TIMELINE
YEARLY AWARDS
Welcome everyone!
After putting many thought into it, I've decided to advance with a new project and share it with you guys. As most of you know, I love playing TEW, but recently just booking for ratings and world domination isn't funny enough, so I decided to put more thought and depth into my games like I used to do and share with other people some "booking" and present their results, characters, etc... The TEW 2016 game will only be an assistance to the booking itself.
The game will be set in the 1987 Real World Mod. And I won't be controlling any company. My plan is to assume control of the top 5 companies in the world in their respective "season finale" month and book their shows and "season finale" adjusting to whatever the AI decided to do during the entire year. For an example, in March 1988 I will assume control of WWF and book their build-up shows into Wrestlemania 4 and Wrestlemania 4 itself. Same with WCW in December's Starrcade, and so on... - If I follow the storylines that are currently active in the company is still to decide, might keep some, discard others, it absolutely depends on my creativity and what the game throws at me.
During the off-months, I won't merely be observing results... I can jump into a company and add a TV deal, hire some people, fire others. Everything that enters my mind. I will keep you updated on everything I do. I will also post monthly reviews about the top 5 companies and others of interest. This will be fairly short highlighting important news and events.
The universe is already set and Wrestlemania 3 just took place. I kept the real Wrestlemania 3 results.
IMPORTANT: I will start assuming control of the top 5 companies in 1988.
PS: Hope you guys enjoy this opening post. I was inspired by a diary I saw and pretty much followed his idea into my own extent. This is a long-term project as I will most likely stop posting in March for undetermined time. But since updates are fairly short and there's only 1-month's booking to do at each company, I might start with a fast-pace. Although it takes me long to book a proper Wrestlemania and I'm still uncertain if I won't be burnt out. Plus... If you guys have any ideas or want anything special, just say. Also, any comments on the booking itself will be highly appreciated, this won't be TEW-play-for-ratings-booking I will try my best to keep things realistic.

I've decided to do yearly recaps of a company when I assume their control for their season finale instead of filling the thread with the AI results. My plan is to review their current champions, roster, signing throughout the year and so on, giving the reader full detail of the company and workers. I might even ask for your cards and hold some sort of competition. For an example, I assume control of WWF in March and do a full-review of each single wrestler and titles and provide you all the information about the current state of the company and ultimately that is what you need to book a card at Wrestlemania with the available personnel. That's it for now. Opening Post {Spoiler}
One of the greatest marks of pro wrestling history and WWF/E history. I dare to say the best Wrestlemania ever. Wrestlemania 3 was perfectly built "booking wise" and WWF delivered the most massive event ever. Wrestling was at its prime, and it was The Golden Age of Wrestling.
tjrwrestling.net/tjr-retro-wwe-wrestlemania-3-review/
I will spare you the Wrestlemania 3 Review I had planned to write, every wrestling fan should watch this event at least once and feel it. The pressure on the greatest superstars of the wrestling world was on, and they didn't fail to deliver. I just feel the matches were too short, which was good in some of them.
But the most significant mark for me was Randy Savage vs. Ricky Steamboat they simply inspired an entire generation after their 5* match.
In my personal opinion, I think that it also changed a lot in the booking's perspective of the promoters, what could work in the live wrestling entertainment business and change came in the years that followed.

THE BEST OF 1987PWI Yearly Awards 1987
Welcome to the first edition of PWI awards. I will keep this one short since I haven't booked anything since the start and housekeeping was done in small companies.
Companies Awards Company of the Year: New Japan Pro Wrestling (#3 WR) They are japanese guys, Wrestling smarks like them and they hold a lot a of consistent shows... Go figure.
Card of the Year: WWF Saturday Night Main Event XI in Tri-State (rated 92) Right after WM3. The great Main-Event was Hulk Hogan defeating Harley Race to retain is WWF Title. The best challenger on Hogan's path in "real-life" 1987.
Most Improved Company of the Year: World Class Wrestling Association (#6 WR) The backstage area could get a license and become a pharmacy with the amount of drugs there, but heya, they've done well this year.
Match of the Year: Hulk Hogan def. Harley Race to retain the WWF World Heavyweight Championship at SNME XI (rated 99) Hogan was really at its prime right after beating Andre. It was a smart move to have Race facing him off. Wrestler Awards
Wrestler of the Year: Genichiro Tenryu (AJPW)
Team of the Year: Genichiro Tenryu & Jumbo Tsuruta (AJPW)
Young Wrestler of the Year: Toshiaki Kawada (AJPW)
Veteran Wrestler of the Year: Masa Saito (JCP)
Independent Wrestler of the Year: Buzz Sawyer (WCWA)
Female Wrestler of the Year: Devil Masami (now Unemployed worked for JWP & AJW)
Other Roles Awards
Manager of the Year: George Steele (WWF)
Announcer of the Year: Kiyoharu Ujiie (AJW)
Colour Commentator of the Year: Jesse Ventura (WWF)
Referee of the Year: Earl Hebner (JCP)
Well an high-preference towards Japanese wrestling this year, which can mark big things for the japanese market. I still prefer American Pro Wrestling.
