Quality Inn
95 Scott Rd, Waterbury, CT 06705
September 28, 2018
It's been a long drive from Jefferson City, Missouri to Waterbury, Connecticut for him as he drove straight through in his old beater. While he was back in Jefferson City visiting his friend Homie and doing a bit of running around for work, he went by his sisters and picked up his old car an 87 Chevy Caprice. Nothing spectacular but get's him back and forth to where he needs to go and since he will be back in the US for a few weeks he figured he could use it. He notices a Quality Inn about a couple hundred feet down the road so he decides to head on over there and get a room there for the duration of EOD event since they are a cheap motel and he really doesn't have much money.
He pulls into the parking lot to see a couple working girls over by the entrance to the back door trying to work one of the tourists in town probably here for the big End of Days event. He slowly gets out of his car grabbing his duffle bag as he heads in a homeless man stops him asking if he has any spare change. He looks at him for a moment then reaches in his pocket and hands him a five-dollar bill before heading in the motel. He walks directly up to the counter where the worker is sitting braiding another girls hair.
Eric Chronister
Hey, can I get a room?
Hotel Worker
Sure hun, one moment.
Eric Chronister
No biggie take your time ladies, so is there a good place to get a cheap burger or something around here?
The two women look over at him kinda looking him up and down as they check him out before replying to him.
Hotel Worker
There sure is hun just around the block a little joint called Mary's Diner. Best food around if you're wanting homecooked meals hun at a cheap price plus it's a hell of a lot better than fast food.
Eric Chronister
Great, sounds good I'm starving been on the road for the last day chips and drinks just don't cut it.
The woman finishes up her friend's hair and steps over to the counter to help him.
Hotel Worker
So what can I do for you hun?
Eric Chronister
I need a single room for a few days maybe longer not sure yet.
Hotel Worker
Would you like a full, queen or King size bed hun?
Eric Chronister
A queen is cool with me sweetie.
The other lady steps up beside him rubbing her hand down his back as she walks behind him, he looks at her as the Hotel worker continues to speak.
Hotel Worker
I got you, hun, it's $65 a night and all we need is a credit card to put on file or you can pay in cash up front, your choice.
He reaches in his pocket pulling out a small wad of cash.
Eric Chronister
I don't have any credit cards so it looks like cash it will be, give me seven nights for now.
Hotel Worker
Sure thing hun, you're in room 201 B if you need anything just call the front desk or come up here I'm here till six am hun.
Eric Chronister
Thanks, sweetie and I will.
He picks his bag up and heads down the hallway to his room as the two women stare at him as he walks away. He can hear the two women talking about wanting to hook up with him it makes him smile as he finds his room. He looks back down the hall and waves to the ladies who are still looking as opens up the door and heads into his room. The first thing he does is go straight over to the air conditioner and turn it on the room felt a bit warm for him he places his bag on the dresser and jumps into the shower.
He takes a long hot shower as the water felt good after sitting in a hot car for the last day or so, as he steps out of the shower to grab his towel he can hear his cell phone ringing. He continues to let it ring as he isn't in any hurry to answer it besides he has voicemail. He finishes drying off and begins to shave it doesn't take long to shave as he keeps his facial hair pretty well groomed anyways. He heads back into the room and gets a clean outfit from his duffle bag and gets dressed.
After he's done and ready to head out to the little diner that the woman at the front counter told him about he decides to check his voice mail. It was Horiko Goto one of the interviewers from SBW she wanted to meet with him for a short segment before EOD. He calls her back and lets her know to meet him at Mary's Diner within the hour as he's on his way there now if she's wanting an interview. She lets him know she's about ten minutes away from there and will meet him there asap.
As he walks through the door of Mary's Diner he sees the SBW interviewer Horiko Goto and heads over to the table she's sitting at and has a seat with her.
Horiko Goto
Thank you, Mr. Chronister, for agreeing to meet with me. Our boss Nausicaä Suzuki sent me here to do interviews of Suzuki Blitz Wrestling representatives for the End of Days tournament.
Eric Chronister
Not a problem, to be honest, this is my first one, I mean the first interview at least for wrestling.
