Anzac Cup 2020 : Show

[anthonycaffrey]

We see the X-Crown champ, wearing his facemask as he walks slowly through the back. He keeps his head held high and moves towards the curtains. He is wearing the X-Crown around his face and has a pair of earbuds in, blocking out the world around him. The fiercely passionate look in his eyes says it all: this is a man willing to do anything he can to keep his dreams alive tonight.

INTERVIEWER

Caffrey! Caffrey! Can we get some final words before your X-Crown defense tonight?

The champion keeps moving as the interviewer follows behind. He doesn’t even shake his head, choosing not to utter a word even as he makes a passing moment of eye contact. Caffrey continues forward, knowing that Blackstone, Tweedle Dum, Tweedle Dickhead, and a very dangerous Psychotic Goth all await him at the end of his first night of going through hell.

INTERVIEWER

Caffrey! Any words?

Caffrey has made it to the space behind the curtain. The interviewer continues to ramble at him while maintaining the six feet of social distance, but the usually incredibly talkative champion has nothing to say. He goes down to a knee and shoots up a quick prayer. The interviewer takes the cue and turns to leave, frustrated that he isn’t getting the scoop he’s after.

Caffrey raises his head as he rises back to his feet. He looks over and calls out to the interviewer. You can see a moment of broken focus as Caffrey’s put the match away for a few seconds to care about someone other than himself.

CAFFREY

Hey you! Yeah! You want words?

The interviewer’s tone immediately picks up as he does a 180 and starts working his way back. Caffrey puts his hands up to tell him to stay back, only giving him a few words.

CAFFREY

To be honest, I don’t think anyone wants to hear me talk five times in one night.

Caffrey winks, having a little bit of fun with the man. As the man goes to respond, Caffrey’s mood shifts back to the fiery intensity we saw earlier.

CAFFREY

Tell ‘em I’ve been walking through hell, but in just a few moments...

Caffrey takes a deep breath, looking down for a few moments. He nods to himself and then reaches up, knocking above the curtain for good luck.

CAFFREY

...I’m gonna give ‘em hell right back.

Caffrey pulls down his facemask to reveal his showman smile one last time before turning back to the curtain, ready to go fight -- not wrestle -- for everything he holds dear.

[Jonnie Valentine]

(Some saxophone music plays over the open of G'Day Melbourne, the third rated morning talk show in Melbourne for the ages 35-60 demographic. Don't even ask about it's household market share. Shudder. Lead Anchor Claire Humphries and weather forecaster Gene Thomas sit on stools next to two empty ones)


Claire: G'day Melbourne, and welcome back to our second hour. We've had alot of fun haven't we Gene?


Gene: We've had quite a time, Claire. This coffee is quite good isn't it? 


Claire: Oh yes. That's why I've had four cups. 


(They laugh, and laugh, and laugh)


Gene: (wipes a tear) Oi, I've forgot what we're laughin about? 


Claire: I can't remember, but I bet it was quite funny. Our next guest is a zoo keeper who's come to us all the way from America. He's going to show us some of the most exotic animals from that far away place, some that have never before been seen on Australian TV. 


Gene: I best keep me distance. You know how quick I get the willies. 


Claire: Oh please try and be strong, Gene. Please welcome, Jerry Downs! 


(The G'Day Melbourne saxophone music plays as Jerry and his helpers carry out several large cages. Jerry is dressed in old timey safari wear) 


Gene: Welcome Jerry. Does everyone dress like this in America?


Jerry: Um, no? Your producers dressed me like this. 


Gene: Ah, I see. Now let us see some of these bizarre and strange beasts you have in the States. (stops him) Now, I warn ya. I'm a bit jumpy. 


Jerry: Oh there's nothing to fear. This first one is called a pigeon. 


Gene: (jumps behind his chair) AHHH! He's monstrous! 


Claire: My word, what is that thing? 


Jerry: As I said this is a rock pigeon or just pigeon. They're fairly common in North America. They tend to thrive in urban areas but are just as happy living in the country. 


Claire: You've got those things, running around, bothering your wombats? 


Jerry: Actually, we don't have any wombats in North America. 


Gene: No wombats? What a ghastly thought. What else? 


Jerry: Ok, this is a North American ringtail raccoon...


Gene: (jumps into Claire's arms) AHHH!!! It's gonna bite me! Help me, Claire. Give it your arm to slow it down while I make a break for it. 


Claire: Really, Gene. Such a fuss over a deformed koala. 


Jerry: Oh no, this isn't a koala....


Claire: It clearly is. 


Jerry: Um ok but...


Claire: What's it eat?


Jerry: Typically garbage. Hot dogs it finds in trash cans. 


Claire: Sounds like me husband, eh, Gene? Our next guests are in the finals of the Anzac Cup and starring in the new Thundercats trilogy coming out this summer.  Please welcome, "Devilishly Handsome" Syberus and 110% Jonnie Valentine, The Stylistics! 


(The G'Day Melbourne saxophone music plays as Jonnie and Syberus walk out) 


Gene: Welcome fellas. 


"Devlishly Handsome" Jonnie Valentine: Thanks Gene, Syberus and I have heard we got to watch out with you. 


110% Syberus: Especially on the golf course. 


Gene: What's that about?


Claire: You cheat. 


Gene: I don't! Why I oughta...


Claire: Jonnie, Syberus...a multi-billion dollar movie franchise, being at the cusp of winning Australia's biggest tag team tournament, I have to ask you. Does that not look like a deformed koala to you? 


110% Syberus: I thought it was a obese fox. 


Gene: (jumps behind his chair) WHERE?? WHERE?? 


Jonnie Valentine: I just know I've been feeding it a meat pie and the Vegemite from the gift basket you guys gave us in the green room. 


Claire: Oi, you cheeky bugger, that was no gift basket. That was me lunch! 


Jonnie Valentine: Hey, the raccoon ate it not me. 


Jerry: I told you it was a raccoon. 