Here I leave the calendar for the next year. Where the action really begins for Mr. Booker myself:
WWF Wrestlemania IV - March 1988 AJPW Champion Carnival - April 1988 AWA Superclash III - May 1988 NJPW International Wrestling Grand Prix - August 1988 JCP/WCW Starrcade '88 - December 1988
This calendar is more of a guideline as it is still subject to change as I might hop on other companies or companies may close, or I decide to run a diferent month. Japanese companies Season Finale don't co-relate with the timeline cause I decided to fantasize a bit. NJPW is not Super Sunday is Super Monday. And I decided to run this one cause it's right after International Wrestling Grand Prix or G1 Climax. I might book the Grand Prix and the subsquent event and end of tour in September. Or I might even decide to run Wrestle Kingdom since it is in January but yeah. I will try to adjust schedules of the big companies to emulate reality.
But some events like Wrestlemania and Starrcade I will definitely book and I can't wait.

WEEK 1, MARCH 1988: WWF ARRIVAL
We are in March 1988 and it's time to assume control of WWF. One year after Wrestlemania 3 took place landscape certainly has changed. I will try to organize everything in a simple fashion and I'm still uncertain if I will use past results that the AI has booked, in certain cases. After all this is a fantasy diary and I want to book the best possible card and realistic card to which some of the past results wouldn't make sense. Although wrestlers momentum is taken into account heavily when booking. This will be my first "real" post and expect a lot of personal opinions / feelings on the wrestlers, some of which you might disagree but let me know how do you feel about it. On another note, This post is only to present the current status of WWF (in-game, mostly). So I can set up a booking challenge to the members, in another thread. I will cover my proper storylines and background leading into Wrestlemania 3, in the next post.
WWF WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
"HULKAMANIA IS HERE!!"
Hulk Hogan is still the WWF Heavyweight Champion, which he deserves in my honest opinion. A lot of people in the IWC dislike Hogan and I never understood why. Hogan was the most requested celebrity of the 1980s in the business. When we talk about his celebrity status I think nobody can disagree when I say that Hogan was the most famous wrestler in the world. "But he got into celebrity status cause of his character, it would've been better if McMahon picked another man for that role". Nobody could do Hogan's gimmick, somebody else could have even been only a comedy act. This man, Hulk Hogan, was all about entertainment, he didn't murder the wrestling world, just watch a show of the 80s with Hogan as champion, we owe a lot to Hogan. He was a draw and people nowadays don't give him enough credit for that. Sure he had his personal demons but there aren't many wrestler you can name that were straight edge in the 80s/90s wrestling business. As a in-ring worker, he wasn't that all bad. He did a lot of mistakes in big moments, in the match I showed in the first post, his brain froze - literally, kids don't do steroids - and he goes for a Piledriver on the outside, of course that Andre the Giant reverted and showed how Hogan wasn't even prepared to take a bump. But as usual the announcing team does a great job shadowing this moments. I mean with nearly 100.000 people buzzing so loud lake they did with every punch you throw and all the lights on you, isn't easy, but that was his job, his go-to spot was a great idea by whoever had it. "Repetitive"... It is for many of us at home, but if you pay a ticket, you're watching it live and Hogan is in the card, surely you want to live and experience his final sequence. Like Stone Cold Stunner, Bret's Sharpshooter, etc.
Back to the game, Hogan has been the champion since January '84, which marks 4 years with the belt. I think his creative control has a big saying in that. He has been defending the title in the monthly Supercards. Only lost one match before Survivor Series and wasn't pinned, it was a tag team match alongside Junkyard Dog against Harley Race & Paul Orndorff.
WWF INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat
Steamboat has managed to defend the title he won at Wrestlemania 3 throughout the whole year. Many can say that his contenders up to date haven't been the most "suited" ones but that might change.
WWF WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
The Hart Foundation
Also retaining their belts throughout the whole year, The Hart Foundation has been a solid tag team in the WWF rings. The likes of Demolition, Wild Samoans & The Rougeau Brothers have been the regular contenders for the title. 11 defences, 1 year and 1 months champions. Bret Hart is currently injured.
WWF WOMENS CHAMPIONSHIP
Noriyo Tateno
After The Fabulous Moolah retirement and WWF Womens Championship vacancy a match was fought between Judy Martin and Debbie Combs which led to a double DQ draw so no champ was awarded. In September 87, Tateno defeated Toni Rose in a upset victory to win the title, Tateno has managed 4 title defences until date. Yes you read that right, Toni Rose signed with WWF in July 1987 leaving JCP.
Tateno & Itsuki Yamazaki have a team of their own called Jumping Bomb Angels, in the real life they were WWF Womens Tag Team Champions, which belt I might introduce in this Wrestlemania since it isn't currently in-game.

WWF 1988: The Road to Wrestlemania IV;MONDAY, WEEK 1, MARCH 1988WWF has been living a decent year after Wrestlemania 3 sucess, but a whole new level is required by McMahon's and his employees creativity since WWF set the standard up so high, even for themselves, but there's a general feeling that things are going great for the company. We're knocking at Trump Plaza's door and Wrestlemania IV will become a reality. Here is a list of the events I will book.
