soon and everything. "
Eric Chronister...
" Homie you can have the whole damn tray if you want it because as soon as I get out I'm hitting up the local Burger King and getting me a triple Whopper and a chocolate Shake and a freakin large fry. "
Homie...
"Yo damn CHRONIC... why do you have to be so mean, you're killing me, you know I still have a few more years before I get out. "
While his homie is pleading with him not to be so mean he lays there laughing at the thought of eating a triple Whopper right outside the gates as everyone watches him. He just can't help but smile but he also feels a bit guilty and sorry for the guys who will be still here while he's a free man.
Eric Chronister...
" Tell you what homie when I get my first paycheck, I will send some money to your books, you can eat fat, off of commissary for a while. Just think about it when was the last time you had any money on your books and was able to eat some good food? Like a jailhouse pizza!!! "
Homie...
"CHRONIC, you would do that my own family won't even do that? "
Eric Chronister...
" Hey, homie we have been like family for almost ten years now don't sweat it, it's the least I can do is make sure you have something while you're in here brother. "
About the time he finishes his statement the cell doors pop open and the guards announce chow time...
