Hey everyone!
Man alive, time flies when you’re rping and match writing and show running, right? Already Supremacy is right around the corner again and we’ve had a whirlwind year!
I wanted to pop in here and discuss some changes that’ll be happening in 2023 and also give a not-so-brief FAQ because we’ve gotten a fair few newer people over the last couple years and I don’t know if our on-boarding is the most comprehensive.
First off, changes for 2023:
The most stand-out thing that you guys will notice is that we’re going to move into post-pandemic mode. In 2020 we started ramping up production with extra shows like Call to Arms and other pop-up events. This was due to an uptick in activity since everyone was trapped inside their homes and so more content was needed.
But now most people are far more active again and there isn’t a need for extra “official” events. They put a lot of strain on the Network Admins (and the writers who help them) as well as distract rpers away from their home feds. So we’re going to cut back down to the base 4 major events: Supremacy (with Battle for Hegemony) in January, The Rumble in April, Night of Champions (with Overheated) in July, and End of Days (with its tournament episodes) in October. For more information on them keep reading.
Beyond that I think (though can’t guarantee for later in the year) that the pendulum is swinging back towards a more vanilla feel. That means maybe we’ll be pushing the “Hardcore” part of XHF a little less strongly this year. What does that mean for you? Mostly off the top of my head it means that the End of Days tournament will likely be normal singles matches again. That said, it is subject to change since the show is DT’s baby and he’s got a good eye for what people are looking for at various times.
Also, we currently don’t have a writer for the Rumble. If you’d like to take on that monster and join the list of legendary writers let us know!
That’s uh…about it? Just a little more slimmed down as we enter into the new year. 2022 was a good year and I’m excited about all that we can produce in 2023!
If you’re an old school XHF guy you can probably stop reading now, but for those who count themselves as newer, by all means keep reading…
Frequently Asked Questions/Frequently Made Comments!
For those who have joined our insanity over the last couple of years I thought I’d give a brief rundown of things to help you better acclimate to the XHF Network and ease you into our hot tub of violence. Let’s just jump right in! **Note, answers are as of January 1st 2023**
“What is the XHF Network?”
The XHF Network is a conglomerate of efeds in a shared world. Think of it like the NWA of yore or a large company with many different heads like Samsung. The XHF Network is the binding force between the companies and offers large events to tie them together. Within the XHF Network are a variety of efeds- rp feds, angle feds, video game feds, we’ve done dice before, there’s a fed that doesn’t even have wrestling! They all have their own style and feel and their own staff because they are independent companies (again, like the old school NWA).
“Ok, well then what is the XHF?”
Great question, let me give you a little history lesson on the three greatest letters in efedding!
The Xtreme Hardcore Federation was an efed that existed in some form or another from 2001-2009.
2001- The XHF proper was formed but only lasted as a company for a couple shows- at which point I took over and used it as a stable that would invade other feds (look, invasions were cool at the time and everyone was looking for invaders).
2002-2008- The XHF took over the BDDWF when the owner OOC left and we decided to make things interesting. From there the XHF ran as a full-fledged fed for 7ish years. We had two shows a week over that time and you’re welcome to peruse the archives (though some shows have been lost).
Also 2008- After the XHF proper closed, we tried a spin-off that would lay the foundations for the XHF Network in the future. With two trial feds we attempted to build a Network. It failed but we learned a lot.
2009- The reunion tour! The XHF returned as a full fed for an intentionally limited run, the plan was to run more seasons like this but I disappeared in 2010 never to be seen again!
2017-Now- The XHF Network! After a long hiatus the XHF returned with a new Network model that has proven to be successful.
Yes, you’re in a place called “The Xtreme Hardcore Federation”- 1. I didn’t name it, but 2. At the time Xtreme was really popular and the name had been a hit. Anyway most of us just use “XHF” these days.
“Who is in charge around here?”