- WWF Superstars #77 - WWF Wrestling Challenge #79 - WWF Saturday Night Main-Event XV - WWF Superstars #78 - WWF Wrestling Challenge #80 - WWF Superstars #79 - WWF Wrestling Challenge #81 - WWF Superstars #80 - WWF Wrestling Challenge #82 - WWF Wrestlemania IV
Like I already said, If I will post any of this shows is yet to be seen but If I do post it will be in a simplistic manner, since the main focus is the Wrestlemania itself. @ Trump Plaza Convention Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA Some may call it the Clash of Dollars and a real life war between the "top american guy" Hulk Hogan and the "top japanese guy" Bruiser Brody. One thing is certain, this is considered a dream match even by internet smarks. Bruiser Brody joined WWF in November 1987 and did quite the impression dominating his matches with his savage and brutal wrestling style. He has such a fury, he's a pure Maniac. Bobby Heenan saw in Brody the realization of his dream, to become the greatest manager of all time so after some weeks of Bruiser Brody being within the WWF, Bobby Heenan became his manager, giving brains, promotion and even some calmness to Brody's madness. Bruiser Brody continued on his winning streak leading into the Survivor Series Match, where Brody would team with Harley Race, Honky Tonk Man & Andre The Giant to face on Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, Ricky Steamboat and Junkyard Dog. Bobby Heenan had it all planned out this was his chance. Hulk Hogan had a night to forget surely. In this match, Brody set Hogan as his target. When Hogan was in the ring, Brody would even blind tag to get into the ring. He got the upper-hand over Hulk Hogan and brutally punished the champion in the ring, Hogan eventually managed to "hot tag" with Junkyard Dog, who met Brody's Big Boot and a Brutal Vertical Suplex Powerslam. Brody started to rant - pretty much like Hogan's Power-UP but in a evil fashion - and lost control of himself. He went after Hogan who wasn't in the match and continued to attack him on the outside. A big brawl started between the two teams. And the match ended in a victory for Hogan's team due to count-out.Heenan took this events as leverage for Bruiser Brody and start to sell that Hogan was no match for his client and it's only a matter of time to see Brody as WWF World Champion and himself as the best manager in the world. The match was set for WWF Royal Rumble 1988. Of course we had some great promos from Hogan leading into this. In this match, Hogan managed to retain his title by DQ. Bruiser Brody lost control of himself and refused to break a foot choke on Hogan, the referee called the bell, but the action wasn't over... Hulk Hogan was almost purple without air when hr started to feel the Hulkamaniacs power and broke loose of Brody's choke, he started to attack Brody. Moments after he connects his Bodyslam! WE ALL KNOW WHAT IS ABOUT TO COME, but as Hogan is going to the ropes for his leg drop, Heenan catches his leg. Hogan pointed at Heenan "YOU" and goes after him who almost shits his pants, Jesse Ventura as per usual in the commentary says that Hogan is a maniac just like Brody and criticizes all the champ attitudes. Hogan is running after Bobby Heenan, when he meets a 2X4 club! Jim Duggan was hiding behind the steel steps. Jim Duggan attacks Hogan on the outside as Billy Jack Haynes out of the public comes to assist him. They bring Hogan back into the ring and Brody goes into the top rope for his Jumping Knee Drop. The arena is quiet when, Randy Savage storms into the ring with the company of Superstar Billy Graham and Junkyard Dog who push away the attackers. Savage saves the now bloody Hogan and holds his hand and title up-high.The feud continued to develop - more on that on the next match preview - as another challenge for the title was issued in a no-disqualification match. Which Hogan refused since the WWF World Title is a singles title and he's not going to defend against a maniac like Bruiser Brody and his maniac lackeys, Jim Duggan & Billy Jack Haynes. That if this match would take place, that he would only defend it inside a steel cage where nobody can interfere. The conditions were accepted which led into the contract signing. At the contract signing, Hogan brought Billy Graham and Junkyard Dog with him to prevent himself being attacked by the madmens group, which of course happened with a big brawl between the two until the security swarm the ring and set the man apart from each other.A 4vs4 tag team match was also held at SNME XV, between the Mega Powers, Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage against Andre The Giant & Bruiser Brody. Bobby Heenan's army vs. Hulk Hogan's army if you want to name it properly. The mega powers had the assistance of JYD & Billy Graham while Heenan, Billy Jack Haynes & Jim Duggan assisted Andre & Brody. The match ended in a chaotic fashion with everyone fighting in the middle of the ring, Bruiser Brody eventually connected his Jumping Knee Drop on JYD as he jumped from the ringside into the fallen JYD on the outside... Brutal Action leading into Wrestlemania as once again McMahon is forced to send almost his full roster to put end to this.SINGLES MATCHAndre The Giant vs. Randy SavageRandy Savage started a friendship with Hogan due to Miss Elizabeth's persuasion but as everyone knows in the wrestling bussiness, new friends means new enemies. Randy Savage has been assisting Hulk Hogan for quite some time on Hogan's feud with Bruiser Brody and Bobby Heenan which of course wasn't accepted by Heenan's crew. There is a certain possibility that Heenan set Andre the Giant on Savage's path so that Savage is busy for the night.Soon after Savage joined mega forces with Hogan he admitted that he is a Hulkamaniac like Hogan and showed admiration for the People's Champ. After Hogan was attacked at Royal Rumble in which the macho man saved Hogan. In the week that followed, in a segment on Hogan's backstage, Savage was really mad about what they did to the champ and despite Miss Elizabeth and Hulk Hogan's attempts to calm down Randy Savage he left the room. "If you want things done, you have to do it by yourself. THE MACHO MAN WAY!" said Savage before leaving. Later in the night, a bloodied Savage was on the floor backstage and nobody knows what happened. Hogan runs to aid his friend and Miss Elizabeth showed her non-existent acting skills by crying. Savage doesn't recover his senses and left in a ambulance. There are several segments of Hogan at Savage's hospital room. Who doesn't remember what happenend, that he left to confront Heenan but then he doesn't remember anything else. In these segments we see Hogan giving Savage an Hulkamaniac Randy Savage action figure, talking about the Hulkamaniacs power, that an Hulkamaniac never gives up, etc, etc. Hogan accused Heenan and Bruiser Brody of attacking Savage. In a Superstars episode before Saturday Night Main-Event, Savage stormed into the building for the fans delight and attacked Heenan at the commentators table. He revealed that Andre The Giant attacked him from behind with a chair as he was confronting Heenan's antics.
