🎵They say heavy is the head that wears the crown (wears the crown)
They say heavy is the head that wears the crown
Eehh (let's go)
They say heavy is the head that wears the crown (crown)
Always used to think that that was just some damn excuse
Something that the weak say 'cause they couldn't hold it down (down)
But now that I wear it I know that shit to be true...🎵
Jack Diamond: I truly thought that I was ready to be X*Crown champion when I took dozens of XHF talent to the limit during the Rumble. I thought I was ready to be the champion when I beat Rob Arnold for it at Blood Money... A match that, despite what people think, I believe in every ounce of my heart is what led to the great Rob Arnold retiring last night at AXW's show. That is yet another so called XHF legend that Jack Diamond has slayed... but, I don't think I need to tell you that.
Jack pauses and his silence is filled by the low whirring sound of a machine, a rhythmic beating, and the hiss of air moving in and out. On the screen we had only just seen Jack's face. The camera pans back and Jack is leaned back in a chair, wearing a tailored suit, the tie haphazardly thrown over his shoulder. He sits up and the camera pans around behind him, as he leans in to stare at Michael Storm's prone body. The sight is hard to witness as there are wires and tubes hooked all around him, keeping him alive... yet, here is Jack Diamond having a conversation with him like it's a normal chat amongst friends.
Jack stands from the chair and walks over to the window and stares out and down into the city below. In the distance he can see the XHF Arena. Nearby there is a billboard that Diamond sees himself staring back his direction. The ad is promoting Jack's grand opening of The Diamond Lounge... this Saturday! It's also the billboard the one of his opponents, The Anomoly, seen days prior.
Jack Diamond: Speaking of AXW, can you believe who they sent as their representatives for Night of Champions? I know! I bet that Anomoly prick about shit himself when he saw my face plastered all over town wondering what he's got himself into. And Steele...
Diamond turns back and shrugs at Storm, making a face as if he is waiting for an answer from his comatose compadre.
Jack Diamond: Right! Anyways, it doesn't matter. It could have been anyone. They could have sent Arnold but there is no way in hell he would want to face me again, so I get it... they were scraping the bottom of the barrel. Can you believe what Jackoff Steele said Mikey? He said none of us can hold a candle to him... first and foremost, the fact that he grouped me in with the rest of the scrubs in this match tells me all I need to know about the mental capacity he has. I mean, who does he think he is?
Diamond again stops so that Storm can answer him, but instead he receives nothing but a mechanical hum. Jack walks back over to the bedside and props his leg up on the chair, resting his elbow in his perched knee and leaning over the bed a bit.
Jack Diamond: Not very talkative tonight hun? No, I get it. It's all just crazy. How any of these people in this match think they can stand with me, a former X*Crown champion, when in reality they have no idea what it entails. What kind of pressure those belts bring.
Diamond stops as if he was interrupted and looks at Storm with confusion as he cups his hand around his ear to listen better. While we, of course, do not hear anything, Diamond nods in agreement.
Jack Diamond: Well, if you would give me a minute that's what I was getting to. What? Yes, I know I'm not the only former X*Crown champion in the match. I'm not the only ex crown, so to speak. Yeah, we have the legends and I use that term very loosely. Softcore Sally and Steve Awful may have been a part of the golden days of XHF but they will never measure up to the Diamond Days of this company. Besides, do you realize what has happened the last three times I've faced a "legend."
Diamond gets a little bit of an evil grin curled in the corner of his mouth. He looks down and almost in a whisper, he continues.
Jack Diamond: Of course you do. Arnold? Retired. Felix Ziko? That ogre is still hoping for a new lung after I blew him up. And what about you Mikey? How did you fare?
Diamond pats Storm on the chest before starting to pace up and down the bedside.
Jack Diamond: Not too good it appears. I thought going into our match at Clash of the Icons that I knew everything about the X*Crown... but when it was all said and done, you left with the belts. Well, you didn't leave with the belts, you left in an ambulance. What I mean is, I didn't leave with them. Where has that left me?
Diamond looks up at the small television screen hanging in the room. It's off but Jack just stares into the monitor where he can see his reflection.
Jack Diamond: I'm left once again chasing what is rightfully mine. Mikey, you know as well as I do that you didn't beat me. Your heavy carcass fell on me and the ref, for whatever reason, didn't see me get my shoulder up. You couldn't vouch for me though, what with your eyes rolled into the back of your head and all. Now what? I tell you what, all people can talk about is how I lost to a vegetable. They mock my title reign, with how brief it was.
