The scene fades in to the Supremacy Arena, held in Anchorage, Alaska. There's a voice filling in and reaching the ears of the socially distanced crowd.
PA System: Ladies and gentlemen, it is now time for the 2020 XHF Network Year End Awards. Let's start by giving a hand to the host of the show. Here is... CROSS RECOBAAAAAAA!

Joe Walsh's "Turn to Stone" plays across the arena as Cross Recoba walks on stage and approaches the podium in a navy blue suit and Boston Red tie. He places a bottle of Nastro Azzuro next to the microphone and leans into the microphone.Recoba: Good evening, ladies and gentlemen and welcome to the 2021 XHF AWARDS SHOW! Now, before we get onto our first award of the night, the last twelve months have been some of the toughest the XHF Network has ever seen. The economic uncertainty, the pandemic...the ReVenants turning up...but we're here to celebrate some of the greatest and most memorable moments that we've seen over the last 12 months, and in some case - there are almost too many to fairly choose. But before we get to the first award, a famous face wanted to pop in and give everyone a message of support and love. The camera cut to the video screen. Recoba: I'm sure we can all agree, Mr. Santana's words are ones we can all live by. The graphic on-screen announces the first category:Recoba: Rags to Riches represents someone who looks at where they are and compares it to where they want to be and then takes every step imaginable to reach their. This year's winner is no different, it had been rumored that he might even have stepped away from not just the Network but also the sport but instead, he finds himself at the very pinnacle of the sport...
{AND THE WINNER IS} (2ND: Bloodied Fox 3RD: Eddie D)
Recoba: Congratulations, would you like to come up here and tell us how it feels to win this award?

"Blood, Tears, Dust" by Lacuna Coil hits the PA and Dylan Black stands up. X*Crown around his waist. He makes his way to the stage, nodding and waving to a few people. He gives Cross a nod, and grabs the award.
Dylan: Thank you, thank you.
He surveys the room.
Dylan: You know, Cross is right. From the beginning of this year, I was in a bit of a slump. Nowhere to go, no will to wrestle. I thought I might be at my wits end.
He looks at the award, then he looks at the X*Crown. A smile comes on his face.
Dylan: I guess I really did find riches in the rags.
He smiles up at the crowd.
Dylan: Thanks again, everyone!

As Dylan makes his way down from the stage, Cross steps back up to the podium. He takes a quick swig from the bottle of beer and sets it back down. Recoba: Once more, the X Crown Champion - Dylan Black! Cross pauses for another round of applause. Recoba: As we move onto our next award, let me say a little something about it. The Key to the XHF Network Award is seen by many as THE award that means the most to receive. It's for the wrestlers who go out every night and leave a part of themselves in the ring for everyone in attendance, who don't shirk away from an autograph as they grab a steak after the show, and who have the same enthusiasm in the first fan-selfie of the day as they do in their ninetieth. With that being said, let's find out who will receive this year's prestigious award... Cross is passed an envelope.
Recoba: And the winner OF THE 2021 XHF KEY TO THE XHF NETWORK YEAR AWARD IS..... {WINNER} =2nd: Mistress Discipline =2nd: Dylan Black Recoba: It's a well-deserved win, if you'd like to come up to the stage, please...

From off stage walks El Combatiente. He walks up to the podium and takes a long look at the award.
El Combatiente: Esto no era de esperar. Hace tan solo un aƱo acababa de firmar mi contrato SWAT y estaba volviendo a la red y ahora estoy aquĆ. No podrĆa haberlo hecho con toda la gente. Gracias a todos. (Wow, this was not expected. Just one year ago I had just signed my SWAT contract and was on my way back to the network and now I am here. I could not have done it with out all of the people. Thank you all.)
The masked man blows kisses to the crowd on walks off stage.