The full footage appeared on-screen at a WWF Superstars where Savage was viciously attacked by Andre The Giant with a chair and Heenan's assistance. A match between the two was scheduled to take place at Wrestlemania IV. Leading to the match we see Savage watching Hogan vs. Andre, Hogan motivating him, Savage asking for the Hulkamaniacs power to Body Slam The Giant just like Hogan did, etc, etc.
This match feud is heavy related to the main-event feud.
WWF INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH; SINGLES;
Ricky Steamboat (c) vs. Honky Tonk Man
"The Dragon" vs. "The King of Rock'n'Roll Wrestling". Honky Tonk Man was riding a big wave of momentum having won the WWF King of the Ring in 1987. He started to call himself the King of Rock'n'Roll Wrestling, but he got rocked by Hulk Hogan who defended his title. In January 1988, Honky Tonk Man won the Royal Rumble and didn't fall to the same mistake and set a "lower target" - as he mentioned to "Mean Gene" - to take. He challenged "The Dragon" for a match at Wrestlemania. Promos from both sides were held hyping the match, jesus, I still laugh at Ricky Steamboat's promos, but hey... in-ring he was great. We saw Honky Tonk having karate classes, singing a song called "The Dragon falls"... And in general the match is quite hyped. Although I have my doubts about it.
SINGLES MATCH - ROBERTS SNAKE VS. RACE'S CROWN
Jake "The Snake" Roberts vs. "The King of Wrestling" Harley Race That's right folks. My original idea was to have a rematch between Jake Roberts and Honky Tonk as I disliked that match ending at Wrestlemania 3, but since Honky Tonk was the Royal Rumble winner - booked by the AI - it wouldn't make that much sense although I could tell it story-wise but let's save that for future Wrestlemania's.This feud started at the Snake's Pit as Harley Race was cutting a promo where he drops Heenan as his manager saying that a wrestler of his "royalty" shouldn't align with a madmen crew, to which Jake Roberts laughed out loud not letting Harley Race continue. Harley Race got furious and asked Jake "why in the hell are you laughing?". Jake composed himself and said that "Race it's so funny when you calls Heenan's Crew a Madmen Crew and that's why you left... You are a madmen yourself *laughs*. You're running around with a crown, calling yourself King... When you lost to ME! at King of The Ring, it looks like he fits perfectly in a madmen's crew". Both man continued arguing in the Snake's Pit as Roberts kept on asking what the crown means, is he Bananas country king? It quickly escalated into a Brawl at the Snake's Pit with Harley Race using a knucklehead to put Jake Roberts out, he was about to keep on his vicious attack, but the Jake's Snake was way too close too Harley Race staring at him, which cause Race to run away, totally scared. After this attack, Jake Roberts was really furious and challenged Harley Race into a match at Wrestlemania. Race refused to wrestle Jake Roberts if he has the Snake on his ringside. The match was later agreed to happen but with a stipulation. If Jake Roberts wins, Harley Race drops his crown. If Harley Race wins, Jake Roberts Snake will never come back to WWF. The hype is real!WWF WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH; TAG TEAM;The Hart Foundation (c) vs. Demolition(Bret Hart & Jim Neidhart vs. Demolition Ax & Demolition Smash)Demolition is a tag team on the rise within WWF and they've proven to be quite the force dominating the entire tag team division. But the Hart Foundation has held the titles for over a year. A match between the two team was scheduled to take place at Royal Rumble but at Royal Rumble, Bret Hart was alone backstage when he got attacked by the Demolition in an attempt to put Bret Hart out of the match and consequently winning the titles. They injured Bret Hart's knee pretty badly. But that wasn't enough. A limping Bret Hart came into the ring alongisde Jim Neidhart, the match was 3 minutes in when the referee stopped the match due to Bret Hart's conditioning. The match ended with a Demolition win although the title didn't changed hands, as Vince called it the same as DQ - everyone saw what the Demolition have done and that's not how you win titles in WWF.Despite the owner's support, Demolition have been stalking Jim Neidhart who has even defended the tag team titles against some local talents in a Handicap Match. Despite of Neidhart's attempts to maintain the titles during Bret Hart injury, after several taunts from Demolition Vince was force to book a tag team match at Saturday Night Main-Event XV between Demolition and The Killer Bees. If Bret Hart didn't recover in time the winner of this match would be awarded the WWF World Tag Team Titles. Demolition decimated The Killer Bees... As they were beginning to celebrate Bret Hart theme hits the speakers for a big pop in the crowd he comes down the ramp, "looks like an Hitman!" - exclamated Vince. He attacked Demolition forcing them to leave. Bret got a mic "IF YOU WANT THIS TITLES, YOU WILL NEED TO BEAT ME!".SINGLES MATCH WITH SPECIAL REFEREE; HAIR VS. HAIR;British Bulldog vs. Greg Valentine (Brutus Beefcake as Special Referee)The Barber Brutus Beefcake engaged on a feud with Greg Valentine who was showing a lot of care with his hair. In a segment with Greg Valentine hyping his upcoming match, Brutus Beefcake approached Valentine's back with a scissors and a psychotic look, staring at his long blonde hair. Brutus "That's a nice hair you have there, I can give more style to