The feds themselves are run by their own staff. The XHF Network staff is divided between the board and the discord (which we’ll talk about later). The XHF Network Admins are…
Mongo the Destroyer (Owner)
Primary Nickname: Mongo
Secondary Nicknames: N/A
-I’m a tyrant, but my door is always open.
Dave D-Flipz (Nice-Guy Admin)
Primary Nickname: DT
Secondary Nicknames: Dave
-DT is an old XHF admin who’s passion for the XHF shines bright. He’s social and friendly so if you’re finding one of the other admins is a bit too prickly about something, DT is the guy to go to. He runs End of Days (including the tournament).
Dylan (Next-Gen Admin)
Primary Nickname: Dylan
Secondary Nicknames: N/A
-Dylan is the first member to achieve admin status without ever having been in the original XHF. He represents the new era, though shares many similarities to the other, older, XHF members. He runs Supremacy (and Battle for Hegemony).
Jesse Jamester (Passionate Admin)
Primary Nickname: JJ
Secondary Nicknames: Jesse, Murder Lizard
-JJ has a great passion for wrestling and efedding. He, like DT, is one of the most approachable members of the staff and is always willing to lend a hand with something. He’s pitched some changes that we may be making this year as he has fresher eyes on the product than some of us longer-term guys have.
Venom 🕷 (Angry Old Man Admin)
Primary Nickname: Scorps
Secondary Nicknames: Venom
-Scorps is an old XHF admin who’s come back to administrative duties recently. He’s known for frankness and seriousness; but Scorps is very passionate about the XHF Network even if he pretends he isn’t.
Curtis D. Kanyon (Head of Security Admin)
Primary Nickname: Randy
Secondary Nicknames: Kanyon, K-Dawg, Curtis, Sexy
-Kanyon is another XHF admin who’s been providing administrative duties here. As one of the cooler-headed people on our team he generally is the one who wields the ban-hammer and in general manages the security end of things. He’s super approachable and very friendly- too friendly.
“The board is really complicated.”
The board can absolutely be overwhelming the first time. For one, it’s big, real big; and each section within each subforum is big too. That said this is about as straightforward as we can make it. Each major section is clearly labled to help you find your way around.
The “Central Hub” operates as the major OOC section/message board. There are discussion and game forums as well as a lot of information available that you can learn more about us from.
The “XHF Network Global” section is where you can find things relating to the overall XHF Network. That is to say its where you can find information about global shows, where you can rp for global shows (or CD meant for everyone to read), where you can apply to start your own fed, and where we keep the global tag division information.
“XHF Network Feds” is probably where you’ll go first though. This is where the XHF Network efeds are, each one gets their own little slice of the Network and once you click on their banner you’ll see their fed setup. The order is determined by when the fed started (but the fed holding the X*Crown gets the top stop). There are a lot of feds but I’ll quickly give you a rundown of the currently operating feds (as of January 1 2023):
-JROK- Angle fed based in Japan
-GUNS- Satirical angle fed, you write your own matches/segments
-Ultimate Wrestling- The last linked-in fed, an off-board rp fed in another universe
-CAR- Rp-based car-racing company, think more Wacky Races than NASCAR
-SCCW- A video game fed run on FirePro with custom commentary
-TAPOUT- An rp fed that leans towards prize fighting while still maintaining the pro wrestling flair
-W:UK- A European rp fed that works closely with its members based on feedback
-HKW- An rp fed that is less hardcore than you’d expect but very whimsical to make up for it
-ROF- A mini-Network of angle feds, it’s just getting started but should prove to be a fun time
“Can I start my own fed?”
Yes you can! All you need to do is fill out the application form and chances are we’ll approve it. For real, the bar to get a fed is really low because we believe in giving everyone a chance. If your idea seems really out there though and you’re worried about it being rejected, by all means run it past me first. That said, we have a fed that’s car racing so I doubt you can come up with something too out there, lol.