Claire: What does it mean to get all the way to the finals if you lose the last match?


Jonnie Valentine: Obviously it would be devastating. We've come so far and are so close to honoring the memory of all those that died in the French and Indian War. We can feel the spirits of those fallen men pushing us onward. It could be the only way they're allowed to leave this earthly plain. 


110% Syberus: One visits me every night, just cleaning his musket at the foot of my bed. I offer him tea or some biscuits, but he doesn't answer. Just silent. I wish I could make Radu Matei do the same thing. 


Gene: Clean a musket? 


110% Syberus: No, I wish he would shut the fuck up. He also appears to love the smell of his own farts. But that would just be a guess. 


Gene: I see. 


Claire: SWAT Classic has been through hell, defeating La Famiglia, Anthony Caffrey & Hayden Callahan, but what could be left of them after that semi-final match against Joanne Canelli & Frostbite? 


Jonnie Valentine: Hopefully not much. Syberus and I have had a much lighter time, especially the easy win we picked up over The Bros of Anarchy. That was almost like a day off, wasn't it? 


110% Syberus: I had completely forgot we wrestled them. 


Jonnie Valentine: I feel like we did though, right? 


110% Syberus: It certainly rings a bell. Are they vampires? 


Jonnie Valentine: Bikers. 


110% Syberus: I can never keep that straight. I ought to write it on my hand. 


Jonnie Valentine: At any rate, they are both extremely dangerous. Radu Matei is a former SWAT World Champion and XHF Champion. "Lucky" Linda La Fey is a former women's champion and attendee of the Jonnie Valentine Weekend Retreat. This could make her more dangerous than Radu or that squirrel on Gene's shoulder. 


Gene: Oh...my...god. WHAT IS THIS THING?? AHHHHH!!! 


(Gene screams and runs around the studio with a squirrel on his shoulder, pulling down the set screaming "GET IT OFF ME!! GET IT OFF ME!!" Jerry chases after him, trying to get the squirrel. The feed switches to an animated kangaroo kicking a camera man that says "We're Experiencing Technical Difficulties, Please Standby By" as the G'Day Melbourne saxophone music plays over it) 

[King Syberus]

[We fade into the Stylistics locker room. Geishas are applying a fresh coat of baby oil to Jonnie Valentine. Syberus stands up off the bench and arches his back wearily.]



110% Syberus: So, standing in the way of Syberus and Jonnie Valentine getting our hands on the Anzac Cup are Radu Matei, the self annointed saint of the company, and Lucky Linda, who's just kind of a nice lady.



The Stylistics are here to win the Anzac Cup. To showcase maximum sexiness across Tag Team wrestling's premier competition. *Jonnie flexes a bicep and looks proud of himself in the background* We're not here to get stopped in our tracks on the final stretch.



We've already done it in three rounds tonight. What's one more? 110% Syberus and Jonnie Valentine – you couldn't get two bigger names in the realms of professional wrestling. But it's probably fitting that the final obstacle is the biggest fucking ego that SWAT has managed to produce. The guy that thinks he made 110% Syberus's career. The guy that thinks he put SWAT on the map as if the Connection of Syberus and Adrian Tanner Jnr, and Stan “The Tank” Wilson's Heavyweight title reign never happened.



And some nice lady of course.



Radu Matei's swollen noggin knows no bounds. 'guy thinks he's the centre of the universe because he held the world title in a fed that cushioned him so delicately they could have mailed the summbitch to the centre of the Earth unscathed.



Radu's got a skewed vantage point of professional wrestling because he was allowed to light his own farts in front of the watching world week after week, show after show pretty much unshackled by management here in SWAT. I mean I get it from a business perspective. They needed a cash cow at the time because none of us were in the door yet. A guy to paint as the hero de jour. The only problem is when a couple of guys who are actually the levels his delusional mind thinks he scaled step onto the scene. Then we have a problem. Then the whole thing just looks silly.



[Syberus rotates his shoulders and shuffles the International title belt over his shoulder.]



110% Syberus: Radu can conduct his own circus and shout in his big words till the cows come home but the truth is he'll never amount to even what Anthony Caffery is doing right now- and I think Anthony Caffery is a piece of shit so that's saying something. At least that guy won a title that people were actually allowed to beat him for. Radu was consistently awarded the ultimate self indulgence and quite frankly, I'll happily raise my hand to be the guy to squash that pitiful era once and for all.



Here in the final of the Anzac Cup, I finally get to step in the ring with Radu Matei for the first time since the ill fated world heavyweight title debacle that launched an entire rebrand. And through the whole thing, the new catchphrases and the silly promos and the merch sales which are through the roof by the way, the important thing is that I accepted what the top brass here in SWAT had to say, I accepted that it was too early for the SWAT World Heavyweight Championship to make its' way around my waist, and since then I've gone through this roster like a man possessed. I liberated this International title and gave it meaning. I've defended it against all comers. And I've done it as a card carrying member of the Society of the New Breed. A stable of the most elite wrestlers you can find on this planet.



The hallmark of quality Radu Matei can only dream of being.



I get that it's not cool to care about beating people. And truth be told if I never score a pinfall over Radu Matei I'm sure I'll continue to sleep Ranier Wolfcastle style, ontop of a pile of money with many beautiful ladies. But nothing would please me more just to take that snot nosed amateur down a peg or two. Radu, this isn't your company any more pal. You don't have things all your own way any more. You aren't batting off the likes of Frostbite and Psychotic Goth every card these days. If you want to make it back to the top of SWAT, you're going to have to do it by beating the best. And I hate to break it to you but that's not actually as easy as you were made to believe when you were top dog.



That Anzac Cup? That's ours.



[Jonnie points at them both for emphasis.]



110% Syberus: You might dream of this being some kind of comeback. But the truth is going to be hard to swallow for you son. This isn't your comeback. This isn't your return to the top. You see you were never at the top. Your title run was the wrestling equivalent of the fake town scene in Blazin' Saddles. Cardboard cutouts are falling around you as you realise you're actually stood in the exact same spot I was all those months ago.



