Lawful Evil: A Quiet Moment with Jim

[Mongo the Destroyer]

*We open up in the police station as Lord Dominicus sits at a desk doing pretty much nothing because he doesn’t actually work there but is still around in case his consultation is needed (which it probably isn’t). He looks over to another desk where Detective Jim sits, probably typing up a report.*

LD: Hey Jim

*Jim looks up from his typing at the DARK LORD OF NPW.*

Jim: Yeah, what do you want?

LD: Does it bother you that I stole your partner?

*The former (well, officially probably still current) partner of Detective Beckett stops what he’s doing and takes a few moments to honestly think.*

Jim: I dunno. I guess it really doesn’t feel like it. I mean, sure, we’re spending less time together; but we’re still working on the same case. Well, same cases. You know we do more than just the Holiday Horror case, right?

*Rather than answer that, Lord Dominicus chooses to wax on his own feelings.*

LD: I know if it was me, and somebody or something got in between Eron Hunter and I, I’d be really upset.

Jim: Who?

LD: Lynx?

Jim: Who?

LD: Jaguar?

Jim: Who?

LD: Do you really not know who I’m talking about?

Jim: Uh, yeah, that’s what I asked the first time.

*Lord Dominicus leans back in his chair and rolls his head around while letting out a prolonged “UUUUGGGGGHHHHHH,” regretting his decision not to hang out with Officer Tom more instead. Finally he sits up and starts to explain.*

LD: Eron….or any of those other names is…..well….

*He DominiThinks*

LD: He’s like my not-exactly-henchman.

Jim: Your what?

LD: Ok, ok. So every TRUE BEING OF UNQUESTIONABLE EVIL generally has one if not more underlings to do their bidding. Often they are as colorful of characters- if not more- than their masters. Eron, especially now that he is masked twice-over, fits that bill really well…

Jim: …Except?

LD: Except that he’s never acknowledged himself as a henchmen- nor shown any interest in being referred to one- and I’d argue he’s almost on equal standing with me in terms of usefulness in our matches.

Jim: So he’s your partner?

LD: I mean, officially in our next match he is. And the last match we teamed up as well. I don’t know, this is very complicated. A DARK LORD and a not-henchman? Something seems weird, right? I mean, what even keeps you and Detective Beckett together?

Jim: Oh, Theresa and I? Well before you ask, there’s nothing going on between us. But both of us joined the force for the same reason. While we were growing up, we could see the victims around us. People who were hurt by those who’d have power over them or would seek to take something from them.

LD: Bullies and thugs

Jim: Yeah, exactly

LD: Like the ReVenants

Jim: Who?

*Oh no, not again. Dominicus waves it off rather than be forced to explain*

LD: Nevermind, go on.

Jim: Both Theresa and I decided that we wouldn’t stand to see those who’d fallen and those who would fall to get trampled on without justice being done. So we went through the academy, and busted asses on street, earning our way up. Doing our best to fight for the fallen and the voiceless. Bringing justice where it was- and is needed.

LD: And once you have achieved your goal, you shall sit upon a throne of your enemy’s- these criminals- bodies and reign as EVIL KINGS?

Jim: Haha, I wish. But it never ends. Once you knock down one scumbag, another one shows up. Sometimes it’s like a hydra, you cut off one head and you find a whole ring of criminals hiding in the neck.

LD: Huh, I guess wrestling is a lot like police work then

Jim: Yeah? I might have to catch a show sometime then.

*He tries to return to his work, but Lord Dominicus really doesn’t have anything better to do than to talk*

LD: …So you’re not jealous then?

Jim: No, not at all

LD: I promise I’ll give her back after the case is resolved

*Detective Jim lifts his fingers off of the keyboard and makes a confused/perturbed face*

Jim: Yeah, uh, not your property- or anyone’s

LD: Indeed.

*He nods.*

LD: You have given me much to consider this day

Jim: Great. Look, I gotta get this report done. Why don’t you go play with the dogs or prepare for your whatever

LD: Hmmmmmmmm

*Dominicus has opted to DominiThink even harder on these things as the camera fades.*