As El Combatiente passes Recoba, the host nods in appreciation to the winner. He steps back up to the microphone. Recoba: Of course, they say without evil, good cannot exist. For every Batman, there is a Joker. For every Superman, there is a Lex Luthor...and for Michael Jordan, the city of Chicago got to laugh as he shoved it in Patrick Ewing's face every time, without answer. Recoba smiles at the distant memories of Bulls tapes of his childhood. Recoba: So, it would only make sense to follow the fan-favorite award with that of its most hated villain. The competitor who makes the fans skin crawl, who could unite the Gaza strip if they were given only their matches and interviews to watch. The winner of this award could be set on fire in the street and yet no man would even want to piss on him. They truly represent the dark arts of the science. Another envelope is passed to Recoba.
Recoba: The 2021 XHF KINGPIN OF THE YEAR IS... {The Most Evil Bastard is...} mosler=2nd: Armand Von Krauss =2nd: Seth Dillinger Recoba: No, don't wait for the applause. Just make your speech before they start throwing things...

"Accepting the award for the late, great Zoran Sainovic - is a man who bears a passing resemblance to him."
(A Puerto Rican teenager with the nose of Tony Danza, and everything else Walter Mathieu, picks up the award for Zoran Sainovic.)
Pepe Morales: Oh, uh, wow. Not sure why I'm here - people say we look alike. Zis would be a sad moment, but we know zat Zoran is in a better place. (Looks around at Anchorage) Anywhere would be. I know zis will mean a lot to his family- his son, Death Trap - who is hoping to one day follow in his father's footsteps and become a professional wrestler. Zis should go a long way to inspiring zat dream. ...But as I've been doing a lot of research on Zoran Sainovic... I know zat if he was here, he'd say...
Behind every GREAT VILLAIN, zere is a GREAT HERO...
It's true. It's very true...
Yet Zoran managed to do it ALL ON HIS OWN.
And given zat 95% of ze XHF are villains, I think we can consider zis award not to be Ze Kingpin - no - but as ze best at what everyone is trying to do, zis makes Zoran Sainovic your 2020 WRESTLER OF ZE YEAR! ...also most popular...
And to zat, I'm sure ze late Mister Sainovic would say...
Tell me something I don't know.
(Morales holds the award high, sure that the rancid produce being thrown at the stage are for the Kingpin's speech and not the Hurricane Kid.)

As Pepe Morales leaves the stage, award in hand, Cross walks from the back of the stage. He checks his lapels for any errant debris that was hurled his way and signals off-stage to someone with a brushing motion towards the floor. He takes another sip from the bottle of beer. Recoba: Accepting the award of behalf of Zoran...Pepe Morales... the teenage sensation....you know it amazes me, teenagers don't tend to get the call from the XHF, from Jeffrey Epstein, sure...Mongo not so much. Cross looks across the room to make sure he isn't making a list somewhere. Recoba: Speaking of which: Mongo, you're aware that Pepe and Dylan are entering a cage on Sunday? You're literally arming them and standing back and watching the consequences...if you weren't so cheap I'd be fed a line about American Foreign policy. He shakes his head at no-one in particular. Recoba: A fan's connection to a wrestler isn't just won inside the ring or on the microphone, it can be won just by the feeling it invokes when their music careens around the arena. After all, Leon Chant isn't just known for Chantsistency. The next award runs through the divide of good guy and bad, it's to the wrestler whose music can make the hairs on a fan's neck stand up, can turn a crowd from church-mice to a rabid audience and makes their adrenaline run without any notice. Cross lifts up the envelope from the podium. Recoba: The 2021 XHF Platinum Award goes to... {The Best Music of the XHF is} 2nd:Blood Tears Dust (Lacuna Coil -Dylan Black) =3rd:Grieg's Piano Concerto in A Minor (ELO) - Mongo the Destroyer =3rd: Eternity (Orion) - Timeless Recoba: If you'd like to make your way up to the stage to collect your award and say a few words...