[Syberus grins.]



110% Syberus: YOU'RE now the guy that needs to put in the hard yards. YOU'RE now the guy that needs to understand you can't just walk back in and expect the red carpet treatment. And when the lights fade and the ref's hand falls for three, and the last thing you see before you slip into semi consciousness is the Stylistics holding that trophy aloft. Hopefully – and I do mean hopefully, it can be the first step on the long road to rehabilitation for you.



Linda? You're a nice lady, and I REALLY don't want to have to punch you right in the mouth.



But I will.



Because I like shiny things.



[Jonnie nods and pats him on the back.]

[SWAT Team]

Jeremy Tucker : Coming up next folks, we have an impromptu Title match for the X Crown. Anthony Caffrey captured the title at the Royal Rumble and XHF rules state that the championship must be defended every thirty days or forfeited. We here at SWAT support our workers and we won’t let that happen on our watch, so, here we are with it being defended against not one but FOUR SWAT Superstars.

Evil green mist bellows out of the ring entrance as a woman screams and Psychotic Goth laughing maniacally as "Welcome To Your Death" by Annihilator plays and Vampira leads Psychotic Goth to ringside in chains while holding Psychotic Goth's homemade weapon. He ignores the ringsiders and stops at the ring for Vampira to unlock the chains and Psychotic Goth rubs his wrists hard as he climbs the ringsteps and enters the ring and stands in his corner. He slowly takes off his trenchcoat and jewelry before he lowers his head and raises his arms before throwing his head back revealing his pale handsome gothlike looks looking and snarling like a demonic maniac crazed and intimidating as he is given his homemade weapon and he caresses it before placing it in his corner for Vampira to hold until it's time for Psychotic Goth to use it.

Frank Salazar : The following contest is scheduled as FALLS COUNT ANYWHERE and is for the XHF X-CROWN CHAMPIONSHIP!! Introducing now, hailing from The Depths of Hell. Coming in at 6’5 and 235 pounds ....accompanied by Vampira .....The King of Goths .... PSYCHOTIC GOTH!!!

Killing in the name of hits and the two 7ft giants Doomsday and Lucifer make their way out to the rampway. They power walk in tandem to the ring and both step over the top rope to enter the ring.

Frank Salazar : Introducing now, hailing from No the depths of hell.. Coming in at a combined weight of 720 pounds .... Lucifer and Doomsday .... SATANS DISCIPLES!!!

Jeremy Tucker: Doomsday and Lucifer coming in together showing a united front, clearly happy as long as one of them leaves with the belt tonight.

Master of puppets starts on the PA system. Out walls Samuel Blackstone with a huge smile on his face. He stands there at the entrance ramp, taking it all in. He then slowly walks down the ramp, eyeing the ring. He climbs in and waits.

Frank Salazar: And from Hawaii standing at 6'4 weighing 245lbs... SAMUEL BLACKSTONE!!!

The arena's lights go off and the fans immediately launch into a roaring pop at the sounds of Fall Out Boy's "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark" and the sight of their X-Crown Champion. Anthony Caffrey takes a few moments to stand up at the top of the ramp, looking out at those in the Caffrey Corner before heading down to the ring. He is wearing his X-Crown around his mouth for safety, and his tights read "CAFF" on the back.

Once Caffrey stops looking to the cheering fans, he locks eyes with the opposition. He does not break eye contact with tonight's opponent as he walks with a laser focus -- at least until he makes it to the ring steps. He reaches down and taps his ankle before pointing at his opponent. He then makes a simple motion to mime breaking it in half as if his opponent's ankle was a simple wishbone. The crowd join along in the motion, knowing the veteran technician has a deep list of broken ankles in his history.

Caffrey steps into the ring and moves past his opponent, handing his glasses off to the timekeeper. He looks back at his opponent and does a few last minute stretches, knowing he's in for a battle.

Frank Salazar : Introducing now, hailing from The greatest city in the world -- Philadelphia, PA. Coming in at 6’4 and 223 pounds .... THE XHF X COWN CHAMPION!! ANOTHONY CAFFREY!!!

Jeremy Tucker: Right away we have a mass brawl in the centre of the ring! The four challengers are pounding on the champion here- clearly they want to take him out of the equation!

Andrew Fulton: Makes sense, if Caffrey is out of the match, that means there's definitely going to be a new champion.

Jeremy Tucker: Samuel Blackstone now takes Psychotic Goth overhead with a belly to back suplex!

[Anthony Caffrey rolls out of the ring and drops to the mat. Blackstone turns around to be clasped around the throat by Lucifer!]

Andrew Fulton: Chokeslam!!

[Blackstone is folded in half with the chokeslam. Lucifer turns to bump chests with Doomsday!]

Jeremy Tucker: Look out, the two giants lock eyes-

Andrew Fulton: These two have been working together for 15 years! But tonight it's about the X-Crowd title and they need to put their partnership aside.

[Lucifer and Doomsday bump fists and the pair of them take one of Psychotic Goth and Blackstone each and start laying in enormous right hands.]

Jeremy Tucker: Looks like the Satan's Disciples are teaming up!

Andrew Fulton: Well if they DO play is this way they're going to be tough to stop for everyone else in this match, and Anthony Caffrey's title is in severe danger.

Jeremy Tucker: Remember this is a falls count anywhere match. The champion is going to have to have eyes in the back of his head.

Andrew Fulton: Right now it doesn't even look like his eyes can see straight.

Jeremy Tucker: X-Crown title on the line. Anthony Caffrey has to defend the belt, on the same night he's wrestled in the Anzac Cup.

Andrew Fulton: Lucifer goes for the clothesline on Psychotic Goth, but Goth pulls down the top rope and one of the two giants tumbles out of the ring!

Jeremy Tucker: Goth and Blackstone now double team on Doomsday, probably a sound plan given the circumstances.

Andrew Fulton: The two of them drop Doomsday's throat on the top rope with a flapjack!