it! AH!" Scaring Greg Valentine who attacked Brutus and left calling him a psycho. The weeks that followed Brutus Beefcake stalked Greg Valentine's hair. Until Greg Valentine lost it and attacked Brutus Beefcake viciously in the Snake Pit. A match was set between the two at Royal Rumble. Greg Valentine not only won the bout, he destroyed Brutus Beefcake and got a hand full of Brutus hair in the end. But things didn't end here. Brutus Beefcake obsession with Greg Valentine's hair continued to the fans delight. Brutus Beefcake still wanted to "give a new look" to Greg Valentine and invited Davey Boy Smith to his Barber Shop in order to proof to Greg what he could do with his barber hands. In a nice segment at the Barber Shop, Davey Boy Smith transformed into the British Bulldog character! With his cornrows done by Brutus Beefcake. It didn't took long for Brutus Beefcake promote the new Davey Boy Smith character and his great hair done by himself the barber! He then directed his speech to Greg Valentine saying he is the next in line. His hair would be the perfect subject to promote his newly opened Barber Shop. Not only it will give a new look to Greg, it will give a new attitude as well. Greg Valentine came out to end all this silliness because he has no time for games. Greg Valentine challenged British Bulldog into a Hair vs. Hair match, not only he will beat Brutus protegee he will destroy Brutus Beefcake's work. There was a lot of segments and hype into this and Brutus and British Bulldog was doing sort of a comedy pairing against the though-as-nails Greg Valentine. I think this could really work in real life.TAG TEAM MATCHStrike Force vs. Foreign LegionThis match isn't really in the card - if there was a real one - and doesn't have any story leading into it but I will spoil you a bit. The idea is having the Foreign Legion doing their foreigners act... As soon as they have all the heat... Rick Martel & Tito Santana come into the ring as Strike Force doing their tag team debut. And there we go. We have a cheering crowd and a match going. It really was that easy for Vince with certain talent.SINGLE TEXAS DEATHMATCH; WWF CAREER ON THE LINEBob Orton Jr. vs. Dick MurdochThere is time for a wild brawl between texans, surely. Since Dick Murdoch got in the WWF in November 87 that he has targeted Koko B. Ware. Which, by the way, he absolutely destroyed. Dick Murdoch was quite a controversial character and somewhat racist character. Bob Orton Jr. came into the context saving Koko B. Ware from a beatdown after-match by the repugnant Dick Murdoch. Bob Orton criticized Murdoch's attitude, saying that he his a shame to the great State of Texas that he is making a bad figure of what a really Texan is. The feud escalated quickly at the Snake's Pit as the two were invited an argument between the two with both defending their statesmanship and attacking each other figure lead into a massive brawl. In a battle pretty much similar to "my ding-dong is bigger then your ding-dong" lead both man to issue a series of challenges into each other. Dick Murdoch challenged Bob Orton Jr. into a Texas Deathmatch. Bob Orton Jr. replied with another challenge, Texas Deathmatch with loser leaving Town... in this case, WWF. At the end the man who says I quit, not only loses the match, he loses his WWF contract. Dick Murdoch didn't backed out from this challenge despite of his contract length being way longer than Bob's. A graphic was shown in a Wrestlemania Report... Whoever loses the match not only leaves WWF, the loser is obliged to pay a indemnity to the company in order to leave according to their contract length resulting in a big financial loss for Dick Murdoch who still has 3 years left of contract. TAG TEAM MATCH Billy Jack Haynes & Jim Duggan vs. Billy Graham & Junkyard DogIn one side Bruiser Brody's lumberjacks, on the other Hulk Hogan's lumberjacks. Billy Jack Haynes & Jim Duggan really lost their marbles and joined forces with the aniac Bruiser Brody, some say they've lost their souls as they aligned with Brody. But they look a lot more menacing since then. There's no stoppage to this guys rage and anger. The veterans Billy Graham and Junkyard Dog aligned with Hulk Hogan as veterans in the business who think Heenan's crew are going to destroy the business that they've worked so hard for. This feud is heavy related to the main-event feud.20-MAN BATTLE ROYALE 20 guys in the ring fighting each other! GREAT! Participants are not announced and there are rumors of a debut.WWF WOMENS TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP; TAG MATCH;Jumping Bomb Angels vs. The Glamour Girls(Noriyo Tateno & Itsuki Yamazaki vs. Leilani Kai & Judy Martin)Since the japanese flyers came to WWF that they've been a big feature of the womens division. Noriya Tateno is the current WWF womens champion which caused the jealousy of other WWF women performers. Despite several attempts Noriya Tateno's resilience always prevails in the end. The assistance of her partner, Itsuki Yamazaki, has been a big part of her run as champion since she always protects Tateno's matches at the ringside not letting anyone interfere. In a post-match interview after Tateno defeated Toni Rose, The Glamour Girls blatantly attacked the Jumping Bomb Angels targeting Tateno's down which led to a match between Noriyo Tateno and Leilani Kai at Saturday Night Main-Event for the WWF Womens Championship. The match ended with a draw following a double desqualification. As it developed into a huge brawl between the two teams.