*āMy Own Worst Enemyā by Lit hits as the crowd apparently goes wild. A spotlight falls just a little off to the side of the stage where we find Randy Angel chatting with what appears to be a normal staffer, who is freaked out and points Randy to the stage. He saunters up to the microphoneā*
Randy: First J-ROK and now the XHF Network awards? Iām sweeping up!
*He takes a swig of booze*
Randy: Iād like to thank first Super Sake, drink Super Sake responsibly folks! Iād also like to thank my brother Nelly for not working his hardest to get me off the sauce- and my best friend Kris Quake for enabling me when everyone else was trying to change how I live.
*He toasts the camera*
Randy: For everyone out there who wanted to follow the most convenient dream available while getting really sloshed on the way, THIS ONEāS FOR YOU!
*The song hits again and we all wonder if rewarding a man for very clear alcoholism is wise. Oh and Randy is shuffled off stage*

Recoba steps back up to the podium. He picks up the bottle of beer and is momentarily confused as to where it went since he was last at the mic. He waves a hand towards it for a stagehand to grab him another. Recoba: Randy Angel, everyone! We're sure to see the inspiring Lifetime movie with the inspiring story of the man who followed his dreams, one flashing blue light at a time...or how having a girlfriend without an appointment for her retainer can pay off in the end! Cross is passed another bottle of Nastro Azzuro and takes a quick swig. Recoba: Recoba: As I mentioned earlier, 2020 was a tremendous year for the Network. We saw the return of familiar faces such as Steve Awesome and Hyperion, we said goodbye to some beloved names like Ryan Young, Vincent Draven and Michael Storm. Cross winces at the last name.
Recoba: However, this next award is for those people who joined us in 2020 and immediately made an impact. You only have to look at the previous winners and realize that, if you want to put a bet on a future Hall of Famer, the XHF Rookie of the Year award is a great indicator of success. You only have to look at the ballot sheet that went around to realize this and the glaring omission...He opens the envelope.
Recoba: And the 2021 XHF NETWORK ROOKIE OF THE YEAR IS... {WINNER} 2nd:Adam Sanders 3rd: Pequeno Dinosaurio Recoba: Perhaps a few words from our winner...

R-E-V Three letters announced over the PA in a super slow fashion precede the explosive sound of "When the Levee Breaks" by Led Zeppelin playing. Keith Williams prances onto the stage followed by Jeff Noon who throws handfuls of red streamers in his wake. Neglecting any sort of handshake, The Paragon of Sleaze jerks the award away from Cross Recoba as he and Jeff bully themselves into position at the podium as the music stops. Keith Williams: "I know we're short for time, so I promise I'll make this quick."Pulling a pre-prepared letter out of his coat, Williams lets it unravel until it's hit his feet and rolled across the entire stage. Keith Williams: "I'd like to thank my former best friend in first grade for stealing my pogs. You taught me the most valuable lesson I could learn. Don't trust anyone, they're all pieces of shit."Skimming over some of the names on the list, Keith reads off several. Keith Williams: "This wouldn't be possible without my parents. Mom, Dad, your baby boy did it! Who else? Oh, oh, oh! The lunch ladies! My high school coaches! Neo James Carner! Rob Garcia! Oxford Osland!"Spying a name that causes him to visibly weep. Keith Williams: "Most of all, this is for you, Alex! George Alexander Trebek! You beautiful, beautiful man! We were robbed of your brilliance!"Cross Recoba motions to Keith to wrap it up and The Muse for the Masses shoots him a death stare. Keith Williams: "If it weren't for cucks like our presenter for the evening, it wouldn't shine a spotlight on those really needing recognition. Like me!"Covering the award in kisses, Keith grips it tight and thrusts it in the air. Keith Williams: "Cross, you and Adam make GREAT hosts!"As KW goes to insult Recoba again, generic awards music is played to force Williams off stage. Jeff and Keith reluctantly leave, but not before more streamers are thrown as Cross resumes control of the podium.

