I got inspired by the discord server and talking about the beatles and stuff that i thought, who does everyone consider to be the best bands ever? First i think i should set some rules and clarifications though before we start.
What makes a band? A band at least to me is a group of people that are two or more (and yes that can be done). They can't be called just justin timberlake or something like that, that's a solo act with an accompanying band/musicians. Now if it's something like Tom Petty and the heartbreakers or the jimi hendrix experience that's ok. But no musicians or artists who are solo acts, those are not bands. I'd also suggest not having just one artist in more then one spot. I mean if you want to say the beatles and paul mccartney and the wings or the plastic ono band, but i think it'd be best to use one of the two and not both.
With all that out of the way what are y'all's top 10 bands of all time ever!?!?!??!

What genre? That'll influence who I asy is in the top 10 doesn't matter to me as long as it's a band. can be country, rock, rap, metal dubsteb what ever you like as long as they are a band.

My Top 10 Bands of all time are as follows:
1. The Beatles: I put them at number one because lets face it, what other band has been more successful and more influential then the Fab Four? I'm pretty sure no one! They created things most couldn't even conceive especially back in the 60's. They went from a more pop rock, boy bandish tune with please please me to one of the first hard rock/metal songs in helter skelter to a song about a serial killer in Maxwell's Silver Hammer. They stayed relevant through out the decades and created a sensation no one has known and likely never will know again.
2. X AKA X Japan: X or X Japan as they are now known might not be well known among you guys and gals, but if you ever heard them you'd understand why i put them on such a high pedestal. Starting out in 1982 and having a fall out by 1997 eventually getting back together in 2007 and continuing to create new songs and tour till this day, X Japan became the innovators and one of the first, if not THE first Visual Kei bands. It was a movement that started in Japan and spread through out the decades. These men created songs that touched many people and that hold up even to today. They can have very fast paced speed metal types of songs like Stab Me in the back and go to a ballad or sad song like Tears or Crucify My Love. They created a movement and many say if they were english or american they would be the best band of all time. Yoshiki, the leader and drummer of this band is possibly one of if not the best drummers i've heard. Taiji is an incredible bassist and Hide plays the guitar with ease. These guys rock and deserve a number two spot!
3. Boris: Another band likely very few if not anyone at all have heard of. They're a three piece that's been jamming out since 1992 and has been going strong ever since. They don't stay tied down to one true genre as they change it up all the time really. To put it in simple terms though, they are a very experimental and psychedelic band. They continue to change and innovate. Their music is top notch and they can shred like no one can and with only three members they are highly impressive.
4. The Jimi Hendrix Experience: Only around for three years Jimi Hendrix and Co. made music like no one else in that time. Including The Beatles. I have them at number 4 because they were only around for such a little time. But Jimi and his experience influenced many people in that short time as well.
5. Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass Boys: By the name of the band i'm sure you can tell what they play. if you can't you don't now Bluegrass i guess, These guys started out in 1938 and were active until 1996. They were one of if not the most influential bluegrass bands of all time really and they've done a whole lot throughout the years.
6. Lynyrd Skynyrd: When you think of Southern Rock you think of these guys. They were perfectionists and created the redneck national anthem AKA Freebird among many other great songs like The ballad of Curtis Lowe, Tuesday's Gone, Sweet Home Alabama and many others.
7. Led Zeppelin: a very great band from 198-1980 and going on tours at times even today. If you don't know who they are you need to fix that grave mistake ASAP!
8. Ramones: Oddly enough none of them were related by blood, one of the first punk rock bands and that band that sings that one song everyone knows, they've done allot in music.
9. Zac Brown Band: A country band that's been going strong for 18 years now they've made many hits. Plus i really like them so screw it they're going on my list!
10. SCANDAL: No not Patty Smyth's Scandal, the japanese all girl rock band. They've been going strong for 12 years in august and continue to grow and change through out the years. I really love them and there isn't a song of there's that i hate or even don't like.

Oh man, I love my favorite bands. Now, I'll be the first to note that I don't have a lot of variety in the music I listen to. Usually if I'd find a good band I'd just focus in for a while. Also, I haven't gotten any new albums since like 2009, so assume my opinions come pre-2010. Anyway, my list! 1. Electric Light Orchestra: There's no beating these guys, I've come back to them every time. I love ELO but you guys know that. They cover multiple styles through their run, have a couple concept albums, and cram a violin into rock and roll with awesome results 2. Jet: I've never gotten tired of listening to this short-lived band. I don't think many people followed them after their first album (and only real hit, "Are You Gonna be my Girl"). They're the sound/speed that perfectly fits my ears and I can pick them up and listen any time. The only reason why ELO outranks them is because there's a distinct lack of variety, due to only having 3 albums. 3. The Beatles: My first love. The Beatles turned me from country to rock and roll and I've never looked back. The reason they don't place in the top two is because just like the Beatles themselves, I moved on to their solo careers; which brings me to.... 4. ....Wings. I know Kira recommended not doing this but Wings is as good as Beatles- objectively (if you like that sound). Wings is also a little look into what the Beatles would have been if only Paul had a strong personality and wasn't clashing with John all the time. If you like rock (not hard rock, mind you, lol) check out Wings; every album is great. 5. The Killers: Since I've found Jesus these guys have fallen quite a bit, lol. Originally they were one of my "four new bands that could save rock and roll." I think you can pick up most of their albums and have a good time (though I have no idea about their newer stuff) 6. Green Day: I still contend that their early work is very up and down; but I get such enjoyment out of "American Idot" and "21st Century Breakdown" (the albums) that they've earned high marks. 7. The Presidents of the United States of America: Their rating comes from the only album of theirs I have, their first. But it's so darn good, right? I mean, right? 8. The Bloodhound Gang: Even post-Christ these guys have stayed on the list. You know, they just bring a smile on your face. Funny but true story: one day I was blasting my music through the house and "A Lap Dance is So Much Better When the Stripper is Crying" came on and my grandma commented she liked that song. I was like, "Are you sure, THIS song?" She insisted yes, but couldn't explain why. Old people say the darnedest things I guess. 9. The Offspring: Talk about a consistent band! The Offspring is like Jet where they're hitting the speed I love but they only have like one song right? You know, that one song that lasts 3 hours and was cut up to make all their albums/singles 10. No Doubt: We forget about these guys, but their hits were hits yo. Then Gwen Stephani went BA-NA-NA-S. But when they were good, they were real good.
