Some of the guys on Discord know, but I love Pokemon. Like, I'm obsessive about it- Scorps is too, and we'll talk about him in a bit.
So I like having a purpose when I play, otherwise I end up with the same teams. I hate nuzelock's concept because it abandons weak pokemon so I came up with a better challenge. I present to you Pokemon: The Incredible Journey! The goal of this challenge is to test your Pokemon skills and the notion that any Pokemon can be a good friend/helper. So I am gonna try to go through all of the main line games; including the variants. So like Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, Crystal etc etc etc. On top of that I'm including the remakes too. So I'll be going to some of these places up to like 5 times and trying to make teams work with them. That becomes extra challenging later on and requires me to pre-plan a little as I go BECAUSE I'm only using each Pokemon once. My rival(at least the male one) will always be Scorps, because he both antagonizes me but also pushes me to play more Pokemon and inspires me to do my best. A good rival indeed.
This is especially hard for Kanto, the generation 1 country. So I'm trying to use Pokemon in Kanto that suck more in later generations after the fixing of stats in gen 3. Either way, it's hard as heck but not too hard where you want to quit and not so cold-blooded that you question your humanity.
I just finished Pokemon Red and I thought I'd share my team before jumping onto Blue. So here they are.....
So that's my first team for this adventure. Yes, I've named them after presidents- the first 6 to be specific. I'll continue this trend with male pokemon until I run out of presidents. Luckily I don't have to think of females for a while still. I'll try to keep you updated as I beat the games and if you have any questions, just post them here and I'll try to answer them!
Rock on Pokemon fans! (Except Scorps- Smell ya later!)

1. George Washington
As a rule I don't really like Bulbasaurs and Charmander gets a move in later generations that I think will help vs Brock so I decided to start with this guy. Washington managed though to be, like his namesake, a stalwart team leader who could always be counted on even against difficult odds. He held his own against Brock and managed to cut his way through a lot of pokemon that actually had a type advantage. Good mon.
2. John Adams
The "Fighting Federalist" was an impulse pick-up in Mt. Moon. But wow, this guy rocked my world. I put mega punch on him and even though attack isn't what Clefables are known for he managed to literally beat everything into submission with his fists. My plan had been to go after Misty with Washington but no, Adams wanted to crush her spirit with punching- and he did, ruthlessly. Throughout the adventure Adams solved every problem with his fists, sometimes taunting his opponents with a few random metronome moves before laying the smackdown on everything. Also used strength later- but I'm still imagining it was a form of beating.
3. Thomas Jefferson
A strong proponent of equal rights to all, Jefferson was an elder statesman in every way and tried to not waste a movement. He became known for his special combination of hypnotically speaking of rights and freedoms and then sucked the souls out of his sleeping opponents. I'm pretty sure that's what his namesake was known for too so that worked out really well. I honestly feel like he leveled up crazy fast so I don't feel like he got a lot of time in battle compared to some of the other guys. But when he was in, you knew something's brain was getting melted.
4. James Madison
Picking a hitmonchan in Generation 1 was a mistake. His best attribute is having thunder, ice, and fire punch. But those count as special moves in Gen 1 and his special rating was craaaaaaap, lol. Even how Madison held his own against a surprising number opponents and punched every one of them in the face- because all of his moves were punches.
5. James Monroe
Scorps (the real one), recommended I give goldeen a try. Any pokemon fan knows that goldeen is a terrible pokemon. But as it turns out, Gen 1 was kind to the goldfish and it's evolved form, seaking is actually kind of a tank. Almost all of Lance's dragons (all around level 60) fell to Monroe's ice beam. It was weird because I had feared Monroe would need a lot of bailing out, but he ended up being a good emergency go to with his surf and whatnot. But it was hilarious listening to other trainers talk about how cool my surfing mon was when I was literally being dragged in the waves by a fat goldfish.
6. John Quincy Adams
Another one of Scorp's recommendations. Many people suggest that JQ might be Adams' son. Other's point out that John Adams is a cute ball of fluff that happened to hit hard, while JQ Adams is a literal dinosaur resurrected from amber like in that Unova movie, Jurassic Park. The skeptics then would go on to suggest that having a winged death-o-saurus is probably some sort of violation of health and safety laws. JQ was unable to comment on this as he was too busy diveboming down on everything he saw via fly.