With the Paragon of Sleaze having been escorted back to his table, Cross once more walks up to the podium, this time shaking head. Recoba: Keith Williams...what can I say? Perhaps that I'm jealous of everyone who's never met you... The insult out of his system, Cross returns back to the matter at hand. Recoba: As we're approaching the end of the first half of the Awards show it brings us to an interesting category for the Network. The next award is for the best tag-team that the XHF Network has seen in the last twelve months. It's how I came to the Network, as part of a tag-team. The mindset, the approach, the gameplans are different when you've got another person on your side in the ring. Tag-teams can come in varying sizes, shapes, and combinations. We've seen tag-teams that contrast, tag-teams that complement, and those tag-teams where the younger member carries a veteran to one last payday before Mongo invites them for an annual review meeting behind the wood shed...with a shotgun. Cross lets the last line breathe a little before continuing. Recoba: With some people saying that the art of tag-team wrestling is dying, the XHF Network has bucked the trend and seen the titles be fiercely contested and held by a variety of tag-teams. It's brought us such memorable moments as the tag-team match at the Rumble where LGBTKO finally succumbed to the team of Dos Angeles, the feel-good moment of Charles wearing gold, and then whatever you could describe any promo the Awesome Bastards turned in! Cross picks up the envelope. Recoba: This award is for the team that is seen as THE stand-out team of the year, that made the biggest impact out of any within the division.
Cross opens the envelope.
Recoba: To all those in attendance, and to those of you tuning in on the Network, your tag-team of the year is...
{WHY HAVENT YOU CLICKED THIS YET?} 2nd:LGBTKO 3rd:Team Fairtex
Recoba: And now, over to them...

(On the tron, Deathless appears in a hospital bed. He's attached to a few too many tubes to lean into a close-up, but does get a splint covered hand up for a warm greeting.)
Radu Matei: Sorry I couldn't be there in person, but a big thanks to all our fans that got out to vote. In a year that featured prominent runs by the LGBTKO, Dos Angeles and The Borgs, I question if our win has more to do with the short term memories of voters <faint smile> ...But I'll take it all the same.
I can honestly say that Death Trap and Mistress were hands down the toughest opponents I've faced in years, and in a division with the likes of The ReVenants, Skyforce, and The Nihilists waiting in the wings - the tag division has never been more vibrant.
At the start of 2020, I was broken. Not unlike today. I had nothing left but a winning streak that was more of a hindrance than an accomplishment. Over the last year, health required that I transitioned from singles to tags. It wasn't an easy process, tag wrestling is a very different beast, and it required no small amount of patience from my various partners and the fans.
I've spent the bulk of my Network career as a SWAT exclusive. SWAT is my home. I bleed Syndicate, and wouldn't have a career without their constant support. As a group, we don't tend to mix it up with the rest of the Network. Before the Purple Emperors, I only had a single global event under my belt. By the time many of you became familiar with my work, I was in the middle of calling it a career. To my SWAT brothers and sisters, I would urge you to strike out, show SWAT's strength, its character, its charm - on these global stages. Isolation is not the answer.
Take a page from tag team wrestling.
We're all in this together.
XHF. These last five months have been a dream, and I will always be eternally grateful to Anthony Caffrey for forcing me out of my comfort zone and into your world. Provided he doesn't use this stage to attack my federation, I couldn't ask for a better partner, and it is a great privledge to share this with him. Caff, when you first-
(Music starts to play, suggesting that if Radu wants to let his partner get a word in edgewise he should probably shut up. He's new to sharing spot lights...)
Radu Matei: One last thing on divisive politics...
PRESIDENT KANYON - THE MURDER HORNETS ARE COMING FOR YOU! YOU SCAPEGOATED THE WRONG INSECT - AND BETWEEN THEIR LEGION OF STINGERS AND ME, ONE OF US IS GOING TO DROP YOU ON YOUR FUCKING HEAD!!
...all yours, Caff.
(The Sacrificial Idol nods appreciatively to his fans from the tron.)