[Doomsday recoils back holding his throat. Goth floors him with a drop toe hold.]

Jeremy Tucker: Samuel Blackstone follows up with a punt to the head!

Referee Don Greene: 1... (Goth drops an elbow to the back of Blackstone's head)

Jeremy Tucker: Psychotic Goth whips Blackstone to the ropes and drops him with a shoulder tackle on his return.

Andrew Fulton: Imagine if Psychotic Goth won the X-Crown title here tonight, what a feather that would be in the cap of his career.

Jeremy Tucker: But the champ is back in the ring! Can you believe it- Anthony Caffrey is still fighting, rocking Psychotic Goth into the ropes with stiff right hands, and the crowd here are on their feet.

Andrew Fulton: But Samuel Blackstone lifts a knee, and drops the X-Crown champion with a DDT!

Referee Don Greene: 1... (Caffrey kicks out)

[Lucifer is back in the ring and decapitates Blackstone with a big boot, to which the crowd let out a huge “Ooohhh!!”.]

Jeremy Tucker: On the outside Lucifer gets Psychotic Goth by the ankles and pulls him through the ropes! Goth has a giant to deal with on the outside now.

Andrew Fulton: Get out of there Goth! What's “run away” in ancient dialect!?

Jeremy Tucker: Lucifer slams Goth against the steel ring barricade, bending it into the audience.

Andrew Fulton: Watch out on the front row! It's a splash zone! And not for any bodily fluids you'd want on you.

Jeremy Tucker: Are there many bodily fluids you'd want on you, Andy?

Andrew Fulton: What I do behind closed doors is none of your concern Jerry.

[Goth blocks Lucifer's giant paw and slams his head into the steel ring post.]

Jeremy Tucker: Falls count anywhere here in his X-Crown title match. The champion Anthony Caffrey has to be alert to the chance of a pinfall here from almost anywhere.

Andrew Fulton: Meanwhile in the centre of the ring Anthony Caffrey rolls up Samuel Blackstone!

Referee Don Greene: 1... 2.. (Blackstone kicks out)

[Doomsday grabs Caffrey and tosses him effortlessly into a corner, then drives in like a freight train with a massive shoulder.]

Jeremy Tucker: Anthony Caffrey drops to the mat like a rag doll. The fact that he was even on his feet already is a miracle after his exertions tonight.

Andrew Fulton: Samuel Blackstone with a standing drop kick to the giant Doomsday, who staggers back into the corner he just crushed the X-Crown champion in.

Jeremy Tucker: Psychotic Goth with a facebuster onto the steel ring steps to Lucifer! The big man is busted open!

[Psychotic Goth covers Lucifer on the outside, an extra ref drops for the count.]

Referee Carl Daniels: 1... 2... (Lucifer kicks out)

Jeremy Tucker: As you can see ladies and gentlemen, there's plenty of referees on hand for this falls-count-anywhere X-Crown title match.

Andrew Fulton: All the more reason Anthony Caffrey needs to be on constant alert! He could have lost his championship there without even being involved in the pinfall.

Jeremy Tucker: That's the nature of the beast here. Samuel Blackstone nails Doomsday with a bulldog!

Andrew Fulton: But Anthony Caffrey then drops him with a clothesline!

Jeremy Tucker: The champion is firing up! The crowd are well behind him! A glorious dropkick floors Blackstone again.

Andrew Fulton: Caffrey follows up by clamping on with a side head lock!

[The crowd are red hot as Caffrey yanks on the neck joint. Blackstone groans in pain. Meanwhile on the outside Psychotic Goth and Lucifer are continuing their battle and this time it's Lucifer that drives a knee and rattles Goth's head off the barricade.]

Jeremy Tucker: Doomsday obliterates Anthony Caffrey with a clothesline!

Andrew Fulton: So much for the headlock.

Jeremy Tucker: Doomsday scoops up Samuel Blackstone and crushes him with a powerslam!

Referee Don Greene: 1... 2... (Blackstone kicks out)

Jeremy Tucker: Doomsday with a release German Suplex, making the 245lb Hawaiian look like a plush toy.

[On the outside Lucifer scoops up Goth and drives his back into the ring post.]

Jeremy Tucker: Goth falls to the floor on the outside. Lucifer with the cover!

Referee Carl Daniels: 1... 2.. (Anthony Caffrey out of nowhere breaks the count.)

Jeremy Tucker: Caffrey saving his title again!

Andrew Fulton: Where did he come from?

[Samuel Blackstone ducks a right hand from Doomsday in the corner and drives some boots into his midsection.]

Jeremy Tucker: Oooh Blackstone absolutely sticks Doomsday with a headbutt to the jaw!

Andrew Fulton: He follows it up with a spear!

Referee Don Greene: 1... 2.. (Doomsday kicks out)

Jeremy Tucker: On the outside Anthony Caffrey irish whips Psychotic Goth into the steel ring post. Lucifer stalking, goes for the clothesline but the X-Crown champion ducks and Lucifer slams his shoulder into the ring post!

[Lucifer rolls around holding his shoulder which could be dislocated. On the inside Samuel Blackstone drops a leg over Doomsday's head.]

Jeremy Tucker: X-Crown title on the line. What an opportunity for these four men, all fresh, to take the belt from Anthony Caffrey who's had to take part in the Anzac Cup here tonight.

Andrew Fulton: Caffrey drops Psychotic Goth on the outside with a Brotherly Love leg sweep DDT!

Jeremy Tucker: This could be it!

Referee Carl Daniels: 1... 2... (Lucifer breaks the count at the last second)

Jeremy Tucker: No respite for the champion who almost got out of this match with his title in tact there.

Andrew Fulton: Inside the ring Doomsday reverses an Irish whip and drops Samuel Blackstone with a shoulder. He pulls him back up only to drop him with a double underhook backbreaker!!

[Doomsday is about to go for a pin but Psychotic Goth leaps on his back with a sleeper hold.]