The agitation shows all over Jack's face. As quick as the frown appears a smile comes back just as quick
Jack Diamond: I don't concern myself with what they say. The people who say these things, they can't walk a mile in my shoes. They'll never know what it's like to be Jack Diamond, to be the greatest wrestler, the greatest entertainer, the greatest businessman that has graced God's green earth. I now know what it takes to he X*Crown champion. And it's simple. It's knowing that the belts can never and will never make Jack Diamond. It means that with or without those pieces of metal, I am the manifestation of what holding them means.
Diamond is once again by Storm's side, looking down at him almost begging him to speak. When the word do not come, Jack fill the silent void.
Jack Diamond: I guess I have you to thank for that. Losing the titles to you has sparked a yearning to win them back that I never knew existed. I got so wrapped up in the chase, so enamoured by what just winning the belts meant that I forgot to fight to keep them. At Clash of The Icons, I got exactly what I deserved...
Jack leans in once again almost like he is going to tell Michael a secret. Jack takes a deep breath before quietly and matter of factly speaking...
Jack Diamond: And you got exactly what you deserved.
It was cold. It was callous, but you would never know that by the huge grin that was on Diamond's face as he stood back up and straightened his tie.
Jack Diamond: See, I won't make the same mistakes after Night of Champions as I did after Blood Money. Once I recapture my titles, once I climb back on my throne, once I have my crown once again... you can bet every last dollar you have that Jack Diamond will be the last X*Crown champion. So thank you Mikey. Thank you for reigniting the fire that was damn near gone. Thank you for opening my eyes to just what I have to do moving forward. And thank you for this chat, it was fun. I think it's time though for the legend killer to finish what he started.
Diamond walks over to a nearby couch inside the hospital room. At one end lies a pillow. Jack picks it up with both hands and stares down at it as his head slowly begins to nod.
Jack Diamond: It's the right thing to do, from one Ex Crown to another.
As Jack turns and begin to move back towards Storm there is a commotion in the hallway. Jack is almost a the beside when Storm's hospital door opens with a bang and in walks... no, walking is not the term. Strut? In struts none other than Randy Angel. Jack stands there with the pillow in hand, frozen. The sight of Angel is something truly special. From head to toe he sports exactly what you would envision someone trying to be "gangsta" when they are the furthest thing from it. He has on brown Lugz boots, oversized JNCO jeans sagging to where we can unfortunately see his red Tommy Hilfiger boxers, and a white "wife-beater" tank-top on and blue and white checkered button up shirt, but only the top button is buttoned. To top it all off, Randy has a black bandana tied around his head so that he knot sticks up in the front.
Randy Angel: Yo yo yo!
Diamond is speechless, and Randy hasn't even noticed him standing there. He holds his arm out to his side, in his right hand is a brown paper bag, a forty ounce glass bottle sticking out.
Randy Angel: Stormie! Ya know ya boy Randizzle had to come see ya. I been out on da streets homie, tryna find tha crew that did this to ya. Mo money, mo problems, bad boyz for life! This one's for you mayne!
With that Randy tips the bottle over and actually start pouring the forty out onto the hospital room's floor. As it splashes below, the rhythmic heartbeat on the monitor gets a little faster. An alarm starts ringing out on the machines, clearly Storm is having a reaction to just the very presence of Randy Angel. Randy looks up and finally sees Jack Diamond standing there with a pillow in his hand.
Randy Angel: What did you do?
Just then a nurse comes into the room to check the alarm. She is shocked as she sees a middle age man dressed in such a fashion as Angel. She looks down at the puddle of malt liquor in the floor, with disgust on her face. She then looks over to Jack, still dumbfounded and holding the pillow.
Nurse: What the hell are you two doing?
Jack looks down once more at the pillow, snapping out of it. What the hell IS he doing? He looks over at Randy who is eying him suspiciously, or like he is about to flip out a switchblade, Diamond isn't sure.
Jack Diamond: I, uh, was going to give him an extra pillow, he looked uncomfortable. Then this idiot came in with his Yo MTV raps and the bells just went crazy.
The nurse runs over to the monitor and starts checking them.
Nurse: This is amazing. He hasn't had any changes in vitals since coming in. Something has his heart rate and blood pressure going off the charts. You two need to leave now! I have to run some tests.
Jack tosses the pillow back over to the couch and steps over the puddle in the floor as he bumps shoulders with Randy Angel. Diamond heads for the door but not before Randy spins around.
Randy Angel: This ain't over fool! I'm gonna git you sucka! Word to your mother!
Diamond stop and turns around...
Jack Diamond: What the fuck are you even saying?
Nurse: Out! Both of you!
Diamond nods to the nurse to show he understands her command and heads out of the room. Randy puts his head down before heading out the door in the opposite direction than Diamond as te scene comes to an end.
