2-pac or two pack or how ever you spell his name and B.I.G. rapped about stuff that wasn't just drugs and getting hoes. Hell the Sugarhill Gang didn't even. That crap is just what's so prevalent in rap these days, which sucks. That's why i like logic because he doesn't just rap about hoes and money and drugs. But the real stuff man.
And as far as country goes, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline, Hank Williams Jr. and Sr., and many others are all good examples of what REAL country music is. If you see or hear an electric guitar than it ain't country. It's some rock/country garbage. The only "country" artists that are even close to country in this day and age are Zack Brown Band and Chris Stapleton anymore.

With instruments, I learned a little bit of Violin when I was 6, moved school and never carried it on. After that I hated music lessons right up until I left school and I picked up the guitar. I played that for about 8 years and was decentish. Bass followed but I've always wanted a drum kit. I can play basics but I want to learn to play more.
I tried my hand at keyboard too, but I lost interest quickly lol.

Well so does country music, but don't forget a lot of your Rap is nothing more than talking about drinking 40's, smoking weed shooting the police and drugs and hookers. I will give you that some of the newer Country artists do suck but they are mainly the women who think they need to be pop music too or the guys who think they are rock too. I disagree. Those songs are about the stereotypes of black people shooting cops and doing drugs, when they just wanted to make a good life for their families. Tell you what lets just agree to disagree lol

I sing. I play guitar but am quite dreadful at it. My fuck around duo "Obvious Side Project" with my friend Bertie has played a ton of Open Mic nights around Nottingham.
I refute strongly anyone who dismisses an entire genre of music. Most popular country music, most popular modern rap is awful. But then most popular music full stop is awful. If you think hip hop is all guns and drugs and gangsters, you're viewing it through a prism of what the media hated about it in the 90s. Seriously. You're working on an outdated stereotype. The stereotypical modern rap track is all about going to a club, getting drunk in a club and meeting women in a club, in a club. But there's still good stuff out there instead of that.
Same goes for country. There's a lot of good stuff out there. Especially if you stay well away from the whole chart Nashville scene. Autotuned Bro-country performed by half talented hacks, the kind of music that Bo Burnham TOTALLY skewered with "Pandering" (go watch it if you haven't) can go hang, but there's deeper stuff out there than the "Pretty girl, big truck, cold beer." buillshit that pollutes the charts. Female fronted pop country, well that's just pop with a slight southern twang.
You know what I hate? What I really really hate? Like foaming at the mouth death hate?
The amount of autotune in modern music. Because I can damn well hear it.

Oh and Country music fans? Hip hop fans? You want something you can all agree on? "Timber" by Pitbull and Ke$ha, effortlessly combines everything that's wrong with modern pop, modern rap and modern country into one nicely wrapped hateable package.

Honestly I was brought up on Meatloaf, Bon Jovi and Def Leppard...I was bred to be a rocker, but there's so much stuff out there I can get into. Hiphop, Pop, Rap, Country...I can always find something to listen to. We don't need to write off entire genres of music....that's ignorant and I'd hazard a guess that the discussion above had other agendas, rather than just the music too. We don't need that. I mean with hip hop, didn't Tupac...One of the greats of the genre write lyrics about respecting your mother and women?

When I said country sucked, I meant the modern shit i was raised on... i was raised on awful music, i had to go out and discover my own tastes. Country isn't THAT bad, I suppose... Also, " Country Panderin' " is the BEST song ever, don't you think of dissing Bo.