The Womens Tag Team title was inactive for quite some time and the last holders were The Glamour Girls, so the match was booked for the vacant title, title that The Glamour Girls never lost.
Well here it is... Wrestlemania 4 card. It took a lot of effort and thought it isn't so easy as it seems to book such a big show as Wrestlemania. I would really appreciate your thoughts on it and discuss it a bit.

MARCH 1988 WORLD NEWSI've decided I will stop doing the housekeeping posts except on certain cases. I might extend the thread to not only booking the top 5 companies season finale or big events but also some companies that I'm really fond of, specially some that will open in the future. I will start doing monthly news recap on the biggest happenings in the industry.
COMPANY NEWS WWF bought and disbanded Pacific Northwest Wrestling;
GLOW closed doors due to financial problems; Women Wrestling in USA will suffer.
CSW and CWA now have a working agreement; CSW and ASW are now hostile with each other; Bob Geigel in CSW is getting some work done.
CWA's owner and booker, Jerry Lawler, is no longer their figurehead;
WCWA's World Class Championship Wrestling has gone off air.
WORKER SIGNINGS King Kong Bundy and Ric Flair have both written deals with JCP. WORKER LEAVINGS

WEEK 1, APRIL 1988: ALL JAPAN PRO WRESTLING
I didn't have to wait after booking Wrestlemania 4 to get into my next booking challenge. It's April 1988 and I will book a fantasized Champion Carnival. Giant Baba is currently the booker of the company owned by Motoko Baba. Riki Chosu is currently being treated as their figurehead. Why do I say fantasized? I will book Champion Carnival in a different manner from reality mostly because of my limited knowledge of the japanese companies. I know their wrestlers, seen dozens of matches but never really followed their shows / events. AJPW Champion Carnival will be a round-robin tournament consisting of 20 wrestlers. 10 wrestlers per block. I will also book their under card. Don't expect too much detail into it. I will present their tour events results in a short manner and in the monthly big show I will book a "dream card" with their champion facing the Champion Carnival winner or presenting the Champion Carnival final, I'm still uncertain about how I will do it as I will figure it out as I go. In other note, AJPW is part of NWA alliance and I might use that to add a wrestler to this tour since NWA titles are part of AJPW and JCP roster has some wrestlers I can borrow which is nice. COMPANY GENERAL INFOAJPW has been losing money every month. They are currently #5 in World Company Rankings but if they keep on losing money the company is in serious trouble. Let's hope they can fix it. SCHEDULE
- AJPW Champion Carnival Tour - Weekly every Wednesday & Thursday - AJPW Puroresu Chukei - Weekly TV-Show every Saturday - AJPW Champion Carnival 1988 - Sunday, Week 4, April The schedule is quite overloading for the company financially speaking but I'll play along.COMPANY IMPORTANCEAJPW's popularity has grown since the game start. If AJPW manages to get to 65 importance in 6 Japanese regions they grow to National size. But they're losing the race to National against NJPW. On a side note, Importance isn't the same as popularity in TEW. A company can have popularity in a region but if a competitor pulls off better shows consistently importance of the company will drop. This also depends on a company star power and draw. BROADCASTING DEALS
AJPW only has 1 broadcasting deal with Nippon TV for Puroresu Chukei. This might present a problem for big events that aren't being broadcast anywhere. I have to solve this. NWA International HeavyweightJumbo Tsuruta is the holder of NWA International Heavyweight Title since game start. Title defenses are as it follows: PWF World HeavyweightGiant Baba defeated Riki Chosu in March 1987 and has defended the title ever since. NWA International Tag TeamKakuryu are the holders since the game start and have defended the title 14 times already. NWA United NationalGenichiro Tenryu has held the title since the game start and has defended it 11 times. PWF World Tag TeamChoshu & Yatsu defeated Ted Dibiase & Stan Hansen at Summer Action Series in June 1987 to become champions. They've managed 11 defences ever since. AJPW World's Strongest Tag TeamThis is the World's Strongest Tag League tournament usually held in December. 1987 winners were Chosu & Yatsu. AJPW Junior HeavyweightMasanobu Fuchi is the holder of the Junior Heavyweight Title since the game start. He has managed 23 defences ever since. AJPW All-Asia Tag Team
Your New Heroes (Hara & Super Strong Machine) are the holders of the title since the game started as they won the title in October 1986. This title is a lower tier of tag team titles. They have made 11 defences ever since. AJPW CURRENT ROSTERMAIN-EVENTUP-CARDMIDCARDLOWCARDOCCASIONALOUT OF ACTIONHiroshi Wajima is out of action for 2 months, 1 week with a Semi-Severed Spinal Column. Killer Khan is out of action for 8 months, 1 week with a Torn Meniscus. Toshiaki Kawada is touring with his band. He will be back in 8 days. (ah! you want to be a musician. No champion carnival for you cause Giant Baba said so!)
Next post I will start the booking itself. If someone has any ideas feel free to hit me up as I might need them to book AJPW, what a challenge for myself. Time to roll up my sleeves.

