I’d say it’s a start, but I’d hope that you can take some thought to what’s being shared in this thread. It isn’t an attack duke thing. I understand if now is a bad time,’I’d strongly encourage you to understand or try to understand what’s being mentioned so there isn’t a repeat.

My characters are exactly that characters, each one is meant to be different yes I have a couple that is closer to me than others that I put way more of my real-life self into. But for the most part I love to efed and I love creating characters and I run them for a while and if they work great and if they don't then they fade away. But I have had success with Akoni without a single complaint until the XHF. and look at from within my eyes and see if you wouldn't think it wasn't a personal attack or a personal thing towards you.
I always think about what everyone says no matter if I agree or disagree with what's being said I think about what is being said and I try to figure something out of it.

it's not a race thing though. at least not what i'm getting at from what i've read from others. it just seems your taking it that way. i mean... that play a part in the ganja connection thing, but it's not the main focus or anything. at least that's what i feel/see.

I might also recommend changing their name maybe to just "The Connection" so it's a little less on the nose, lol
But I wanted to write more in-depth about it. Bobby and I had been talking about Duke's creative process last night and it got me thinking more and then I think I'm really starting to understand it- correct me at any point Duke if I'm way off mark here.
Duke has participated in a lot of global events, so I've had a lot of opportunities to read his stuff (read two rps on the subway today in fact, lol) and I've noticed a trend in how he develops characters.
Usually Duke will grab a current topic that's a hot issue or a trend and develop it into a character- duh we can see that. But there's more too it than simply him making caricatures of the issues, though on first glance that often looks. Duke lives through his characters, so if he doesn't understand a viewpoint or wants more information on a subject, he makes a character and tries to put himself into their shoes.
A great example happened last year. For those who weren't here, Duke and the Filth Factory got into it pretty bad- it was not a good introduction to the group and people were upset with RSW about the whole thing. But both sides were reasonable and wanted to work it out in matches. When Duke started working with FF I noticed a marked change in in-character Duke's...character. He was suddenly darker, there were more offensive elements thrown in, and more violence and sexual content etc. Duke ooc had originally opposed those things, but used his character to try it- and you can still see elements of that time in his most recent rps. After their battles, Duke and FF worked together and that's why he went to AIW with his main guy.
The Convicts- specifically Eric Chronister are another good example. Prison shows are hot. Prison Break had an extra season, there's Orange is the New Black and an Australian show with a similar concept, the Wire, etc. So Duke made an ex-con character. And similar to the Shawshank Redemption; he gave Chronic an older mentor, Homie. While playing the role of Chronic he had to research about prison life, so he could use the lingo. And you could see it in the rps, as he'd string in prison-based concepts into the rps because he was preparing for roleplaying. It was like a motivation to learn more about somebody who's life he'll never understand.
The Ganja Connection sprouted out of that style, because originally it was just Kofi's character. When Duke first asked me about the character (before trying it at an off-board fed because I was not keen on the first-look) Kofi was finally starting to get his big push and weed legalization was in the news quite a bit. Duke probably doesn't toke and wanted to get a feel for that lifestyle and understand that mindset without actually lighting up
The wrestling chef? One of Duke's primary jobs at home is cooking for his family and managing his own restrictive diet. He'll never be a famous chef probably; but what if he was? Bam, make a character and live that life
A lot of folks didn't like his Ginger Supremacist character, but it was a topical commentary. If you read those rps it makes any form of supremacy/segregation mindset look silly and stupid- because being bigoted is.
Does this process always work? No, I'd say Harry Nutter and the incest guy were probably unwise creations. Is it a hamfisted way to go about it? Sure. But from the perspective of wrestling in the 80's and 90's when Duke was younger- that's what was on TV- heck not even just wrestling. Plus it's how Duke does it, he goes all in. Even his self-insertion character of Danny Ray is over-emotional to the point where it's his primary weakness- so even when doing introspection Duke is using this same approach.
First impressions are hard, and as much as a lot of us deny it- we generally look skin deep and make our decisions. Duke makes characters that sort of embody that. It's a different ideology and a different way to go about stuff- but we all have a different creative process.
Having said that- yeah, making one of the guys white and maybe changing the group name/catchphrase might be a good idea because the first look might give the wrong impression.

I'm a white male, so I'm not the be all end all expert in this, and this is by no means trying to dress you down Duke, just trying to explain this as logically as possible.
Using the phrase "Ganja lives matters" was another part of the issue. The "{Insert Noun} lives matter" has been a hot button issue with a lot of people. And since you are a white male applying a parody of the phrase to a black team, it reads as insensitive. These guys are black, why wouldn't they just say "black lives matter?" If your team was weed dealing cops, you would probably get "blue lives matter" people upset at you. Or weed dealing conservatives, you would get "all lives matter" people mad at you. It's just a touchy catch phrase to parody. I understand you want a cool catchphrase that's instantly noticeable, but if it's something that's going to upset a reader, then you should think twice. And if you didn't realize it would upset a reader, that's okay, but be willing to listen to why and consider changing it accordingly. There's plenty of other cool catchphrases you can use, and I'd be happy to brainstorm with you if you need.
Also, I hope your daughter is doing better, ERs sucks.