Jeremy Tucker: Look out! Psychotic Goth out of nowhere looking to shut Doomsday down!

Andrew Fulton: Sleeper applied, the giant Doomsday is having the life squeezed out of him by Psychotic Goth like a vice.

Jeremy Tucker: Doomsday fading fast! Goth has him down to one knee.

[The referee raises Doomsday's giant arm and it falls once.]

Jeremy Tucker: Could Psychotic Goth be about to be crowned X-Crown champion?

Andrew Fulton: Caffrey needs to get back in this ring and stop this.

[The referee raises Doomsday's arm again and it falls a second time.]

Jeremy Tucker: Caffrey back in the ring and hammers Goth across the back of the head breaking the sleeper.

Andrew Fulton: Samuel Blackstone is back to his feet and crushes Psychotic Goth with a brainbuster!!

Jeremy Tucker: Lucifer back in the ring, and bulldozes in to blast Samuel Blackstone over the top rope with a clothesline!

Andrew Fulton: Doomsday goes for the huge spear on Caffrey, but the X-Crown champ dodges out of the way and Doomsday smashes right into Lucifer!

Jeremy Tucker: Anthony Caffrey dropkicks Doomsday in the face with a smack and the giant tumbles over the ropes! Caffrey drops on Lucifer for the cover!

Referee Don Greene: 1... 2... 3!!!

Jeremy Tucker: He's done it!

Andrew Fulton: Caffrey escapes!

[“My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark” by Fall Out Boy plays again and the crowd reach their feet. Caffrey clutches the belt to his chest and has his hand raised by the referee.]

Frank Salazar: “Here is your winner and STILL X-CROWN CHAMPION.... ANTHONY CAFFREY!!!”

Psychotic Goth: "In a matter of moments before the big Anzac Cup tag team finale where those overrated over the hill pieces of shit The Stylistics or shall I say Shitilistics. They're going to face SWAT Classic a real team with real talent consisting of 'Lucky' Linda La Fey a real competitor with more determination to win than those over the hill fartbags wanting to steal unearned glory. Then there's her partner who will always put his body on the line to win a match unlike those two pieces of trash or shall I say those two jokes who are stinking up SWAT."

(He bellows in an Aboriginal dialect.)

Psychotic Goth: "Now getting to Zoran Sainovic's shitty temper tantrum of a match for the X-Crown. You Sainovic are going to be responsible for all the blood and hardcore violence that is about to occur. Believe me Anthony you don't know much about this kind of hardcore violence before. I know you came from an extreme promotion known as AXW but that's mild violence compared to a real hardcore promotion. You never heard of it before since you were too young to watch those matches."

(Psychotic Goth laughs as a member of the staff barely avoids him.)

Psychotic Goth: "Those were really violent at times and I was part of those matches too. Oh the blood and the gore you would have experienced back then but then again you're about to experience it to a new extreme. You shall see what real hardcore is it's not AXW and in fact it would make AXW look mild."

(He laughs maniacally.)

Psychotic Goth: "Then there's Blackstone who suddenly shuts his mouth after one or two promos. Why is that? You found a full dumpster of free trash to eat or did you run out of things to say or even better no whores to proposition since Brothers in Anarchy took them for themselves."

(Psychotic Goth continues to laugh maniacally.)

Psychotic Goth: "Then there's Satan's Disciples who also fell silent all of a sudden. Why Doomsday and Lucifer did you fall silent. You had all this opportunity to speak on this and yet you are silent as a dead body in a tomb. This is your time to make your case for the X-Crown. Then again I don't expect much."

(He grows silent as he continues to stalk through the corridors.)

Psychotic Goth: "Imagine there's going to be all out carnage and bodies flying all over the place trying to beat each other to death for an X-Crown Championship that Zoran the bitch hopes to steal by abusing his authority. Well whoever wins won't give you this prestigious championship. Everyone's going to be flying all over the place taking each other out to make sure that X-Crown is there's for the taking."

(Psychotic Goth lowers his head and extends his arms flinging his head back revealing his pale handsome goth like looks.)

Psychotic Goth: "In moments 'The King of the Goths' shall realize his destiny in his quest for the X-Crown Championship. I shall realize my destiny and I shall extend my darkness upon SWAT and beyond. There shall be no doubt of my destiny which has been denied. This time I shall not fail. (After a tough semi-finals the two look to regroup and put the honour of the company on the line against the ghosts of Hardkore World. From the bloody looks of our heroes, it is going to require a lot of electrical tape to put on a brave face. A singular focus pushes them towards the medical bay to get cleaned up, fortunately despite the urgency of their strides, the injuries allow investigative reporter, Sabrina Sinstone, to catch up with them.)


Sabrina Sinstone: Rad – Linda – can I get a quick word? Congratulations Linda on being the first Amazon to make it to the finals of the Anzac Cup.

Radu Matei: First Amazon to WIN the Anzac Cup.

Sabrina Sinstone: After that KGB war, it is going to be an uphill battle. That said, you two have turned a lot of heads since the Cup started. We knew that individually, you were forces to be reckoned with, but I don’t think anyone could have imagined how well you’d mesh together.

Lucky Linda: I’ll say. The first time we met, he almost broke my neck.

Sabrina Sinstone: Well it was a horrible accide-

Radu Matei: Oh no, that was conscious, I tried.

Sabrina Sinstone: Oh.

Radu Matei <shakes head with a tired smile>: I was working through some things. Dealing with Lynn Brewster, who could blame me?

Lucky Linda <shakes hand to indicate its flimsy>: It is what it is. We had a great match, and the mutual respect IS there. At the same time, I almost suffered a career ending injury, back then that was a bitter pill to swallow.

Sabrina Sinstone <desperate for a scoop>: Sounds like some unresolved issues. Could we see you meltdown on the eve of victory?!

Radu Matei: Sorry Sin. If it was just a great match – that would be one thing, but this was the BEST match.

Lucky Linda: Exactly. Sharing that award really forced us to grow as people...