Wow, the American scene is in shambles. This is too much like what actually happened when Vince ate up the indies But I’m giggling that young Jerry Lynn looks like now Kenny Omega Hopefully new companies will open up soon... Currently there are only 23 companies in the world. 8 in the USA. The game doesn't cover all those tiny companies that were running at the time but there are several Indy shows in all regions where unemployed wrestlers work. Good observation with Jerry "OMEGA" Lynn, ahah. Let's see if JCP or AWA picks him up.

AJPW CHAMPION CARNIVAL 1988 Tournament Tour scheduled;
Finally, I have managed to set up the schedule for the Champion Carnival 1988 Tour. I ran into a bottleneck with it but with Kira Izumi's help, I've managed to decide on how I was going to run it. Let's take a look at the scheduled events, before talking about the tournament itself.
A total of 13 events are going to be held leading to this year Champion Carnival final and big card. All of the tour events will feature the round robin tournament with some of the biggest matches being held at Puroresu Chukei since they are the only events that are covered by a broadcaster andwill give exposure building up the big event that Champion Carnival is going to be.CHAMPION CARNIVAL TOURNAMENT
Champion Carnival will be a round robin tournament consisting of 20 wrestlers! Wrestlers will be divided into two blocks. 10 wrestlers per block. (math expert here, or not.) BLOCK A
Akira Maeda, Jumbo Tsuruta, Kensuke Sasaki, Kuniaki Kobayashi, Masanobu Fuchi Road Warrior Hawk, Satoru Sayama (as Tiger Mask), Super Strong Machine, Ted DiBiase, Yoshinari Ogawa
Akira Maeda (#3 in PWI's Power 500 in '87) is a great worker and he is to some extent the definition of puroresu with his shooting abilities. He was one of the biggest news of 1987 as he signed with AJPW in November 1987 leaving NJPW - AJPW's rivals - in the process. Since he arrived at AJPW that he is has been very consistent, he reached the finals of AJPW World's Strongest Tag Team League alongside Jumbo Tsuruta but both were defeated by Yatsu & Chosu. He is one of the favourites to win this block and this tournament.
Jumbo Tsuruta (#4 in PWI's Power 500 in '87) is a legend of the sport. Currently the NWA International Heavyweight and NWA International Tag Team champion alongside Yatsu. He has been headlining most of AJPW's events and he is one of the favorites to win this Champion Carnival as always.
Kensuke Sasaki (#76 in PWI's Power 500 in '87) is a tough and stiff brawler. It is his second year as a pro and he has been in AJPW ever since despite of being loyal to NJPW in the database. He comes into the tournament as a young lion and there isn't much hope for the young light heavyweight to win this tournament but he will get some exposure and develop his skills. He has been featuring the lower cards of the company and this is a great opportunity for him to impress the fans.
Kunyiaki Kobayashi (#32 in PWI's Power 500 in '87) is a great technical wrestler and one to be feared during this tournament. He has been working with The Great Kabuki quite often in tag team wrestling. He had a couple of title shots since the game started but hasn't found much sucess. A solid upcard for the company could have his big leap at this year Champion Carnival.
Masanobu Fuchi (#38 in PWI's Power 500 in '87) is currently the AJPW Junior Heavyweight champion. He is an above average technical wrestler and has been leading the junior division since the game started and has an impressive record of 51 wins, 2 draws and only 6 losses since the game started. Certainly he is looking strong and can't be overlooked in this tournament as he is riding a big wave of momentum.
Road Warrior Hawk (#18 in PWI's Power 500 in '87) has ended his contract with JCP as he signed a written deal with AJPW but was loaned back to JCP for three months in order to finish his business there. He has been fighting both in tag team wrestling and as a singles wrestler in AJPW with great success. Despite Road Warriors failure in the World's Strongest Tag League - they were defeated in the first round by Jumbo Tsuruta & Akira Maeda, the eventual winners - they're a force to be reckon in Japan and at this year's Champion Carnival. He wants to face his best friend in this Champion Carnival final and proof to the world they're the best tag team ever.
Tiger Mask / Satoru Sayama (#51 in PWI's Power 500 in '87) is the original Tiger Mask. He is considered one of the most revolutionary wrestlers of the 80's thanks to his high-flying skills. A great wrestlerby all means can very well snatch a victory at this year Champion Carnival. He took a break from AJPW from November '87 until February '88 and since he came back that he is stronger than ever.
Super Strong Machine (#22 in PWI's Power 500 in '87) is the current AJPW All-Asia Tag Team champion. A regular fixture in the company's card since the game started has an opportunity to reach higher levels in AJPW in this tournament.
Ted DiBiase (#9 in PWI's Power 500 in '87) has been working in Japan's AJPW since the game started. He toured in Europe at CWA from September '87 until January '88 and worked for the american UWF federation. AJPW financial troubles are not a secret and the company couldn't renew Stan Hansen's contract, his tag team partner with who he held the PWF Tag Team Championship but due to Hansen's contract expiring they lost the titles to Choshu & Yatsu before Hansen leaving the company. Since his partner left that DiBiase has been competing as a singles wrestler more often and is quite sucessful within the company. A great wrestler and entertainer, Ted DiBiase is one of the "gaijin" featuring this tournament who is in the favourites list.
Yoshinari Ogawa (#60 in PWI's Power 500 in '87) is one of the best wrestlers in AJPW Junior Heavyweight Division. The 21 years old wrestler is on his second year as pro and fans look at him as a star in the making. The "Rat Boy" is often irritating in the ring but his tactics are very clever. Ogawa is one of the company young lions featuring this tournament and has an opportunity to make his name known in the middle of all AJPW's established wrestlers.
