Destruction Wrestling
Concept:
It’s a fucking wrestling league, where big mean guys beat each other up and three or four of them win gold painted belts. Crazy, right?
Owner:
Jeff Mackie - Tech millionaire who is a lifelong wrestling fan. Involved in streaming services, so offers the show on MACKTube, his streaming network. Nerdy, sort of a hipster and doesn’t really identify with the guys, but loves the game.
Commentators:
Face/Play by Play: Larry “The Mallet” Morgan - ex wrestler who was a generic big guy who could never really get over when he wrestled, but got into commentary while nursing an injury and found his way.
Heel/Color: Phil Fartknocker - Ex punk musician who stumbled into wrestling business on
a variety entertainment tour akin to Warped. Crusty, oft drunk, lude and wild. Sort of a Johnny Rotten but American.
Referees:
Joey Dickson: He's going to be the primary ref for the first stretch. Briefly a military guy, former mma dude (so he can ref both types of matches), very serious when it comes to the ring and not afraid to break guys up. Sort of DW's Ed Hoculi. He's respected by the fans and talent alike. Pretty jacked too, being an ex marine and MMA guy. Has kind of a dopey high and tight haircut that people love regardless and occasionally fans wear wigs of it or have it on t-shirts.
Titles:
I’d like to eventually emphasize weight classes and promote that, but I understand most people like to have bruiser heavyweights with 89 superdeathmoves in ewrestling, so ultimately it won’t work. We’ll see how it goes. If I get a variety of sizes, I’m willing to adjust.
Destruction Title: This is the big one. The grandaddy, open to all weight classes. If the weight class works out, it will be Destruction Heavyweight, Superheavyweight, Cruiser, Middle, etc. If not, it's ok being like this.
The Layer of Waste Title: Hardcore. Duhh.
Pugilist Title: This’ll be more like an MMA/Fighting Title.
Explosion Title: Kind of the low level belt for the up and comers. It’ll be introduced later. There’ll be a tournament to crown the world title holder first.
Rules
Look, I'm not a huge rules guy. I like to let things go as they will. There will be a minimum roleplay or segment requirement. This fed is what we like to call hybrid. There will be some angle element, there will be some "his writing style/effort impresses me and thus I will put him over this guy" element. I'm going, currently, to be the only booker and it will be up to me. If you and another handler would like to run an angle and determine it's outcome and work the angle accordingly, let me know.
At the beginning, i will be the primary matchwriter. I will gladly accept volunteers to help write matches. However, I am going to stress realness, emotion and brutality in matches. I'm not looking for someone to put their or others' whole moveset of head drop/kick death moves into every match. This is not Dragon Gate, there's a reason Dragon Gate isn't really much of a thing anymore. If that's what you want, the door is there. Not a CM Punk fan. Get me?
Match rules will be standard. The Ring will be square.
Arena
The matches will be held in the Destruction Arena. It is located in Irving, TX, near Dallas. It is not a fancy place. It used to be a bingo hall that Mackie renovated nicely. It holds only a few hundred people. Mackie hopes to take the promotion on tours eventually, but at the moment, he is staying in this venue.