(The Syndicate Wrestling And Tradition year’s end awards.)


(A relative triumph in the early days of the interim commissionership of Zoran Sainovic, was snagging the Fairground Follies as the venue for the annual award ceremony. Located inside the Mechanical Music Museum an hour outside of Sydney, the 2200 square foot space would add a sense of glamour not previously seen for the awards. Sadly Sainovic decided the pocket the substantial deposit, booking a dingy storage space down the street instead.)


(The camera pans past balloon arches, streamers and banners used to gussy up the space - before pulling up to a table. Here the owner of SWAT shoves fistfuls of “Most Popular Wrestler Suzi Spitz” ballots into a box.)


Mafia Stereotype Gino: Yo, Uncle – why you fixing it for this Spitz broad? You hitting that?

Joe Pesci <spinning around with a snarl>: I don’t want that bastard Radu to win EVERYTHING! Now get the accountants over here, tell them we missed a few votes on favourite and need to recount th-

(Massive applause even manages to drown out the owner’s vulgarity laced rant. As Joe starts shoving even more ballots into the box, including his own name to make sure that monster Radu doesn’t pick up best manager too, the winners make there way up to the stage.)


Radu Matei: Thanks David, you were great on Happy Days.

TV’s David Soul <starts to correct him but is happy to get any acknowledgement>: I’ll take it.

(Arriving at the podium at the same time, the duo that would be SWAT Classic cut off one another’s acceptance speeches.)


Radu Matei: Please go ahead Linda, my acceptance speech can wait. <turning to crowd with a grin> I’m expecting to win a few more of these tonight.

Joe Pesci <frantically scribbling out more ballots>: STAY AWAY FROM THE MANAGER AWARD, YOU SON OF-


(Appreciating Matei’s arrogant boast for a humorous statement of fact, the crowd laugh over the SWAT owner’s vulgarity laced warning.)


Lucky Linda <forced smile>: Chance is kind of my THING, Radu. I’ll get more than my share of opportunities - so please <waving a hand to the microphone> start.

Radu Matei <shrug>: Your call.

<steps over to the mic> I probably will pick up some additional baubles this evening – but none of them will mean as much as this. Other than tag team honours, THIS is the gold that acknowledges our sport as a collaborative effort.

<holding up two fingers – on splints naturally> This took two.

The combative nature of our profession usually focuses verbal sparring on putting our opponents’ down. That is an important part of the spectacle. It is easy, however, to lose sight of the goal while jockeying for position in a negative wave of trash talk. If I spent an entire tournament labouring on about how my opponents were beneath me, worthless, and generally sucked – trying to win a one sided argument, with more emphasis on malice than entertainment - what would my victory really mean?

Respecting others IS respecting oneself.


(Viewers at home watching this flashback from six months ago may find it relevant to current programming.)


Radu Matei: When I look back on this past year, at all the fantastic matches that the rest of my SWAT family have put on?  Timeless and Goth, hell even Frostbite and Soutter... It means a great deal that THIS particular match was centred out for approval by all of you. It is an immense honour, one I happily share with Linda.

I could not have done it without Linda La Fey, nor would I want to.


(Applause in the air, Radu nods appreciatively to La Fey who steps up to the mic.)


Lucky Linda: Thank you. As Radu said, this award means the absolute world to me, and I already have a spot picked out on the mant-

(As Linda and Radu both hold the 2019 MOTY trophy, an audible gasp escapes the collective crowd. Who is going to take it home?)


“Industrial Man” Attila Balan <with all the emotional attachment of a cold and calculating robot>: ROUND 2!


(A round 2 chant starts up amongst the audience, even David Soul gets in on the action. The duo that would become SWAT Classic awkwardly stand on the stage, neither willing to give an inch, but also wanting to avoid friction in front of their peers.)


(Star Wipe!)


(A transition takes us to the SWAT award show after party.......... It’s the exact same venue, only Pesci wasn’t invited. There are a lot of familiar faces, the only noticeable exceptions are a certain society that weren’t having their egos placated so fucked off to their old boys club. As the rest of the crowd get pissed, SWAT Classic are still on the stage ignoring their many other awards as they try to figure out a schedule for the one they share.)


Radu Matei: So we’re agreed, I get Mondays through Wednesdays, you get Thursdays through Saturdays, and we’ll alternate Sundays.

Lucky Linda: And holidays? You can have Christmas if I get it for Thanksgiving.

Radu Matei: That works. The only holiday that really matters to me is St. Patrick’s Day...

Lucky Linda: Son of a bitch!



(As communication breaks down, the camera turns to the party where The Dread Lord Dinosaur Bones who has wrapped a sheet over one shoulder.)










Zoran Sainovic <plastered and pointing>: TOGA! TOGA!












DINOSAUR BONES: IGNORANT FLESHLING! I AM CLEARLY DRESSED AS A GHOST!





(As the SWAT Ultimate champion tries to coax the commissioner into a tar pit match, the camera pans back to the future SWAT Classic, who have brought in a mediator.)


Radu Matei: I’ll keep my pets away from it, if she promises not to drink out of it.

Lucky Linda: Why do you assume I’d be drinking?

Radu Matei: YOU just assumed I had bugs in my apartment.

Lucky Linda: CLEARLY.

Ben Rothstein, Wrestling Lawyer <nodding>: Both are very valid arguments. At this point, we are at an impasse and with no viable alternatives - WE SHOULD CUT THE TROPHY IN HALF!!!


(Always the life of the party, Rothstein pulls out his trusty welding torch.)


Lucky Linda: NO!

Radu Matei <putting his hand between the torch and the statue>: Rather than have harm come to the trophy, I will let Linda have it...

Lucky Linda: Me too-

Radu Matei: ...on St. Patrick’s day, with the shared schedule we already outlined.


(Dirty looks are exchanged.)