“Why would I start my own fed on the Network and not on my own?”
I can’t prove it, but I think your fed has a better chance on the Network. That’s not to say there’s any guarantee it’ll succeed or even get past the creation stage, but the Network offers an existing pool of members and administrative help that can give you a slight edge over starting your own board/site off-Network. All that said we do recommend you advertise your fed to try to get new members as well as any that join from the current Network pool.
“Would my fed have to be on the board?”
Yes. We have tried having linked feds in the past but the results have always been unprofitable for either side. One of the key selling points of the Network is the cross-pollination and that just doesn’t happen when you’re completely separate from it. That can be a bit of an issue if you’d like your fed to be a part of the Network but your fed is already established- however we insist you move here if that’s the case.
“So is there just a board, no site?”
Yes. The boards are confusing enough and sites are a pain in the butt to maintain.
“The chatbox isn’t super active, where do people hang out?”
Great question! The XHF Network has a Discord. Long considered to be the “bar across the street” the XHF Network Discord is our hangout, though has its own rules and staff. We don’t like problems developing so we ask that as you participate you do so in a friendly and egalitarian manner. Just slide into a conversation, no need to introduce yourself if you’re not into that sort of thing- feel free to just jump in and start chatting. The administrative staff of the discord (as of Jan 1 2023) are….
DustHimself
Nicknames: Goldy, Dust
-Goldy operates as the master of ceremonies for the discord. He used to start the XHF’s AIM chats every night back in the 2000’s and has continued that role by building the discord for us. He talks tough around me but is very sociable and approachable.
GrifKane
Nicknames: Spike
-Spike is an old hand in efedding and has a lot of experience around the efedding world. He is only a dm away. I have found that when there are miscommunications, he is very easy to talk to in private and sort things out.
Adudefromcle
Nicknames: Price, PRICE
-Price often comes off as tough and abrasive and you may not think he’s being friendly- wrong, that’s how Price is friendly. He loves fedding and really loves hanging out with the guys. He talks a tough game about me but he is passionate about the XHF being the best it can be.
Vastrix
Nicknames: Vastrix, Vasty, Allen
-Vasty is a former Network admin and he has been fedding since time began. Fedding is his anti-drug and he prioritizes it above a whole host of other things. He’s very knowledgeable and open to new ideas.
br4indead
Nicknames: Harry, Dan, Jerkass
-I don’t know why he’s an admin on the discord because he does squat. Feel free to tag him and call him a jerk, it’ll remind him that he’s loved and cared about by us. Jokes aside, Harry is the original “Mr. XHF” having won everything over the XHF’s initial run. For real though, don’t go to him for discord issues, it’s a legacy staff position.
Beyond that Me (Mongo), Dylan, JJ, and Kanyon are all admins on the discord as well. Though don’t assume I have as much power there as I do on the boards, lol. The discord admins are…different in style than the board admins, but they all want the best for the XHF and to make the discord a place where people can hang out and feel welcomed.
“Do I need to participate in Network-wide events and hang out in the chats?”
No, that’s not a requirement. You can chill in the fed you’re in and enjoy what they do. That said you’ll be cutting yourself out from a lot of fun and socializing. One of the best parts of the Network is the community atmosphere, so if you actively isolate yourself don’t be surprised if your experience isn’t the one that’s advertised.
“You mentioned in the opening the major shows, could you go over that?”
The Network, as a connecting unit between a universe of feds holds quarterly events. Each one compliments its counterpart 6 months away but all of them have their unique flavors. All of the global ppvs are scheduled for the last Sunday of their given month.
January
PPV: Supremacy
Pre-Show: Battle for Hegemony
-Supremacy focuses on interfed matches. While the PPV highlights the global titles, members are allowed to make grudge matches with each other- the caveat is that they also need to find writers and judges for their matches (and turn them in on time!). Battle for Hegemony is the pre-show two weeks earlier and is used to determine who will be in the main event of Supremacy.