The entrance theme of the Purple Emperors, 'Tick Tick Boom', hits the speaker system. One half of the XHF Tag Team Champions and the owner of FIRESIDE, Anthony Caffrey makes his way to the podium, graciously accepting his award before waving off a cheering crowd. He reaches into the jacket of his suit, pulling out a speech.
Anthony Caffrey: Thank you, ladies and gentlemen, for those of you who voted or cheered for us over the course of the year. After wars against teams like the ReVenants, SKY Force, Rat Bastard and Greg Adkins, Top of the Class, Masters of the Mat, Gordon Carlson and āIron Bearā Joe Ghaven, and of course, other teamsā¦
Caffrey smiles as after each team heās paused to let the crowd boo or cheer accordingly.
Caffrey: ...weāre thrilled to have survived and honored to receive this award. Our goal is to give back to this division just as much as itās given us, which is why FIRESIDEās created the Open Door Policy. One win gets you a shot at the FIRESIDE Tag Team Championships currently held by the dastardly Unique Stud Alliance, and three wins gets you a shot at Radu and I. Itās open to all Network tag teams, including those in two wildly differing companies like Radu and I, so grab a friend and walk through the door like Lord Dominicus and Jason Long are already doing. Weāll be waiting for you. Thank you.
Caffrey folds up his speech and holds up his award to the fans, getting another quick pop before beginning to return to his seat.
_____________________________________
Cross Recoba comes back up to start his next award, but Caffrey is actually returning to the podium. He gestures for Recoba to let him have a few more moments of time.
Caffrey: Iām sorry, Iām gonna get in trouble with the Network and fined out the ass for what Iām about to say, but I think the fans want to see one more war, one more tag team match as the division blooms again across the Network. And Radu and I need a match for Fuel for the Fire on March 25thā¦ granted, even he doesnāt know what Iām about to say because Iāve mentioned this to no oneā¦
Caffrey moves away from the microphone to say āsorryā to his partner.
Caffrey:: ...there is a man in this room right now who is scared of me right now. There is a man in this room who has ducked and dodged FIRESIDE for five months now, fighting in every company while my wrestlers had to break their bodies and work their asses off for a sliver of the spotlight. There is a man in this room who, privately, has been doing MY bit forā¦ hang onā¦.
Caffrey whips out his phone.
Caffrey: ...Google, how many days ago was August 30th?
As Caffrey leans his Pixel into the microphone, the crowd starts to buzz.
Pixel: 149 days.
The showman lets the electricity in the room to build.
Caffrey: Heās been doing MY bit for 149 days. There is a man in this room who is holding my championship, ducking my company, ducking my wrestlers, and ducking me, despite the fact that for two and a half years, he has never beaten me. As each and every time we have fought, I have made our X-Crown champion, Dylan Black, my BITCH.
The XHF Tag Team Champion pauses to let the crowd let off a loud āOOOOOOHā. He keeps the focus on him.
Caffrey: So Mr. Blackā¦ hereās the challengeā¦ courtesy of the Purple Emperorsā¦ you grab your world champion partner from that podunk, trash can-ass company heās fromā¦ you get your asses together and file the fucking paperworkā¦ and we have one more war for the fans: the Purple Emperors vs. Los Reyes De La Lucha for the XHF Tag Team Championships.
The crowd roars at the challenge from the FIRESIDE owner.
Caffrey: Hear that? The people wanna see it, Mr. Black. Weāll be waiting.
Caffrey adjusts his tie as the electric crowd sees him off with a boost of cheers. He raises a hand to wave at them before flipping a finger at the X-Crown champion and returning to his seat.

Cross walks back onstage with noticeably shorter hair. He brushes what we assume to be rogue off-cuttings from a haircut from the shoulders of his suit jacket. Recoba: What do you say? Would Los Reyes de la Lucha like to respond? The camera cuts to Dylan Black and El Combatiente who are discussing something. They both throw a dismissive hand towards the stage. Recoba: Well, that settles that for now. That was the Purple Helme- Cross stops in his tracks. The camera shows Mongo at the side of the stage, a stern shake of the head killing Cross' sentence dead. Recoba: Thank you, Radu for keeping it short. Thank you to the guy who had a betting market open on how long it took for Caffrey to take an advert out in his own speech for FIRESIDE and lastly, thanks to Caffrey himself for teaching every child watching what a fillibuster looks like. Cross smiles towards Caffrey. Recoba: Anyways, with that we move onto our last award before a short break for an announcement. Recoba: Many a wrestler's career has been by being part of a stable. Would Ryan Young have risen to the heights he did without LGBTKO? What would Hype's 2020 have looked like if he wasn't a part of Legion? They can be made up of people with the same ideals, the same talent, or the same end goal but they unify a portion of a roster within or against them. We've seen many a group in the Network's history and seen fortunes rise and fall over that time. So, who topped the ballot sheet from your votes this year? {AND THE WINNERS ARE...} 2nd: Sky Force 3rd: Kross Global Bandits Recoba: I'm going to grab another beer, let me know when you've decontaminated the stage.