Ben Rothstein, Wrestling Lawyer <turning down torch>: Fine. You called my bluff, to be honest, I was hoping to crack it open to see what material was inside. I represent a class action lawsuit against Syndicate Wrestling, involving the mercury poisoning of the 2016 winners. You could both be at serious risk.


(Faced with the prospect of defacing their statuette, the MOTY winners nod politely to one another at the decision reached. Picking up their shared property, Matei and La Fey make their way out of the party. In the background, the guests chant “Toga” while Roman looking commissioners and dinosaurs attempt to throw each other into the punchbowl.)


Sabrina Sinstone (V.O.): So you put your differences aside to take care of the award together?

Lucky Linda (V.O.): It was contentious at the beginning, but we swallowed our pride and did what was best for the trophy. You always have to put the award first.

Radu Matei (V.O.): Exactly, it's not the trophy’s fault – and it's important to be very clear about that.

Lucky Linda (V.O.): Co-ownership isn’t always easy, but we made it work.


(A burnt out dodge pulls quickly into a parking lot. Leaning against her BMW, Linda checks her watch – late. Leaning out his window, Radu starts to offer excuses, only for Linda to grab the trophy from him.)


(A series of dissolves continue to highlight the superstars different approaches to award ownership. Heading to the company sack race, Radu has already started hoping before noticing a ribbon around the statue’s base. These accessories look ridiculous! Linda shows up at Radu’s apartment to pick up the MOTY, only to find Radu watching Human Centipede 3 with it. Not appropriate. Does it smell of Jin? Was that an ant? With every image, the two’s relationship becomes increasingly icy.)


(Another three days, another exchange. They meet at a public park. The award is left to play on a swing, while the team that would be SWAT Classic sit on a nearby bench, having the kind of animated conversation that might upset inanimate ears.)


(Before they can get too heated – Linda looks back to the playground and scowls. The Sacrificial Idol follows her gaze – and the camera pans with them. The MOTY award lies in the gravel, while a 1978 Sour Apple award now sits on the swing.)


(Radu and Linda’s eyes narrow in unison as a team is born.)

(Hall & Oates starts pumping over the montage as it starts to get more upbeat, an SWAT Classic spring into action. Like a mother protecting her child, Lucky Linda charges up to TV’s David Soul.)


Lucky Linda: What the hell do you think you’re doing?

TV’s David Soul: It’s a public park! You don’t intimidate me, I played a cop in the 70s!

Radu Matei <picking up the match of the year with paternal concern, and dusting it off>: You okay, sport?

TV’s David Soul: My sour apple has just as much right to use this equipment as that scrap metal.


(Hutch might not play by the rules, but he’s gone too far. With a guttural scream, Lucky Linda attacks the elderly actor. Blood everywhere. Trusting her to take care of business, Radu Matei turns his attention to the 1978 Sour Apple – field kicking it into the horizon.)


(A star wipe sees SWAT Classic speeding down the highway. Sirens follow them. Is it now illegal to beat a senior citizen half to death? They pull over. A motorcycle cop that looks alarmingly similar to Erik Estrada steps up to the window.)


Erik Estrada: This lane is for vehicles occupied by three-


(Radu points a thumb to the back where the award is strapped into a child safety seat. CHiPs shakes his head as the trio speed off into the distance.)


(Decked out as a GWAR cover act, SWAT Classic compete against high school punks in a battle of the bands! The trophy plays some mean drums. When they win, the teens cry. Despite being the federation’s only faces, SWAT Classic mock the upset children. They’re rock stars.)


(The trio break into Champoon, to steal the rival federation’s mascot, Potso The Pig. Well, Potso is someone’s mascot. They love their ribs. Award pulls his weight, literally as a blunt object to knock out security guards and frisky hogs.)


(At the La Brea tar pits, the group pour shaving cream onto Dinosaur Bones claw – then tickle his nose so he rubs it in his skeletal face!)


(At the hospital, SWAT Classic sign each other’s casts. The award shows up with a thousand origami cranes. He does care.)


(Over at the fair, our trio look ready to get sick as they stagger off a rollercoaster. Stumbling over to a game of chance, Radu tries his luck at the ring toss, winning a prize in short order. Radu selects a poop emoji balloon to give to the award. Stuffing its face with cotton candy, the 2019 SWAT Best Match of the Year declares their trip to the carnival to be the most awesome day ever, before the balloon is tied to him.)


(The final image sees the hydrogen in the poop balloon lifting the award off the ground. SWAT Classic chase after him, before a star wipe takes us back…)

(The Anzac Cup.)


Lucky Linda: So we started as rivals, but are now genuine friends.

Radu Matei: And if you think those adventures were madcap, you should see the ones we had in my coma. <nodding towards the back> Speaking of medicine, we really do need patch these wounds up.

Sabrina Sinstone: Of course, thank you again Rad, Linda, and good luck.


(SWAT Classic continue down the hall.)


Sabrina Sinstone <turning back to the camera>: There you have it fans, as we leave SWAT Classic to make their final preparations for the main event, one thing is certain. We should all hope that they win the Anzac Cup, because no one will treat it better.



(Star Wipe to the Match of the Year still floating in the sky.)

[The sack groans as it falls to the pavement.]

[The sack’s pleas for understanding in this bumpy truck world wake the cameraman from a daze. Image stabilizers are a lost cause for the whirlwind of jarring motions that follow the videographer jumps off after it.]

Sack: Damn it Boothe, you were supposed to keep watch!

[It wasn’t a sack at all, but Zoran Sainovic wrapped in blankets still suffering from a fever since he dropped the X*Crown yesterday. God damn it’s been a long day. Along with his person the blanket is also wrapped around a number of championship belts.]

Zoran Sainovic: Where are we?

Zoran Sainovic: Didn’t zat truck pick us up outside Melbourne?

Boone: Sounds right.

Zoran Sainovic: So how did we get from Australia in ze PACIFIC ocean all ze way over to Manchester, England... BY TRUCK?

[The two wander into a long stretch of tents, or homeless encampment.]