April
PPV: The Rumble
Pre-Show: N/A
-I mean it’s right there in the title, yeah? The Rumble is a giant royal rumble-style match with no upper limit on entrants. It’s big, it’s tough, but it is also for the X*Crown Championship (more on that later) so it also offers a quick shot at the top title without having to jump through several hoops. The show also features the other global titles in separate matches.
July
PPV: Night of Champions
Pre-Show: Overheated
-NoC is our season-ender; the Superbowl of the XHF. The card is filled with world title matches from across the Network. Feud and lower title matches are welcomed at Overheated (as well as main event qualifying matches)- assuming you or your fed are writing them. July is the birthday month for the XHF and during the month some of the feds also have special shows to commemorate the celebratory atmosphere.
October (and often some of September)
PPV: End of Days
Pre-Shows: The End of Days Tournament
-End of Days is a cross-promotional tournament that acts as our season-opener. The winner of the tournament goes on to get a rare 1-on-1 shot at the X*Crown at the PPV. The tournament shows run weekly and can be hosted by feds that want to be involved (along with their normal cards). It’s a grueling tournament but if you can rise to the top you’ll obviously be considered a legend for making it through.
“Are there other cross-promotional events?”
Yes! Members are allowed to run large events themselves if they’d like and feel like they can handle it. You can see in our Global Events section shows like Oh Violent Night and Xtraction as well as a fair few others. If you’d like to give a show like that a try, go ahead- just know that the pressure is on you to deliver the results!
“Could you give a run-down of the major XHF Network titles?”
There are a ton of titles in the XHF Network since there are many feds. However on the global level there are currently only three.
The X*Crown
-The X*Crown is the pinnacle of the XHF Network. It is a title made of over 20 world titles (from dead feds) that has a history spanning 20 years. The fed where the champ resides is moved to the top of the list and they have booking rights over the title until the next global event (assuming that their champ is a member of their fed). It is hard to get a shot at and the rules are purposely difficult for global shows, this is only for guys who can go hard.
The XHF Tag-Team Championships
-The Tag belts are defended on a by-challenge basis. To make a challenge you need to globally register your team, earn 5 points, AND have at least one win against another team. This makes the defense schedule a little erratic but to be the top team in the XHF Network is worth it.
The XHF Junior Heavyweight Championship
-Are you 220lbs or lower? If you are then you qualify to compete for the JH title. The JH Championship tours the Network fed-by-fed on a preset schedule. If you are champ you’ll be defending monthly in sometimes unfamiliar territory; but it’s a good stepping stone to future glory (like the X*Crown).
There are other XHF titles scattered around in some of the feds, however they are treated as local-level titles except for appearances at the major global PPVs. If your fed is somewhat established and you’d like the prestige of an XHF title you are able to request one getting taken out of mothballs or a new XHF title being created. I can’t guarantee your request will be granted, but even if it isn’t we’ll often give you some criteria to meet in the future for the opportunity.
“I’m hearing a lot of jargon; can you clarify some need-to-know terms that are getting tossed around?”
I forget sometimes that not everyone is me and therefore doesn’t understand the lingo I drop casually.
Network Admin- when I used this term I don’t mean a fed admin in the network, I mean one of the Global-Level Board Admins that I talked about earlier (Me, DT, Dylan, JJ, Scorps, Randy).
Global- This term is used for anything that is on the “XHF Level” that is to say the umbrella company, not a local (or fed-based) level. So a global show would be an interfed show. A local show is your fed’s show. It’s just a term to help differentiate between the two.
Actually I think the other terms got covered in other parts of this.
That’s about all I can think of off the top of my head, if you have other questions let me know here! If you are wondering then odds are somebody else is as well and is just too shy to ask!
Man alive, time flies when you’re rping and match writing and show running, right? Already Supremacy is right around the corner again and we’ve had a whirlwind year!
