The Canteen
Hamilton House, 80 Stokes Croft, Bristol BS1 3QY, UK

He sits in a small local joint called "The Canteen" as he waits for the small waitress he met just a few days earlier, named Mia. With work going so well and his friend Homie out of his coma and stable, his mind is a little more at ease. So he realized if he was going to move forward with his life and prove he has changed he should start acting like it too. He knows this is going to be difficult first dates always are but he hasn't been on a date in over twelve years.
Mia walks up to the table smiling looking extremely good as she's wearing a simple pair of blue jeans and a rustic looking purple silk shirt with what appears to be a pair of Italian cowboy boots. He didn't take her for a country girl, he smiles back at her while thinking "God am I lucky". He quickly stands up and rushes around the table to pull out the chair for her as she sits down he scoots in her chair and sits back down in his chair.
As they sit there an overzealous hipster looking waiter walks up wanting to take their orders as the next local performer gets ready to step on the small stage in front of them. The waiter explains to them that the specials for the day are vegan and gluten-free meals and also tries to explain to them the ambiance of the place while they decide what they want. It doesn't take them long to decide what they want to eat as they both go with the special's for the day and a vegan style fruit smoothie to drink, the waiter casually walks away as the performer begins the reading of his poetry.
Mia
So now that we are here tell me about yourself.
Eric Chronister
Okay, what would you like to know? I'm from America originally, I moved here to Bristol about a month or so ago and I am working for Pro Alpha Wrestling, and I have an upcoming match against a guy also from America named Mr.America at our next event.
Mia
That's all nice but I already know that I want to know about you. Personally, what do you like to do besides work, where did you go to school, where did you grow up, have you ever been married you know stuff like that, are you a mass murderer lol just joking but really if you are, tell me.
She leans in smiling as she pats him on the hand. He gives her an awkward smile as he knows he has secrets that could make her not want to see him again but he's not a mass murderer.
Eric Chronister
No, no nothing like that I'm not a mass murderer. Well, I guess I'm a simple man I like the simple things in life, listening to good music, eating, hanging out in the wide open spaces just relaxing and enjoying the freedom of life.
Mia
That sound like someone I could see myself growing old with, sorry. I mean you sound perfect, I mean it sounds perfect.
Eric Chronister
No worries, besides I'm far from perfect and we are just getting to know each other and I am going to be here for a long time my career is just starting.
The hipster waiter brings over the meals and drinks placing them on the table in front of them as he begins to ask them if they would like to perform something today for the other customers as well. Both of them politely refuse, sending the waiter on his way they begin to chuckle amongst themselves as he walks away.
Mia
Could you imagine me up there what would I even do, show everyone how to wait on tables to funny.
Eric Chronister
I could watch you all day no matter what you were doing.
Mia
Yeah, you sure about that?
Eric Chronister
Oh yeah, I'm positive about that. Besides most of my time, each day is free unless I'm training or having my match I have nothing else to do each day.
Mia
Looks like we need to find something more productive for you to do then.
He smiles at her as he takes a drink of his fruit smoothie she grabs his hand holding it in hers. As the performer on stage ends his reading a local man now famous steps in front of everyone to sing a song he wrote and has personally written Aiden Martin begins singing "Punchline".
He stares at her as she watches the artist sing he is having an amazing time with her but he starts getting them doubts and worries about what happens when she finds out about his past. He shakes his head and continues to eat his meal as he listens to the guy sing. She looks back over to him and starts talking again.
Mia
So this guy's pretty good, I'm glad we came here today, I'm glad you called me I was starting to wonder if you would.
Eric Chronister
Me too, me too.
He smiles at her as she laughs.
Mia
So what would you like to do after we leave here, what's the plan?
Eric Chronister
I was thinking maybe Bristol Walk we could take a slow climb up Brandon Hill and enjoy the views from Cabot Tower into the evening and then maybe heads over to The Old Butcher’s for a bite to eat.
Mia
Boy oh boy, I must have underestimated you, you have the whole day planned and it sounds wonderful. Count me in.
Eric Chronister
I was hoping you would like it.
They sit there as Aiden Martin begins another song, she moves her seat closer to him as they finish up their meals.