BLOCK BGenichiro Tenryu, Giant Baba, Isamu Teranishi, Riki Choshu, Road Warrior Animal Hiromichi Fuyuki (as Samson Fuyuki), Scott Hall, Tiger Mask II, Yoshiaki Fujiwara, Yoshiaki YatsuGenichiro Tenryu (#1 in PWI's Power 500 in '87) was considered the Wrestler of the Year in 1987 and it was well-deserved. The current holder and second time NWA United National & NWA International Tag Team champion is undoubtedly one of the favourites to win this tournament. A tough worker who never backs out from a fight can very well become part of the Hall of the Immortals. At the age of 38 he looks to add this Champions Carnival tournament to his title history. Despite some people saying that he's currently fatigued because of AJPW's hard schedule he definitely wants to compete and win, even if he has to wrestle his partner Jumbo Tsuruta in the final.
Giant Baba (#37 in PWI's Power 500 in '87) is the japanese Hulk Hogan, no doubt about that. He already has the legend status not only for his work as a wrestler but also for his work as AJPW booker. Some insiders say that he is passing the torch and his skills are declining since he is 50 years old already, but he is always one of the favourites to win. The 7-times Champion Carnival winner certainly knows what it's needed to win a tournament like this and looks forward to win it for the 8-time. Definitely a future Hall of the Immortals Inductee and another Champion Carnival win, can't hurt.
Isamu Teranishi (#44 in PWI's Power 500 in '87) is a 42 years old veteran who is best known for his technical mat wrestling abilities, which are great. A great asset to the company that hasn't won many titles during his career but wants to change that in this year tournament. As time passes his chances of winning it are becoming even more slime and he knows it. Will this be his year?
Riki Choshu (#2 in PWI's Power 500 in '87) doesn't need any presentations and there aren't enough words to describe his talent. He is currently appointed as the company figurehead and rightfully so, nobody can deny his skills. He won the AJPW World Strongest Tag Team tournament alongside Yoshiaki Yatsu in 1987 and despite being 36 years old he is already considered a future Hall of the Immortals Inductee already. This year he wants to be considered the best wrestler in the world and for that, he needs to win this years Champion Carnival.
Road Warrior Animal (#24 in PWI's Power 500 in '87) will also take part at this year tournament like his tag team partner. Some say that he is not as talented as Hawk and both had a match recently in which he lost but that can be his motivation to win this tournament. Like his partner he left the JCP in May '87 as he signed an written contract with AJPW, but wasn't loaned back to the company like his partner was. Will he proof the doubtful wrong and leave his mark as singles competitor, this is his chance.
Samson Fuyuki (#15 in PWI's Power 500 in '87) is a really good brawler who likes to take it into the Hardcore level. Currently 27 years old the 9 year pro has been developing a lot and at this year's tournament he has a shot to proof his talent and establish himself as one of the best within AJPW.
Scott Hall (#52 in PWI's Power 500 in '87) was part of Gagne's AWA where he found some success but his true success was in Japan. Hall started the game touring with NJPW but left at the tour ending in October '87. Then he had a 3-month run in the American company UWF. But a proposal was made by AJPW in February '88 and Hall returned to Japan. A powerful muscular heavyweight comes into this tournament as a "gaijin" and wants to make his name known in AJPW and consequently in Japan. (NO, this isn't Razor Ramon, lol.)
Tiger Mask II / Mitsuharu Misawa (#28 in PWI's Power 500 in '87) became the sucessor of Satoru Sayama as Tiger Mask as AJPW bought NJPW's gimmick rights. Misawa is currently 25 years old and has an background as amateur wrestler. The young wrestler is very flashy in the ring and a jack of all trades, he decided to compete as Junior Heavyweight Division once again and he comes into the tournament as a young lion who certainly wants to proof that he his better than is ancestor.
Yoshiaki Fujiwara (#33 in PWI's Power 500 in '87) left NJPW in August '87 and it was only a matter of days until AJPW signed him on a contract. He is currently the NWA Florida Heavyweight champion - one of the alliance shared titles. He has been defending this title in all the NWA's companies. He was one of the first Japanese wrestlers to use the shooting style that became so famous in the country. A veteran of the rings is someone who has the potential to become the tournament winner, after all we all know Fujiwara Armbar or at least the move.
Yoshiaki Yatsu (#5 in PWI's Power 500 in '87) is one of the greatest Japanese amateur wrestlers, he has competed in the olympics and has won a National Championship in 1986. Yatsu has found a lot of success recently, teaming up with Riki Choshu. Both man won the World's Strongest Tag Team championship and the match between both competitors in this year's tournament is highly awaited by the fans. A great technical wrestler, Yatsu, can very well become the Champion Carnival winner and proof that he is the better competitor of the partnership.
This is it for now. In the next post I will cover the all the company shows leading into the Champion Carnival Final and big card. Hope you guys enjoyed it.

Whoo, double Tiger Mask, Dibiase and Hall! It's a dream roster. All of the wrestlers present are great. And I still have Kenta Kobashi, Brian Pillman, Dr. Wagner Jr, Hiroshi Hase, Akira Taue, etc, etc.. who aren't that much of a draw just yet, Kenta Kobashi literally has 0 popularity as this is his debut year. Giant Baba is not bad at all.