Horiko Goto
Don't worry about it it's simple I will ask you a few questions and you just answer them. It won't be on camera so no need to worry about that it's for the SBW magazine and website.
Eric Chronister
okay, I can work with that.
An older lady comes over handing them a menu as they sit there she politely ask them if they would like a drink while they look at the menus. He lets her know he would like a coffee with cream and sugar. Horiko Goto lets her know she wants a Coke no ice and waves the lady on.
Horiko Goto
First, off Mr. Chronister allow me to say good luck and thank you on behalf of Suzuki Blitz Wrestling and Nausicaä Suzuki along with the rest of the board members.
Eric Chronister
Your welcome and I appreciate the work, I needed the job and the pay.
Horiko Goto
Let's begin, Mr. Chronister what makes you think that you belong here at the End of Days tournament along with all of these other talented wrestlers and competitors?
He looks over at the waitress as she hands them their drinks as he thinks about how to answer the question.
Eric Chronister
To be honest I probably don't I haven't even had a single wrestling match at least a professional one yet. Hell, I didn't even know who my first opponent for the tournament was or the company he wrestles for was until about three days ago. But I am a fighter have been for years and this is my job and it's what I do for a living and it's how I stay out of prison.
Horiko Goto
Brutally honest Mr. Chronister refreshing I like that, so Mr. Chronister that leads me to my next question what are your thoughts on your first opponent Maverick who is representing Ascension Wrestling Federation?
Eric Chronister
Like I said I didn't even know who the guy was until about three days ago or that company, so I really don't have any opinion of him. But by what I have been told I understand he's a former champion of some sorts but he is also a guy who has to have his boy's with him to win. So we will see what type of man he is when I face him in the first round of EOD, then come to ask me that question.
The waitress interrupts them again to see if they are ready to order, he quickly says yes as he orders a triple Bacon Cheeseburger with jalapenos and extra bacon and mayo with fries and Horiko Goto politely declines any food. The waitress apologizes for the interruption as she heads back to the kitchen to place their order.
Horiko Goto
Well said, Mr. Chronister, If you are to beat Maverick and advance into the second round of the End of Days tournament who would you rather face Icon member Bobby Barratt or Fukushima Zombie?
Eric Chronister
That's another question I really can't answer as I don't know who they are either like I said I just learned about Maverick and yeah I heard about this Bobby character too, but not enough to say I would rather face him over this other wrestler. As for this Zombie dude, It sound's interesting but to be blunt it really doesn't matter who I face. Either way, I'm going to go out there and do the same thing and that's fight like I'm fighting for my life because that's what I'm doing.
She looks at him with a bit of curiosity as that last statement has her wondering what he meant.
Horiko Goto
Mr. Chronister, could you explain that last statement a little more? What did you mean fighting for your life?
Eric Chronister
I see you haven't done your homework on me have you, let me break it down for you. I don't just tell anyone this okay I just got released from prison after being in there for over a decade. So in order for me to stay out of prison and keep my freedom, keep my life I have to work. I have to have a job and be a productive member of society and stay out of trouble. I am not trying to spend any more time behind the walls of a prison.
Eric Chronister
So every day I am out is a fight, a fight for my life, so when I step into that ring I'm fighting for my life because every time I win a match that means most likely I will have my job another day.
The waitress drops his food off in front of him and quietly walks away as not to disturb them. Horiko Goto holds her head down as if she is ashamed but after a few moments she looks back up and begins to speak again.
Horiko Goto
Mr. Chronister, I apologize I should have known that before our interview. I do have one last question for you and then I will excuse myself and let you enjoy your meal in peace.
Eric Chronister
Don't sweat it.
Horiko Goto
If you manage to shock the world and win this whole tournament what championship will you go for in SBW?
Eric Chronister
I haven't really thought about it, I guess I would want the one that would give me the most matches. That way I would make more money and have a longer career. But first I have to defeat this Maverick guy and then we will go from there. But thanks for talking with me so when will this be posted on the SBW site?
She stands up and shakes his hand as she gets ready to go.
Horiko Goto
Soon Mr. Chronister, soon good evening.
He nods at her as she walks away and he quickly reaches down grabbing his huge Triple Bacon Cheeseburger and takes a giant bite out of it like a man starving...
