It would be my pleasure to wrap this up....
So I wanted to first thank everyone who participated- and Drag and the radio chat for suggesting this even though I absolutely wanted to avoid this much talk on the board. It seems to have been effective.
I'm in a good position in that I'm not going to have to make some sort of fancy proclamations; because change is already upon us. The complaints regarding the discord have been listened to and in response the rules are more clearly stated and there is now a trial punishment system that has been added. You can see all of this in the #welcome section. Even so, the discord admins shouldn't have to police the discord. We're almost all adults and should be able to handle ourselves as such- and if we can't then don't be surprised about losing privileges on the discard. Being "a man" and being "the bigger man" are very different things most times. You wanna be the bigger man- or woman- or dolphin (Bobby), as it were.
Two of the admins have unfortunately left discord for now; this means that the discord administration will be looking for replacements in the future. Goldy (Dust) will remain in charge- and I think his response to all this has been better than I would of expected.
In fact, this whole ordeal has brought Goldy and I closer together than we ever were in XHF- and he was an admin then. That is terrible and is certainly a bannable offense; so I guess the discord is closed since you're all banned, jerks
...What? We can't ban everyone? Ok, ok. I guess you guys are off the hook for now. FOR NOW
The overwhelming response for the "official" discord is about what I had expected, so no worries bros, it'll be deleted.
The Ganja Connection issue was brought up and I think it's a good reminder to us all about what we post and how we act on the board. Although our meanings and our intentions may be different; what new people see is the first glance- and we should always consider how an outsider is gonna look at those kinds of things. Duke himself has said that he'll make some changes to improve that first glance- but I do advise looking more than skin deep on characters/members. If you don't learn about a person but make a judgement it's pretty much the same actions of a bigot judging some group they don't like.
We're all human, and we make mistakes. Some members of our family make mistakes frequently, and hilariously. But in the end we're all a family, and this post is a great reminder that we're all working towards the same goal: enjoying this hang-out, pretending we're wrestlers, and helping others to join the family. But I did want to add, the door swings both ways for respect, and I think sometimes we forget that tone doesn't always translate online. Just remember to be courteous when dealing with your brothers and sisters. Also, respect the chain of command a bit; it'll help manage issues better (even if not the way you had hoped).
Thank you again everyone for your feedback, with minimal swears and insults. It's hard to sit down and hash stuff out when blood runs hot and that's probably why doing it on the board was better- again, thanks to Drag and the radio chat folks for pushing that and honestly the timing of Caff and Rob fighting for causing that to happen. Let's hope we don't need to do it again though, right?
We've got EoD guys, GET ROLEPLAYING OR WRITING OR WHATEVER! *Cracks whip*
Let's get oiled up and touch each other! Yeah for fake sport fan fiction!
Rock on, guys!
