He sits there reading a few articles from a couple websites, newspapers and magazines as he tries to get a feel for just what or who he's up against. The library is extremely quiet only about eight people in the whole place including the two librarians working. He has time to kill as his match isn't until Sunday afternoon with Bobby Barratt and after the last little message, he saw from him at the old abandoned prison he is even more confused on who Bobby is.
He continues to read everything he can on the man they call "The Prodigy" or "The Icon" but he has a feeling that not even Bobby Barratt knows who he is these days so how could he especially when he just heard of him less than a month ago. So as he sits there reading he realizes that if he goes back over everything that Bobby Barratt has posted on social media that would give him some idea of what he's in for at least a clue. He turns to the computer and types in "Icon member Bobby Barratt" into the search bar and it brings up hundreds of different articles on him along with a picture of the man himself.
He takes a deep breath and begins to read each article as if he was back in college, trying to cram for a midterm. He knows this is a long shot but something is off with Bobby Barratt and the way he presents himself just doesn't sit right with him. He knows better than to go getting into other peoples business and he won't interfere in anything but this is business and it may help him win his match and guarantee him another match which means another payday.
After a few hours of reading all about the man known to the world as one of the greatest in the business, he does understand a lot more about him now. He has read all about Bobby Barratt's feuds with the likes of Icon member's Jack Diamond, El Cazador, Chaos Kid and his feuds with the stars of Ascension Wrestling. He now understands why he keeps Maverick around to do his grunt work, pay for his meals but he knows snitches get stitches and end up in ditches so he will keep the reasons to himself.
There are so many articles it seems like they are multiplying the faster he reads them the more there are. He remembers as he's reading the articles a comment that his last opponent said to him.
Maverick
You're like a disease, or cancer even. You kill every little fucking thing you touch. I think I might wear a bloody hazmat suit when I wrestle you in case I get diseased by your manky hands. Yuck! Now that was the diseased part, now to the cancer part. You are the cancer of the XHF. You go around to each and every federation and you kill it off bit by bit. You chew away the fed until it dies. Cancer spreads around the body and affects everything it touches, which sounds just like you. You landed in a federation, it died. You jumped into another federation, it died. You jumped into another fed, and it won't be third time lucky, Chronic. No, sir.

As the words flow through his head he can't help but consider the facts of what he's reading in these articles. About Bobby Barratt and the Icons. They seem to be the cancer of the wrestling business, as they have been in several different companies, that closed down shortly after. They have caused companies to lose money, property, Hell even lives, yet he was told he is cancer on wrestling. He can't help to smile at the thought that he's still in the tournament while that guy's sitting at home.
He chuckles a bit, maybe a bit too loud as the librarian looks over at him giving him a smile but a look saying "BE QUIET PLEASE"! He smiles back and chuckles a bit quieter as he thinks about things and continues to the next article. With every word, with every sentence, and with every paragraph he learns something new about his opponent.
His eyes start to hurt as he's been reading so much he gets up and steps away for a minute to give his eyes and brain a break as he lets the new knowledge of Bobby Barratt sink in. He heads to the bathroom as he walks in he heads straight to the sink and splashes some cold water on his face. As he looks in the mirror he can see the man he has become and the man he used to be he can see the conflict in his eyes as he looks into his own eyes. Hw tears off a paper towel and dries his face as he walks out knowing what he needs to do.
He pulls his chair out and sits down and types in the website for the XHF Network into the search bar as the site pulls up, he logs into his account and heads over to post a live video.

Let's begin with this Bobby Barratt, you said that...
Bobby Barratt
You talk about how everyone else treats you as a reprobate, a criminal and a reject of society, yet any time we see you on TV, all you're doing is reliving that life. Analyzing every moment that you spent behind bars, isolated from the world. You constantly remind us that you are an ex-convict and you refuse to move on from that point in your life. You know what Eric? Nothing ever will change, if you don't move on. If all you want to do is talk about jail, then don't be surprised if that's what you're treated like! Not that it matters anyway. Come End of Days: Witching Hour, your road to redemption comes to an end. Your friend Homie couldn't school you under his wing about what happens when a man crushes your spirit in front of thousands of people both live and at home.

You see it as reliving it Bobby I simply see it as living in reality and the reality is that no matter if I ignore the fact's of my past, or if I talk about it I will always be treated the same until I prove to everyone otherwise. See Bobby Barratt some of us don't have the luxury to hide our secrets, to play pretend because there will always be that one person that one asshole that will dig into your past, into your closet and pull out your skeletons.
He takes a breath and continues...
Eric Chronister
So no I will not run or hide from my past, I will not deny the fact I was in prison and yes I may talk about it. That's been my life for the last decade plus. But that does not mean I will talk about every little thing, that I will tell every detail or private thought.
Eric Chronister
As for you crushing my spirit that will never happen, my friend, I am a free man and I will enjoy every second of freedom like it's my last and if it becomes my last then I will go out with high spirits.
Eric Chronister
Allow me to reply to one more thing even though it's none of your business but after seeing your videos and spending all day getting to know you I figure I can give you this much. You made the comment about me having a rough time getting here to Salem and not having a room. I had the money for a room but I didn't at the same time. See I may have the money to pay for it but I couldn't afford too I am not rich and right now I live pay check to pay check, I am helping out a friend sending him a few bucks here and there since he doesn't have anyone to help him.
He pauses for a moment as he looks around making sure he's not being too loud.
Eric Chronister
See Bobby Barratt not everyone has people who they can just have them pick up the tab when they don't have their wallet on them.
He winks into the camera.
Eric Chronister
Or when they just can't afford it. So before you judge people or try to play the bigshot get the story straight. I slept in my car for one night as I didn't want to pay for an overpriced room and this morning I went and got a room for half the price that I can afford. See when you sacrifice a little you get a little back.
Eric Chronister
Bobby this Sunday you said I would be set free as you end my time at the End of Days tournament that may be true. But the same may be said about you come this Sunday who's to say if you don't win that you won't be set free.
He gets a bit closer to the camera as he speaks a bit slower and calmer.
Eric Chronister
See Bobby Barratt you have been on a losing streak and your hanging with the Xcrown Champion and a young buck who's hungry. Who's to say if you don't win that they won't set you free like you did the other two Icons a while back? See I have been doing my homework, now Bobby I'm going to cut my feed see you Sunday night.
He shuts down the computer as he gets up pushing in his chair and heads over to the counter in front of the librarian and signs out right before he walks out the door.