Zoran Sainovic: Oh good. A tent town. At least Recoba won’t be able to accuse me of ignoring ze REAL Manchester.

[The commissioner of SWAT laughs to himself, but this moment of joy is fleeting.]

Zoran Sainovic: What are you doing here, Frank?

Zoran Sainovic: What happened to all of you?

“RSO” Frank Wilkes: Oh, when Lynn Brewster shut down all the regions, we were all put out of work. We were making ends meet until a few months ago, when our royalty cheques dried up.

[Awkward pause.]

The two wear red and white variations on their usual outfits to reinforce their team dynamic despite their substantial single successes. Flashbulbs go off throughout the arena as the two start to make their way down in sync with the music. Linda is the more positive of the two, happily slapping fans hands, while Matei reaches out for a few, but still finds the prospects of being a fan favourite odd.)

Jeremy Tucker : SWAT Classic looking very focused, two big match fighters, who have seen and done it all, and they are chaffing at the bit to get their hands on the stylistics.

["Strength in Numbers" by the Music starts playing and after a few moments "The Society of the New Breed" flashes onto the screen to which the crowd roar. Devilishly Handsome Jonnie Valentine and 110% Syberus walk out on to the stage and stand together to a massive ovation from the crowd.]

Jeremy Tucker : Radu and Jonnie Valentine starting it off for each side. They hook up and Jonnie catches Radu with an armdrag. Radu quick back to his feet and Jonnie with another arm drag, now turning it into an arm bar. Jonnie is one of the best technicians in the entire XHF.

Andrew Fulton : Radu is more of a brawler, and he plants Jonnie with a big right hand. Jonnie holds onto the arm bar and moves over and Syberus blind tags in.

Jeremy Tucker : Syb with a running snap mare to Radu, who was still in the arm bar and didn’t see it coming. Jonnie and Syb then with a double hip toss to Radu and Jonnie makes his way out of the ring.

Andrew Fulton : Syberus and Radu in there now, and Radu snarls at Syb. Syb with a back suplex to Radu. Radu rolls to his feet no selling it.

Jeremy Tucker : Syb now delivers a judo hip toss, and Radu no sells again. Headbutt from Syb, Radu smiles at him and then plants him with a head butt of his own! Ouch!

Andrew Fulton : Syb wasn’t ready for that. Radu stomps on him, lifts him up and just spikes him on his head!

Jeremy Tucker : Radu deliberately botched that move.

Andrew Fulton : For someone so proud of his matches and building others up, he sure doesn’t show Syberus the same professionalism.

Jeremy Tucker : I told you these two have no love lost for each other. Syb clutches at his neck, and Radu tags in Linda. She climbs the top turnbuckle and nails Syb with a flying Senton! Cover by Linda!

Andrew Fulton : Linda clamps on a chin lock, Syb fights to his feet and breaks the hold with a elbow to the stomach. He then throws Linda into the ropes and almost decapitates her with a discuss clothesline.

Jeremy Tucker : Linda tags in Radu and he starts choking Syb. No finesse with this man Andy.

Andrew Fulton : Finesse is over rated. Beat people up. Get a three count. Go home. Repeat.

Jeremy Tucker : Radu with a punch to the head of Syb. Syb shakes it off and punches him back, again Radu no sells. Either he feels no pain or he is making a statement here.

Andrew Fulton : Possibly both.

Jeremy Tucker : Radu goes for another punch, but Syb blocks it and chop to the throat, then delivers a wristlock takedown with a head scissors. Syb reaches out while holding onto the leg scissors and tags in Valentine.

Andrew Fulton : Jonnie enters the ring and delivers a running knee drop to Radu who is still in the leg scissors. Syb yells at him to no sell THAT! Then lays in some stomps.

Jeremy Tucker : Radu jumps to his feet doing just that and he and Syb are now face to face, pushing against each others foreheads, like two rams ... RUDE AWAKENING NECK BREAKER FROM VALENTINE TO RADU!

Andrew Fulton : Valentine lifts Radu up for a German suplex and Syberus springboards off the ropes and nails a neck breaker at the same time!

Andrew Fulton : Syberus argues with the ref at her run in and Mackey tells him he is still in here too and to get out. Linda with an X Factor on Jonnie, she covers him and hooks the leg ...

Jeremy Tucker : Don’t be absurd. He just likes biting people.

Jeremy Tucker : Radu bulldogs Valentine and then tags in Linda.

Andrew Fulton : Linda back on the turnbuckle ... flying body press on Jonnie ... but he rolls over with the momentum and cradles Linda .........

Jeremy Tucker : Radu slides in, disappointment and frustration etched on his face and he helps Linda back to her feet.

Andrew Fulton : Well, there you have it guys, what a show .... hold on, what’s this?

Jeremy Tucker : ITS ZORAN!! The Commiss. He is here to present the Cup as he promised earlier in the night. He doesn’t look too thrilled to be awarding it to the winners, but something tells me he wouldn’t be happy with presenting it to SWAT Classic either.

Lucky Linda : (snatching the mic and Cup from Zoran) THIS! Sainovic! (she spits the name like it’s a curse word) This isn’t about YOU! I will be stuffed if I will stand by and watch you ruin another tournament victory! This is about THEM! They fought the good fought! What a match. I said, if you beat us i will glady say the better team won on the night, and YOU DID! So, congratulations. (She hands the Cup to Syb and Jonnie.) As for you Zoran, hit the bricks! [Zoran snatches the mic back and glares fury at Linda. He goes to speak and Jonnie snatches the mic off him this time. The Society then all move in front of Linda and surround Zoran.]

Jonnie Valentine : You heard the lady. HIT THE BRICKS!

[Zoran looks around, surrounded and steam is literally coming out of his ears, he is livid, he stands his ground and the Society all move another step closer and he then decides to retreat and save it for another day. "Strength in Numbers" by the Music blares and streamers start flying into the ring as the Society lift Syb and Jonnie on their shoulders, they raise the Cup high in the air celebrating as we fade. ]
